LD36 August 26–29, 2016

My computer’s in the repair shop, but I’m in..?

Everyone’s doing an “I’m In” post, and so of course naturally I have to make one as well (Tradition!)

This will be my 7th Ludum Dare Compo, but my 8th game submitted for Ludum Dare jams (My first was for a mini LD a while back)

This time around I’ll be using pretty much the same tools as always:

Machine: My computer which is currently broken and in the repair shop

Engine: Unity

Sound: Audacity and my own creativity and restrictions, possibly LMMS if I can be bothered

3D art: Blender!

Texture work: Probably Blender texture paint, except for things that need to be precise, such as UI elements and things of the sort, for which I’ll use good ol’ Gimp.

I wish us all the best of luck, and another great Ludum Dare! 😀

I’m in :D

My second ld 😀

Now I’m working as an intern in a game company, on the way to a game developer.

I’m In

This is my first Ludum Dare and my first post, so I hope that I’m posting this right.

I’ve wanted to do this for a while but never actually gave it a try. Hopefully I’ll be able to make and publish something finished.

I think I’m going to use either Unity or a Javascript Web Game and maybe opengameart.org for some art and music.

In again!

Ahoy, I know this just joins a sea of other posts, but figured I’d entered formally to all the other ones, may as well do this one too. I was a little disappointed for the lack of judging on this one, but if he needs to take a break, it is what it is. I’ll probably take it a bit less like trying to put out a product and go for something more wacky or experimental and hopefully people will still comment, despite the lack of ratings.

I’m in

This will be my first LD, and I’m very excited to participate. I’ll be participating in the Jam.

I’ll be using Unity 3d, photoshop and paint.net.

Nice! I was also a first time unity-er a year ago. Good luck!

I’m super uniquely in and you definitely care.

I’m going to be entering the compo. I entered last time and had to enter a 1 hour game as I had absolutely no time. I have a free weekend this time around so hopefully I can have a fully fledged entry.

I’ll be using the following generic tools that you’ll definitely care about.

Engine : Unity

2D Graphics Tool : GIMP

3D Graphics Tool (If I can avoid it. Will be sticking to 2D unless the only good ideas I have veer towards 3D): Blender

Audio Tools: SFXR, Musagi and Audacity.

A 2D Map Editor I Found For Unity : http://www.kaisirak.com/

Other: BMFONT

Wish everyone good luck!

You too!

Ludum Dare Streamers Board

I noticed the streaming widget is absent from the LD website (don’t know if PoV plans to bring that back), but just in case I made a simple streaming feed app as my LD warmup exercise.

ld-streamers

Let me know if you find it useful, or it sucks, or whatever :)

Here it is: https://openfu.com/ld/live

Be sure to check out the Theatre Mode as well, it cycles through all the active streamers in order, and shows you 60 seconds of each stream (with the ability to pause and jump forward when you want). It’s designed to be left running in the background and give a good overview on what everybody’s working on.

Update: there’s also a Tampermonkey script now that you can use to show a stream preview on the regular Ludum Dare site: https://gist.github.com/Udo/c9f2187d0a97773cff16842ed37512a8 – or, if you want to embed it into your own iframe anywhere, use this code:

<iframe style="border: none" src="https://openfu.com/ld/live/?preview-widget" width="280" height="180"></iframe>

And this is what it looks like, using the Tampermonkey script:

I’m in for my 8th time

I’m going to be in for my 8th time, and with my own tools this time too. I’m also targeting Windows/Mac/Linux/Android/Html5 this time.

The tools that I will be using are as follows.

  • SilenceEngine – My own Cross Platform 2D/3D game engine
  • IntelliJ IDEA 2016.2.1 Ultimate IDE
  • Gimp and Inkscape for graphics development
  • BFXR.net and Beepbox for sounds and music
  • Three mugs of coffee per day
  • IRC and Slack/Skype for team communication (if I could form one).

I wish everyone good luck in making your game, let’s have fun.

