Teddy meets a new powerful enemy

In case you missed it, LD36 will be a little bit unusual, in that it won’t feature ratings.
To bring everyone up to date, the reason behind that is that PoV, when announcing his break from running the August LD, has also raised concerns over the ratings system. He recommended not to use it for this event, and following a poll made by Sorceress, we voted in majority to follow his advice.
Now, some of us really wanted to still find a cool incentive for players to play each other’s games. Ludum Dare may be enjoyed for the competition, but getting loads of playtesting and sharing feedback with each other is also a great part of what makes the event special.
So here comes our little experiment:

Click the logo to access the mini-site. Not me, the logo… Ok ok you can click me
Here’s how it works:
Right after LD36 ends, you’ll be able to use this little thing to browse games and find those who need feedback the most. The more games you comment on, the higher you’ll be featured! The goal, of course, is to make sure everyone gets some comments on their games, and reward the more active commenters with more feedback.
If you’re curious, you can already browse the games from Ludum Dare 35 to get an idea of how it works.
Starting today, the mini-site will be open for the current MiniLD in order to test things out, gather opinions and make some tweaks.
Please share your suggestions & bug reports in the comments. And if you’re curious, feel free to check the Github repository!
Additional announcement: Will Edwards is looking for contributors (artists/programmers) to upgrade a project he made for LD30.
It featured a nice map of the world, where people could place their entries and find their neighbors. It also encouraged commenting on other games, which is exactly what we’re trying to do. It would be a nice way to complement the Feedback Friends, so if you have some skills & free time, you know what to do!
Ludum Dare 36? Sounds exciting.
This time, platform = Linux Mint!
I have done 9 LDs now, and I LOVE the Ludum Dare Community. So I was wondering if you could help me get this out there…
I’m starting something new on Twitter. It’s called: MusicWeeklies. We make music every week. New themes weekly. Want to have 20 Original Pieces of Music by the end of the year? Then come join us!
So far we have done 4 MWs. Our 5th one, which starts on Friday the 29th, will be a raffle! Like usual, a theme will be announced, and then you make music based on the theme within the week. Although this time at the end of the week, one randomly chosen participant will win a copy of a game on Steam!
If you know anyone that would be interested, tell them to follow @MusicWeeklies on Twitter. Be sure to check out our website for the theme announcement, and other information: musicweeklies.com. Come and join us, and spread the word! 😀

Hello, I’m new to Ludum Dare (and game development), so I’m entering the Mini LD #69 to see if I can create a game. I’m using python3 and pygame as well as PyCharm for my IDE. I’ve been programming for a 4 or 5 years and got interested in game development. Any tips for Ludum Dare, game development, or python would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi everyone!
I will be participating in this Ludum Dare because I feel that it is a good way to practice making games!
Also at the end of the month after working on the same game for a while I am sure it will help give me more excitement for working on games again!
I will be using Gamemaker Studio, Aseprite and Sunvox for music!
Good luck to you all!

If you have not played my game yet, please play it first (its quick) and then read the following message. It is intended for the players of “Colonization in a Nutshell”, my (Javabot) submission for the MiniLD.
*************************************************************************
Once you have found the hidden message, please comment down below new messages, and how they would play out in this game. Many people have found it, and want alternative endings! I will probably remake the game using the response! Also, if you are an artist, preferably pixel, please tell me if you are interested in helping me out in a remake because my art skills are not very great.
As an added bonus, have the messages reference history, or just be funny.

