This is my first Ludum Dare! Good luck everyone!
Code: Gamemaker 8 (because I’m pretty fast with it)
Art: Paint.net
Sound: Audacity
I figure I should throw my intent to compete out there. I’ll be working with two friends for our first LD entry. We all have a programming and game-making backgrounds, so hopefully we can pull something together. We all live in different places around the country, so we’ll be doing everything remotely. We are planning to stream/timelapse the entire thing, but we’ll see how that goes.
Tools:
Code/IDE: C++/SDL/Code::Blocks
Audio: sfxr/bsfxr/Audacity
Graphics: GIMP, Paint
Source Control: Mercurial
Communication: Mumble/Pidgin
Fuel: Burritos, Dr. Pepper, and Pandora One
At Artix Entertainment, a Flash game development house based out of Tampa, FL, we are all about pushing deadlines and releasing more content in one week for our six games (with 2 more coming out this year!) than should be possible. Now we’re taking that drive and enthusiasm and bringing it to this weekend’s Dare!
Our team will consist of: a Knight, a ninja, a mad weaponsmith, two trolls, a blue mage, a Chronicler, and any other party-members that choose to join in this insane adventure into sleep deprivation and caffeine overload. An eclectic band of heroes, we’ve also ranked up our coding, art, animation, sound, and writing skills; we are fully prepared to do battle with malicious code, tech gremlins, and instances of friendly DOT* insistences (standard fare for any true Dare)!
Armed with Flash Develop, AS3, and Adobe Suite versions from CS3 to 5.5, we’ve also got chests full energy drinks and an armory of nerf weaponry to ready to /equip (note: to be used only while waiting for code to compile). And in case we get outnumbered, we’ve added extra slots to hold enchanted versions of SFXer and Chronolapse on our main development machine, AKA the Inventory Box.
As our quest is geared more towards PvD** than PvP, we look forward to seeing all of your progess as we post ours! Best of luck in the jam and Battle On!

Second time entrant. I finished my game the last time, but to be fair, it wasn’t a gem. The setup this time:
– Java, slick2d, but I picked IntelliJ over Eclipse this time.
– Paint.NET, solid choice last time, I doubt it would disappoint me this time round.
– Tiled, map editor, go check it out. Slick integrated this awesomely.
– sfxr for the basic sound effects.
– music is still up in the air, suggestions are always welcome, might go audacity, who knows
Basically the same setup as last time. BUT
This time I took some time to learn a bit more about the frameworks and tools I’m going to use and I’m really stoked. Gogogo.

Chaoslab is stepping up for Ludum Dare #23
Starting with the Source Code to The Lonely Alien my last entry to Ludum Dare #22
(will upload any new source code that is relevant)

I get the feeling I will be making another Psychedelic Text Adventure with Graphics and Music once again!
Good Luck to all Ludumites!
Hello, this is my first Ludum Dare.
I’ll use Irrlicht, IrrEdit, Blender, Gimp, SFXR and Irrklang and maybe the free Version of Earth Sculptor.
I’m so excited to participate in the upcoming LD#23!
My tools:
I hope that we all have fun!
A bare-bones Flixel app skeleton in FlashDevelop I’m planning to use for LD23.
Featuring:
Free to a good home
Second Ludum Dare for me and highly motivated again. I’m hoping to do something more experimental this time. My last entry was fine, but rather traditional.
Tools of choice:
– C# and XNA with Microsoft Visual Studio
– Farseer Physics, if the game needs complex 2D physics effects
– Photoshop and ASEPRITE for graphics
– Audacity, bfxr/sfxr and maybe my mouth for sounds
– cgMusic for generating music, and Anvil Studio/Audacity for finetuning (not sure about cgMusic yet. feels like cheating because the tool is really good at composing random music.)
I’m also using Base Code this time. It’s mostly all the basic functions like simple 2D animations, particles, scene layers and the landscape tile engine ripped from my last entry, just so that i don’t have to write exactly the same utility functions again if i need them.
Wasn’t very happy about the “Alone” theme last time. Something less generic would be great.
Anyway, let’s code! 😀
Same old tools. An out of date version of Flixel, SFXR and an archiac Paint Shop Pro 5.
glhf all.

We are joining the Jam for the second time. We were pretty happy with our game from last jam, but we learned that iOS is a bad platform for Ludum Dare if you want people to actually play your entry.
This time we will likely be using CraftyJS so more people can play whatever it is that we end up with. We’ve never built anything beyond a simple prototype with CraftyJS before so there may be explosions.
We will be live blogging (and possibly streaming) the jam over at our blog. We will also be posting builds of the game as we jam so more people can laugh at us.
Albeit a bit at the last minute, it seems. This will be my first Ludum Dare and I have a couple ideas for what KIND of game I want to make, but how exactly it turns out will depend on the theme. Fortunately, the basis is pretty flexible.
And, after posting far too late at night, it seems I left out key elements of protocol: tools!
I might be doing a screen cap or something… or might not. Depends on how much time I have to prepare. (Not enough!)
This is my first real Ludum Dare, I almost finished a game for the SOPAJam, about 70% done, but I didn’t fully commit myself to completing the game. This time I am streaming it on my Twitch.tv account (Same username). I hope I can really come up with a good idea for the theme.
Here is what I am using for LD23:
Eclipse – Java for all Game Mechanics and Everything I can’t do with the things below
Paint.NET for “Graphics”
sfxr for not-professional-game-sounding sounds
Hopefully I will be able to finish a not-bad-but-not-at-all-amazing game.
I should stop being majorly pessimistic….
I will try to use C++ this time for pure educational purposes. I hope I can learn a few things. I can already program network connections and threads with C.
I’ll use STL or some boost libraries maybe if I need some physics calculations (I used numpy and scipy last time), SDL for graphics and GIMP for drawing graphics. I don’t plan using sound. These two may change if I can persuade my brother to do some art for me.
Howdy, all. I’m super-stoked to participate in my first Ludum Dare this weekend! Obligatory tools list:
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go and acquire a whiteboard.
Cheers,
Nick
