LD23 April 20–23, 2012

I’m in

Hopefully I’ll finish something this time!

Bag o’ tricks:

-Python + Komodo Edit

-Ogre3d, BASS, Box2D or Bullet depending on design

-GIMP, Maya, Brekel Kinect, Reaper + some free synths

The theme better be more awesome than “Alone” this time around. Good luck and enjoy the sleep deprivation gentlepeople!!

I’m in!

What I may be using:

language: java for an android app or maybe I will fall back on to C++ & SDL

graphics: The Gimp most likely

music/sound (maybe): LMMS

OK I am a little bit undecided but I HAVE decided that I am in for Ludum Dare 23. and muffins. I most definitively need to get some muffins. Can’t do Ludum Dare without muffins. Mmm… muffins.

I’m in

I’m glad to be in for my first Ludum Dare. I won’t have the full week-end free but I will be able to release a full game in time I hope 😀

My toolbelt:

– libgdx

– gimp

– sfxr

– autotracker

I’m warming up them right now!

Good luck :) Good to see some other people use libgdx ..

I’m in !

it’s the first time for me – so wish me some luck :)

I’m going to use flashpunk and my supreme pixelart skills (sadly, this is sarcasm – my pixelstuff is horrible) to make a hopefully neat browser game

tools:

  • FlashDevelop 4.0.1
  • Flex 4.6.0
  • Flashpunk 1.6
  • Ogmo Editor 2.0.0.38
  • GIMP 2.6.11
  • GraphicsGale Free Edition 1.93.19
  • Audacity 1.2.6
  • sfxr
  • Autotracker-C
  • gedit 2.30.1
  • Resource Hacker 3.6.0
  • lots of coffee

I’m going to use the next two days to test my tools and improve my skills so I can actually start developing/designing something when the clocks start ticking

 //edit

I’ve added Autotracker to my tools of trade – since it produces stunning results and I really suck at music composing – so it will most propably serve me really well

Also added Resource Hacker – which I might use to change the icon of the projector executable for a windows standalone file

2D or 3D?

So are most people planning to do a 2D or 3D game?

Looking at a lot of the previous comps and reading what tech most people will be using and writing in, I guess a lot will be 2D…

Bizarrely I always find writing a 2D game much much much harder than 3D, I guess maybe that is due to my 2D art skills being rubbish and never investing the time into 2D techniques.. I think its easier to make thinks look pretty and wing it in 3D 😛

So yeah I am going to be doing a 3D OpenGL game…

How on earth do you find the time to model, skin, etc?

Well because of my lack of 3d modelling skills , I wont be planning to make anything complicated, and probably wont be doing any animating or skinning. Use maybe basic 3D object creation and simple animations.

in

in support of one of the round 1 themes…

Me, Myself and I are in

it’s the first time for me, lets hope i don’t fail!

I’m going to be writing my game from scratch, so no flixel and no flashpunk, even tho i have recently fallen in love with flixel.

The art will be pixel art, I’ve lost my “normal” art skills ever since I started pixel art, its just to much fun.  Also this weekend

happens to be my only weekend off in weeks, must be a gift from Olympus!

tools:

* FlashDevelop 4.0.1
* Paint.net

Jacked up and good to go!

For my second Ludum Dare, I’ve decided to not use C#/XNA due to portability issues.

This time around, I’m going to try using a different language and a library I have never touched before.

Tools:

Language and Library – Java + Slick2D/lwjgl

IDE – Eclipse

Music and sounds – Audacity, headset microphone, nearby instruments and objects

Graphics – Paint.NET and GIMP

Energy generating fluid – Coffee

Inspiration inducing inebriant – Beer

I’m in!

I’ll be doing the ludum dare with a friend, me writing all the code, and him doing the art work so i will be doing the Jam.

  • LanguageFlash/Flash Punk
  • IDE – Flash Devolop
  • Audio – Audacity, Magix Music Maker
  • Graphics – Photo Shop, Flash

This is my second, so i’m hoping to do better than my last ludum dare!

I’m errrrrrrrrrrrrrr…irresolute

I’m IN, or i might not be.

Depending on how well the theme voting skills turn out to be this time around i will create a bombastic entry, or none at all.

DONT VOTE GENERIC SHIT GUYS! THE INDUSTRY DOES ENOUGH OF THAT ALREADY 😀

PS:
No effort was made in creation of this post.

Second Ludum Dare for me, hoping to improve on last time! I’ve got work on Friday but after that I can devote my entire attention to this game.

Gonna prep music, food etc etc in advance this time, I had a problem with that last LD.

Working with Game Maker, SFXR, Audacity and Paint.NET. Good luck everyone :)

Anything else I need to provide?

A Challenger Approaches!

Hi all! As a newcomer to the LD scene, this weekends competition will be my first – pretty much a “trial by fire”.  I’m really exited about the possible themes, especially “Stuff Blowing Up”  :D.  The software I will be using:

  • Graphics: PyxelEdit
  • Music: MilkyTracker
  • Sound Effects: sfxr

Here’s hoping we all have a great competition!

What basics do you want to know about?

Basics about the competition. I read the rules, but some points is a little vague.

First, anyone, from anywhere, can participate? I feel strange about it because I had participate the Global Game Jam and there you had to register at a certificate place, but, MUCH better if don’t.

Second, the Jam (the 72 hours part) is judge by others like the competition or they have some differences?

Guys, I think that I will list the programs that I will use when I make the idea. I don’t feel comfortable have saying for sure all the programs that I will use, but I’m planing to use:

– Unity3D (free)

– PxTone

– GraphicsGale

– MyPaint

and maybe

– Blender