If you want to check it out feel free!: https://www.twitch.tv/jonmat1632.
First time making a post like this, so if this is the wrong place, I’m sorry
Anyway, I am ready to participate in August’s LD. I am not sure if my friends will join me this time, so if anyone needs a programmer or someone to help with story/design ideas, feel free to send me a message!
Made my first LD wallpaper. It is based on the colors I’m looking to use in the upcoming jam

Just completed my first LD submission, and it was super intense. Very casual pace until the last two hours, then non-stop heart pounding. Great experience though! Recommended for all. Thanks to the great community.
Hey everyone,
I have never done a ludum dare before so I’m looking forward to the excitement. Trying to build my skills as a designer/dev and I have always thought that game jams was the best way to do that.
Looking forward to all of the games
Hey, all! After participating in LD for the first time with number 35, I found it odd that there didn’t seem to be anyone else using Clickteam Fusion 2.5. I’m just a little confused, because to my knowledge, the program doesn’t have any “source code,” as it’s all done visually, and thus I’m not sure how I would include it where necessary. Thanks to anyone who can help! Oh, and I’m in.
No complications this time 😀
although, obviously I am in, as I have competed in every LD since LD 28, still trying to get top 100
Speaking of which, this LD isn’t being rated, which doesn’t really make much difference, as all I really want to do is finish a game.
I will be using C++, with GLFW, OpenGL, GLAD, and LodePNG. I will not be using any base code, (yea! Not even a maths lib).
Also, photoshop, sfxr and famitracker (if I get round to music, since, I never have)
Since it is not being rated, this is the perfect one to challenge myself D: So I am starting from the Ultimate scratch. (not quite true, I almost went with vulkan :o)
Anyway, I CANNOT wait. I am so excited, the Ludum Dare is my favorite thing in the whole world.

So I have been using Discord alot recently and I was suprised to see that Ludum Dare does not have a server on it. If you dont know what Discord is its a service that allows text/chat discussion on a certain topic, in this case Ludum Dare. Anyone who would like to join the server here is the link:

im getting hyped and im prolly gonna bring the heat woo!
Shout out to ermo, for making probably the largest game in the MiniLD, “Island Warfare”. It is a really large game, most due to procedural generation, and I really think this would be awesome if it went multiplayer.

Shout out to KloudRazor for making the, in my opinion, funnest game to play: “Operation Mars”. This is a team of 2 people who really made a polished game, and a difficult one at that. Usually you don’t see this unless the game is really buggy, however this game has no bugs/glitches that I am aware of. My high-score is 18 days survived, comment or tweet at me yours if you want to share it.

Shout-out to Opyate for making the simplest and most elegant game in my opinion: “:isation”. This game is you turning a cube, and sticking color on it as to get the most area with it. Although it could use a little more rethinking, or maybe have preset puzzles instead of randomly generated ones (which seem to make the game too easy), the base of the game is still there, and it is solid.

Also shout-out to Wan for making the feedback friends website, it is a very comfortable website to use in my opinion, however I do not know how it will stand up with thousands of games. In the meantime, it has made the MiniLD a bit more meaningful. I doubt I would have commented so much if this were not the case.

If you are wondering why I made this post, it’s to point out games I think people should play, even if they are not very interested in the MiniLD.
YO I’m in ! Or, we are in, because I have two other programmers to help. Last time we were screwed over by using Angel2D so now we’re writing the game in D using my own personal AoD engine. Good luck.
Composer and Audio Specialist here to help add that sweet sweet aural excitement to any entries. Reach out and let’s collaborate.

[ also love how the games appear on cartridges in the search, that’s a really nice touch. ]
I mean of course it’s impressive that you made it in time, but as you know I’m not so impressed of the idea it’s based on.
But it only allows to efficiently see the top 20 or 50 entries in the category. Could we have page numbers at the bottom to browse a bit deeper ?
Nice work on the site, it seems to work very well! I hope to give it a test on the current MiniLD, I’m in it after all.
The only issue is with what vfabien21 said, it loads games really slowly and only shows a few per page.. maybe add another page with less images, stats, etc, that just orders and lists a lot of games with links? when the numbers go higher it’s going to be harder to navigate.
would it be possible to enable search also for the description?
A minor thing to be fixed maybe: If you embed your game but do not provide a link labeled (Web) then the game is not listed with the platform “Web” – which might discourage people from playing it even though they could…
Is there a possibility for you to detect that case?
