LD23 April 20–23, 2012

Check recent LD’s before voting for themes!

Edit:  It seems the reason old themes are back in is because of the 10th anniversary!  Consider this post null and void; I am now resolute to enjoy whatever theme is picked, be it old or new!

I see that ‘Discovery’ scored highest out of round 3’s voting.  This was also the theme for LD #19, which wasn’t that long ago.  Personally I’d prefer not to have this theme in particular repeated so soon.  If I remember correctly, some of the other themes up for voting have been covered recently.  Please be aware of this when voting in the final round.  It’s better to have fresh themes, IMHO.  If you spot any other themes that have been used recently, please note them in the comments below, along with the LD in which they were used.  Thanks.

I’m in!

I’m Daniel and I live in Taiwan. This is my first time in Ludum Dare.

Weapons of choice:

Graphics: SAI, PS & Blender
Engine: Unity
Sound: BFXR & Aviary

LD 23: I’m in and decided to use GLBasic

I’ve narrowed down my development language to be GLBasic. I’ve got a lot of the weekend available.

This is my 3rd attempt, but I’ve at least spent a little time preparing. I also got my personal website updated with a blog and will be making updates on there primarily: http://blog.pjarosak.com

My first go!

Looking forward to giving it a first go! Hopefully something will be produced!

Here’s the toolbox:

First time, and we’re doing the jam.

Hey all. This is the first time me and my two friends will be participating. We’re doing the 72 hour jam!

Usually we make games in Python with a game engine two of us wrote, but it (meaning the engine) isn’t good enough for real “games”.

So this weekend, we’re using:

Construct 2D Standard

Paint.net

Aseprite

Sfxr

iNudge

And we’ll be uploading a time-lapse of the first 24hours afterwards! Wooooo!

A cunning plan approaches!

As LD23 looms ever closer, I’ve been contemplating ways to improve my performance this time around.

My biggest issue last time around was losing about half a day to “oh god, I have no idea what to do with this theme”, so with that in mind I’m keeping a closer eye on the voting this time around and trying to make sure I’ve got at least one idea for the front runners in each day of voting – especially if it’s something I’m hoping doesn’t win!

Once I’ve done that, I can take a look at my pile of ideas and see if they hit any of my weaker areas, then focus on getting myself up to speed with those before the compo starts – with any luck I should be in a position to start building something right out of the gate rather than sitting around staring at the walls this time.

I’m in!

This will be my first Ludum Dare, and hopefully the first time I create a somewhat complete game.

Tools:

  • IDE: Microsoft Visual C# 2010
  • Framework: XNA 4.0
  • Graphic Creation: Paint.net
  • Sound: sfxr
  • Existing code: Very basic game library I started working on recently – LazyEngine.zip
  • In the offchance that I want to have anything multiplayer I may use my (unfinished) networking library – VirtualUDP.zip

Good luck everyone!

I’m in!

This time I might even finish with a complete game. My weapons of choice this time will be:

  • Paint.net (or the photoshop cs6 beta if I’ll install it)
  • Notepad++
  • Löve 0.72 (or 0.8 if I have the time to upgrade my basecode)
  • sfxr

If the game I end up making is a platformer I’ll probably be basing it on my current löve platformer test.

Generic, I’m not out post

Well… I’ve worked on a small “I’m in” -demo but it didn’t get finished in time. But I’m in! The weapon of choice is:

  • Love2D (Engine)
  • Sublime Text 2 (Code)
  • Grafx2 (Graphics)
  • Renoise (Sound)

I think that’s about it… let’s make it a awesome weekend everybody!

First Dare!

This is my first time jamming in Ludum Dare.  My tools are the following:

  • FlashDevelop w/ FlashPunk
  • Ogmo Editor

My teammates will be taking care of the media assets.  Good luck everyone!

I’m in!

Looks like alot of fun!

My personal armament:

  • For the Art: Gimp, Blender
  • Audio: sfxr, Audacity and my Mic
  • Existing Code: An unfinished multiplayer networking framework I’ve been working on

First Ludum Dare

Hi everyone! I’m Simon, a Maltese games student currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark. After participating in the Molyjam, which was my first solo game jam, I’m mentally preparing myself to enter Ludum Dare #23!

I’ll be using the following tools:

  • FlashDevelop (Flixel and ActionScript 3) (code)
  •  Adobe Photoshop CS5 and MsPaint (graphics)
  • Ableton Live, sfxr and bxfr (sound)

Good luck to all! :)

Lazy Brain is taking the dare!

Hi all! Johnny B. here, and I’m ready to make some games!

I’ve made plenty of retro action games within a week deadline under the Lazy Brain Games label, but never 2 days! Comin’ strapped with…

Game Maker

Photoshop

Mixcraft

Good luck to everyone!

-Johnny B.

I’m in !

Team Bad Pun is in!

The ACM club at LeTourneau University has been interested in the Jam this semester, and the time has finally come!

We have at least two groups of three people each; I will represent one of them. Team Name:  “Bad Pun”

Expectations are that two of us will mainly code,  and the third will mainly work on art assets, but we’ll all do a little of everything I imagine. Tools:

  • Platform: HTML5/Javascript
  • I will be bringing in a bit of convenience  code, mainly to handle resource loading, keyboard events, and sprite sheets. If anybody is interested, I’ve posted it here.
  • Version Control: Fossil
  • Graphics: probably the GIMP will see the most use.
  • Sound: bfxr will likely see use. The art guy will probably use fancier stuff I’ve never even heard of. 😛
  • Code development will be with whatever tools we personally prefer; we have a Windows, Mac, and Linux computer among the three of us. I personally like CodeBrowser for elastic tabstops.

We are looking forward to having fun!