I’m (hopefully) in!

So I’ve been watching the most recent LDs and thinking that I should do one.  I do have a pretty busy schedule, and I don’t know if I’ll be working on the weekend, but I’m really hoping I’ll be able to do this.  I’ll be using:

Game Engine: Unity

Art: Gimp

3D: Blender (if I can’t avoid it)

Sound: SFXR

Slaughtering themes :D

How long do you guys spend on average slaughtering themes?

I tend to spend about 10 minutes a day but I feel I should be spending a little more time persuading the system to choose a theme I like… What about you?

I’m in!

For the first time. I will be using Unity, Cinema 4D and Ableton to make something. Very excited!

I wanna compose/create SFX 4 Ludum Dare 36!!!!

Very excited to join this jam!!!!!

Whatever be the theme, it is always great to be part of LD!!!!
If you need music/SFX 4 your game in this jam, talk to me!

Here is my portfolio!

See you soon!!!

Hey! I did PM on twitter!

I’m in

Just lettin’ everyone know I’m competing in this Ludum Dare if homework doesn’t get in the way :-)

Oh look, another “I’m in!” post!

Hello, LD! I cannot wait to take part in LD36. It’s been a while since I have done this compo, but I’m back now, for the first time under this handle. Here are my stats:

»My game is being programmed in pure Lua, using the Love2D framework.

»I’m gonna be testing out a WIP game engine that I’ve been writing on and off for the past couple of weeks, and hope to improve during the 48 hours. (As per the rules, I’ll share the source before starting the contest, but I still have some stuff I want to add to it prior to the beginning of the compo.)

»I’m using GIMP for image editing, and probably bfxr for any sound effect generation – I don’t anticipate having music in the game, but we’ll see.

»Any other tools I’ll need (for map editing, tile editing, or whatever) will either have to be programmed in, or the tools will have to be made during this week/compo. This should be fun!

I’m looking way forward to this, can’t wait to start. Good luck to everyone participating!

EDIT: Here is the link to the engine. It’s very buggy, very new, not really that good, and practically no documentation, which is why I’m hoping to improve it over the next few days.

Yay once more I’m in

This time I’m gonna have to figure out how to balance a full-time job *and* LD.

I’m sure I’ll manage :)

Let’s hope for a good theme!

i actually have time for this one so why not

finally i am not busy with work

i think i’ll use js and no game engine as usual.
but who knows, i also wrote a lot of rust between last ld i entered and this one so maybe i’ll do it in rust (hint: no)

I’m in! – LD36

Will be doing a game.

Tools:

  • Windows 7 as the dev OS because Linux and Mac don’t have any decent game engines.
  • Construct 2 as the engine because I’m doing a 2D 8-bit styled game.
  • SFXR for sound effects because I’m lazy to do proper sound effects.
  • Famitracker with instruments ripped from Vic Tokai games for music because I like those.
  • Aseprite + DB32 palette for graphics because I prefer it more than the NES one.
  • Google Chrome for testing the web version because IE is bad.

“because Linux and Mac don’t have any decent game engines”. You just want people to get triggered, don’t you?

I’m in

My previous Ludum Dare was more than one year ago to create a NES game in assembly in 48 hours… a joyful and colorful adventure as you can see below!

Entry link

This time I will use a more traditional development environment to build a desktop game:

  • libGDX for java development
  • Bxfr for procedural generation of sound effects
  • cgMusic for procedural generation of musics
  • Paint.NET for 2D graphic
  • Blender for 3D graphic

Very excited of course!

That’s a neat looking game :)

Might be there

I might actually get to do this jam really want to make a playable game

Procedurally Generated Mountain Range and Stars

Here is the link to the source for my procedurally generated mountains program that I posted about a few days ago. It is coded in Java and uses LibGDX to render onto the screen. There are still a couple of bugs that I’m going to try to get round to fixing but it still works most of the time.

Feel free to use it in any of your games.
