LD23 April 20–23, 2012

LD23, the first but not the last :)

This is my first Ludum Dare, i hope to enjoy  it as much as you do.

I asked on irc and have all tools ready, but they suggested me to make a post talking about myself and my tools. Ill use java with netbeans, lwjgl as graphics & sound system, stick library for texture & font, and as i plan to use applet ill use the lwjgl AppletLoader to avoid the sign problem.

For generate content ill use sfxr project to create sounds, photoshop for 2D graphics and wings3d for 3D if neccesary (i hope not).

During event ill use git for code control and release the final version.

I think thats all, good luck everyone, 2h 16h :)

Oh, thank you for the info, but im going to use the Original lwjgl AppletLoader. Since the lwjgl need the applet to be signed, cant afford to use custom applet loaders.

My first LudumDare

This will be my first time entering LD48, I have very little game programming experience but my major downfall is that I always start projects and then abandon them, with LD48 I will have to come up with an idea quick and stick with it, I cannot stop “because I cant decide to if to use LWJGL or Java2D” or because “I cant decide on an art style”, I have to just go with it and finish something. I cant wait to begin and have my misses on coffee and snack duty for 48 hours 😀

I can be followed tweeting throughout the 48 hours @wookoouk

I’m entering (+ countdown clock)

I’m entering again using my custom library written in D (download here) which is basically a wrapper for OpenGL and FreeType and has some helper functions for other things.

Things i’ll be using:

D (code written in a text editor, compiled with a makefile), TortoiseSVN, Paint.NET, PhotoImpact 12 (works better with my drawing tablet), urbanfonts.com for fonts, HydraIRC. I’ll probably post some stuff on my webpage (http://jerm.geek.nz/ld23) and my twitter (http://twitter.com/DigiJerm).

I also made a countdown clock using an LED badge I have. Here it is in action with the rest of my setup:

I’m in for the jam as first LD experience

Hello Community,

This will be my first time  competing in here, I will do all the code-like stuff and one of my roommates will be doing the graphics and data files.

I will use a small framework that I’ve been working on, written in Java with LWJGL graphics, audio and XML data files.

We produce the graphics with Gimp  as for the sound I’ll surely use Audacity in the process of recording noises.

Good luck everyone!!!

I’m in!

This’ll be my second LD, hoping to do better this time :)

Been looking forward to this since the last one.

Well, good luck everyone!

Edit:

Should probably say what I’ll be using. Most likely:

– Flash develop

– Paint.net

– sfxr/bfxr/musagi

– Notepad++

Rainy Birthday – Our Warm-up Game!

Oh man, this one was a little bit of a killer for us simply because we barely had any time to work on it consecutively without reaching deep into the night and waking up with bags under our eyes for work. But it’s done, huzzah!

The game was built with a custom engine that Zeik coded (and will later regret to do, as we’ve decided to move onto Flashpunk for our official LD jam). The art and UI was created by Cake in Illustrator and then Photoshop. Music was originally JakesFables from Newgrounds, and edited by Cake and Zeik.

Great art! Nice little game!

I’m in! First time for me! :)

Yeah,

I’m in, too! And it’s also the first LD48 for me.

My name is Ole and I’m a professional software developer (not games) from germany.

I think this will be a funny competition and wish you all fun and good luck.

My Tools are:

  • Programming language: GLBasic (OpenGL multi platform development language)
  • 2D Graphics: Gimp
  • 3D Graphics: Blender
  • Sound: FLStudio, Reaper

There is room for one more.

I will be joining this LD as well, I joined the last one but did not make it in time.. I ended up with a little cute game which I never uploaded.

This time I will make a game so small I will definitely make it in time.

Using my trust AS3 skills.. if I get time I’ll use sfxr or some other tool for audio and Acid Music if I feel generous for background music.

Prepare to see the smallest fun playable game ever made. Good luck to everyone.

This is ElbowRoom signing out.

I’m in for the 1st time.

Hello!

I’ve never done any game before, but I’m a huge fan of the LD since when I first saw Appy 1000mg by deepnight (hope he will be participating). I also watched the livestreams from notch (and the mojam) and really liked the way he was creating his games. So I decided to do my best and give it a try. I will be doing it the notch-style:

Language: Java (with Eclipse)
Library: none (don’t go the easy way, more coding = more fun!)
Graphics: Paint.Net
Sound: dunno, maybe some library and generated music

I’m aiming for only one goal: Just finish anything.

Good luck and lots of fun to everyone

In like [Kevin] Flynn

I’ve a lousy LD track record so far, but I’m giving it another go.

