LD36 August 26–29, 2016

I’m in

This will be my third Ludum Dare. This is a great way to learn how to make a game.

Programs:

Coding: Visual Studio

Designing: Unity 3D

Sound Effects (if any): Audacity

I too, will be entering!

Using the same tools as last time, might need a better music playlist to keep me focused during the weekend. Trying to relearn C++ so that I can use that for Ludum Dare #37.

Good luck everybody!

I’m in

Will be using c++ this game jam along with SFML

I’m hopefully in I guess or something

I’ll give it a shot, if I have time, I’m gonna suck. But I’ll try. 😉

It’ll be my first. Always been too scared to ever enter one.

I’m (we’re) in!

Hi there. First Ludum Dare (and first real game jam, for that matter) for any of us here, and we’re excited to participate in LD #36! So glad it didn’t end up getting cancelled.

Tools & Team

Programming: Unity 3D

Visuals: Photoshop CC

Music/SFX: Garageband/sfxr

Total teammates: 5

Good luck to you all! I can’t wait for this jam to start.

I’m in!

First Ludum Dare! I’ll be working with a small team of friends and I’ll stream on twitch so you guys can suggest anything you may want.

Twitch.tv/onlysantos

We’ll try to stream the full length of the competition so you guys can join anytime whether its noon or midnight!

I’m in!

My first game jam!

No F@#king idea what I’m going to make though.

We’re in!

Hi everyone! I’m going to participate for the first time with my friend @fegabe and my lovely girlfriend Martuka. Very exited!

Tools:

  • Unity
  • Photoshop
  • LSDJ
  • Sketch

I am in!

I’m going to start in the Compo. Last time I failed and had to send entry to the Jam, bacuse I didn’t finish main features in 48hours. I hope this time will be better 😉

I’m planning to use:

  • Phaser.io as a game engine
  • Paint for graphics
  • Reaper, and some other things that can make real noise
  • Board & markers, i really love to use whiteboards for thinking things out loud

What should I learn to develop?

So, I used to do games in flash, a long time ago, I’ve been busy with another projects and I’d like to jump into the indie game process again. I’ve read a lot about unity and unreal engine. I’d like to do mostly 2d and 2.5 as I’m not the greatest designer. Is there any limitations good to know about any of those? any better alternatives for a solo developer?

You might want to try HTML5/JavaScript, it is great at 2D.

pure html5 is indeed a pain…

You can also try Godot. It’s open source and it’s pretty awesome at 2d/2.5d (sadly 3d is pretty bad).

I’ll suggest haxeflixel. I’ve been using it for about 1 year and I love it. It’s really easy to pick up the basics and it exports to pretty much everything.

If you have a flash background I recommend you Haxe and Haxeflixel!

You will get used very fast.

Thanks everyone :) learning some of haxeflixel and godot atm. Lets see if I feel ready for this dare!

It’s been a long time… but I’m in

I did some hobby game development several years ago, then just… stopped (lack of motivation, I suppose). Looking back at some of the stuff I’ve done, even incomplete LD projects, I marvel at what I accomplished and wonder if I could even repeat that. I’ve wanted to continue for a long time and have beaten myself up every time I let a LD or a OGAM pass me by… but here’s my chance to get back into it.

Engine: Phaser or LÖVE (depending on which I feel more comfortable with in a week)
Graphics: Aseprite or PyxelEdit/Photoshop/Tiled (if necessary)
Sound: sfxr or bfxr (BeepBox looks cool but I probably won’t have time)

I’d like to hear any suggestions between Phaser.io or LÖVE from people with some experience. I presume that LÖVE makes for easier distribution (though I do have webspace for hosting, if I want) and that they’re comparable in actual flexibility/power (which is to say: both very good), but I’m open to biased preferences and hearing why. :)

well, everybody else is making a post like this, so

i’m in. currently looking to be in the compo, as i’m not working with anybody, though that might change in a week.

i’ll be using:

  • lua + löve for code, unless i’m still not getting the hang of it by crunch time, in which case i’ll dust off the old game maker studio
  • fl studio (demo ver since i. dont wanna pay for it lol) for music
  • paint.net and/or paint tool sai for art
  • sfxr for, well, what else would i use it for?

yeah. cool. nice. yeah

I just switched from Game Maker to Love. Definitely recommend it. A lot faster for prototyping, and lets me not use Game Maker’s terrible text editor.

Ready for my second Ludum Dare!

I’m pretty excited about getting to participate in the compo again, as it was tons of fun last time. I plan on using Unity again because it’s what I’m comfortable with and it’s fairly powerful, but I would love to hear what engines/libraries you guys will be using!

I’m out, too

The combination of school starting again, a job, and the just13k game jam has led to the most inconvenient timing I have ever had with a ludum dare :P.  Hopefully next time ^_^.

I’m in : learning Godot for a cool 2d game

After developing some indie games with various engines. I am having some know how to use only freeware and open source to develop the full games.

Thanks to the game dev community for making such thing possible with their awesome tools and contribution

So my weapons for this jam are

Engine: Godot (learning else jump to libgdx/unity2d)

Concept + design : Inkscape

Art: Inkscape + paint.net

Art bg : Blender (learning )

Audio : LMMS + BFXR + Audacity [also looking for some royalty free]

Tiles : Tiled [if needed by game]

concept : will try to include physics in 2d(no to 3D for this time) environment, but lets see what remains after Theme slaughter and voting

Team-Up : I am programmer so interested to team up with artists. Let me know, if anyone interested to team up with me @paruthidotexe