Tool Pool:

  • GameMaker
  • Photoshop
  • LightWave 3D
  • CorelDRAW
  • Spriter Beta
  • Fontstruct
  • Bfxr
  • Audacity
  • QuantiZe
  • LabChirp
  • Sound Effects Generator
  • Cylonix
  • Linear Predictive Codec
  • Musagi
  • Rebirth
  • LMMS
  • Synplant
  • Bitspeek
  • MicroTonic
  • proprietary tools
  • personal code library (much of it posted here: GMLscripts.com)

I might attempt HTML5 delivery but I’ll most likely to stick with a Windows executable.

I’m in

This is my first time and im so excited! I prepared everything for the weekend to dedicate all time to #ld23

I will be streaming the whole weekend at www.own3d.tv/Dewx

Graphics: HTML5

Server: PHP

Client: Javascript

I hope I can finish!

I’m in

Okay, let’s give this another shot. Haven’t submitted a game since LD19, but after GGJ and Molyjam, i’m rolling on top of a wave of success.

Engine: HGE as always (C++)

Paint.NET for graphics

FL Studio for sound

I experimented with other engines, languages and libraries, but this is the setup I keep coming back to.

Here we are !

That’s it : my first Ludum Dare. I’ll join for the Jam with some friends for this year ; maybe I’ll do the competition next time 😉

Language : certainly Flash (or maybe Javascript)

Good luck everyone !

I’m in again

I’ll be rocking:

Code: Unity(C#) + EX2D(if 2d)

Graphics: PyxelEdit or GraphicsGale or Paint.Net or Spriter Beta (haven’t decided yet)

Sound:  BFXR + (PXTone or iNudge)

Listening To: Dubstep or Brown Noise

Drinking: Whisky

Aiming for the “Ballmer Peak”

Lets do this.

My first LD! I am very excited.

Engine: C# / Unity3D pro / Tidy TileMapper / iTween / some other available code libraries depending on game.

Art: Blender/Gimp / RagePixel

Music: Propellerhead’s Figure

Sound: Mic / Audacity

My first LD

Excited about taking part in my first LD this weekend!

I’ll be developing a Java game for the first time (previously have a little experience with GameMaker and Unity).

Depending on the theme, I’ll spend anywhere between 3 – 12 hours working on it.

I’m also looking forward to reviewing & playing the other entries.

Some details on my plans:

Planned distribution: web applet + standalone (platform independent jar, and probably .exe for Windows using launch4j or something similar).

Libraries: Slick (2D engine built on LWJGL of Minecraft fame), IBXM (music)

Tools: Photoshop (graphics); OpenMPT (music); Audacity & sfxr (sound FX)

I’ve been learning Slick for a while and managed to get the applet & standalone builds working.  So hopefully will be in a good position to code and publish something at least!

One problem I have is that .xm files don’t play when deployed as an applet, but they work in standalone build.  If anyone has any advice how to debug this, I’d appreciate it!

Awesome, we’ll have to swap tips! Good luck!

Holy damn its here already

I am going to have to find time for this because it is significantly more awesome than whatever else i was planning on doing but damn, even though I’ve been watching the clock on and off its snuck up on me. Better get rating stuff then.

No way in hell am i going to have time for a practice game or two haha, likely to be working up to the starting themepost. (in IRC to not contribute to the mass F5 on the compo page)

I’m in! Hopefully 3rd time lucky!

After failing a few past Ludum Dare’s (with various engines I never particularly knew), I’ve decided to give this one a big shot. Especially after spending alot more time learning my framework of choice!

So to get on with this…

Engine: Love2D 0.8.0 (The new version :D)

Editor: Notepad++

Timelapse Recorder: Chronolapse

Pixel Editor: Paint.NET or Photoshop

Sound/Music: Fruity Loops, sfxr, Audacity, LMMS

See you during the jam!

Thanks for the heads up. I was still using Love2D 0.7.2. This is great timing.

Hello, World!

Hello, all!

I’m joining to participate in LD23.  I’ve never really made a complete game before, so it is exciting to force myself to complete one.  I’ll probably use Java (NetBeans) or HTML5 (Crimson Editor).  Graphics in whatever… Paint, Photoshop, sketchup, scanned-in watercolors.  Sounds probably recorded from the real world.

Interactive Cellular Automota

Entropy Maze - LD23 Warmup

Here’s a little autointroduction.  I taught myself how to program on a TI82 calculator in high school, and have been programming ever since.  I enjoy building robots and programming applications/tools.  I did make a user adventure for Mr. Robot, and I’ve submitted a warmup game for LD23 also.

My muses: KMFDM, Tool, Minecraft, Starcraft, Edison, Niven, Chicago’s world’s fairs, and many more.
