LD34 December 11–14, 2015

3 years later…

Three years ago, I said that I absolutely WOULD be taking part in the Ludum Dare 25 Game Jam. But, I did not. I forgot exactly what happened. But in the end, I could not take part.

Let’s change that.

I will start small–I will take part in the Jam, and I will only be using one thing.

–RPG Maker MV

I know, it’s strange, it’s cliche, but RPGs are what I know best, and RPG Maker is what I’m most experienced at. So, for Ludum Dare 34, I will be using RPG Maker MV and all of the tools, libraries, and assets that that entails.

Of course, I will be opting out of the Graphics and Sounds categories, because just about none of them will be my own. Except, perhaps, a few characters I may have generated for the jam.

I will be streaming, too. I’ll post a link to my Twitch account shortly before the jam begins–if anybody’s interested in knowing my story, they can see it from there.

Let’s have some fun, shall we?

LETS HAVE SOMEEE FUUUN 😀

I’m In

I’m in, for my third Ludum Dare (also did three mini’s).

If anyone is interested, here is the link to the Unity base project that I will be using. https://bitbucket.org/chadivision/unitybaseproject

It’s very minimal, mostly just a utility class, some extension methods, and a bare-bones scene manager. I’ll probably be adding a couple more scripts to it this weekend.

Also, on an unrelated note, if you’ve got a couple of minutes to spare, please check out Roller Bomber, my November submission to www.onegameamonth.com. I’m always looking for ways to improve my game development, so I’d appreciate any feedback.

I also wrote a postmortem for it HERE.

Thanks, and good luck to everyone.

I’m in!

I’ve been looking at Ludum Dare for a few years and finally pushed myself to do it. Hopefully I can learn new things and make cool things!

I will be using LUA LÖVE, Paint.net and/or Graphicsgale, and Tiled if necessary…

I’m In

As long as nothing happens to limit the time I’ll have for #34, I’m in. Will be my sixth game jam and my second attempt at Ludum Dare. Last time I had to drop out 24hrs in after my schedule changed. Hopefully that won’t happen this time as I really want to submit something good for Ludum Dare. Will be working with a couple of other guys so will be a Jam entry.

100% most definitely to probably be in this time

So I’m here to say I’m hopefully in if life will forego happening for just one weekend. I want to focus on a catchy 3d art style with minimal coding this go around. Will be a test for sure, but hey, why else do it?

Tools:

Engine: Unity5

Art: Photoshop

Models: Blender

Music: Lmms ( probably won’t do anything with music because I’m terrible with music… but then again I’m terrible with all these tools so who knows.)

Looking forward to see you all at the end of the tunnel (maybe).

Noice 😀

LD 34 via my iPhone

Yes, you heard it!
I’m gonna be travelling without computer, so will be jamming on my slow iPhone 4(not even s).
I’m creating a framework for unity that reads my custom txt code format for text based games, so you’ll probably hear more when that’s done!

Happy jamming!

Im In

That’s right i’m in for my second Ludum Dare compo. First time I did not finish in the end due to some complications but I have set aside a hole weekend of my life to attempt to finish this year. I have been developing my engine ever since the last Ludum Dare, and shall keep developing right up to when the compo starts. This is going to be a fun way to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.

I will be using:

PIXL(My custom engine made from a pure java environment)

BFXR(Sound effects)

PhotoShop(Graphics)

Audacity(Music Editing)

See you guys at the finish line(Hopefully)

James

I’m in again!

Hi, fellow devs!

I’m in again for my sixth time! This time, I plan on working on game design a whole lot more. Lack of proper planning was definitely a major flaw in my previous entries.

Tools

Game Engine : Unity, probably 2D along with A* Pathfinding by Aron Granberg, probably (http://arongranberg.com/astar/)

Graphics : Adobe Photoshop CS5

Music : Abundant Music Generator

Sound effects : Sfxr

Planning : Evernote, pen and paper

Good luck!

True Story

One of my professors rearranged my final exam date so I could do Ludum Dare! I didn’t even have to make up an excuse. I was like “Ludum Dare!” and he was like “Of course, I understand!”

So I’m totally in.

My tool stack:
Some kind of engine.
Definitely some photoshop (courtesy of my last job. screw you guys, i’m keeping yer photoshop).
Sound effects will probably be me making weird noises into my headset mic.

I hope my professors will be as cool as yours.

I’m in !

Well, well, well… I think we’ve all been expecting that moment : Ludum Dare 34 is coming ! And I’ll be part of the event for the third time (in a row) !

I’ll be using :

  • Eclipse IDE for Java
  • Pixelmator and Gimp
  • Audacity and some procedural sound generators
  • A Wacom One graphic pad
  • A lot and a lot of coffee, some pizza, sandwiches, etc…

The goal this time, finish another game and rank in top 100 in at least one category !

If you want to check my previous entries, here they are :
Happy ! (LD32)
A Battle for the Graveyard (LD33)

Also, as usual, I’ll be dev-blogging during the event in French here !

See you in a week or so and… Good luck everyone !

…Et merde à toi pour ton 3e Ludum Dare 😉

I’d like to participate in the Ludum Dare

Is it too late to join in? This will be my first time participating. I may record a timelapse if I’m able to!

It’s not too late at all. There is still a whole week before it starts and people can even join during the event if they think they still have the time to finish something.

I’m in!

I’M IN! 😀

This is going to be my second Ludum Dare.
I will be using HTML5 Canvas + JavaScript. No 3rd party libs like Phaser etc. It will be a 3D game (yes, I’m going to write my own 3D algorithm in JavaScript)

I’m already extremely hyped, so I’ve got a little checklist with all the stuff I need to do/get to be fully prepared for Ludum Dare. I thought it would be nice to share it? :)

  • Gather songs/mixes for a huge playlist
  • Update all software/tools
  • Code random stuff, just to get into the ‘gamedev code flow’
  • Get a whiteboard
  • Test livestream software/setup
  • Get enough paper/pens (to write stuff down / draw things)
  • Buy a lot of coffee/7Up
  • Get all of my dev friends to participate as well in this amazing competition! 😉

So, that’s everything I can think of right now. I wish all of you guys best of luck during Ludum Dare 34!

Have fun!

You’re going to write a software 3D renderer for the HTML 5 canvas tag? 😀 On the day or beforehand?
03. Dec 2015 · 15:56 UTC
wait… you’re going to do what? If you actually manage to pull that off you will absolutely be my personal hero. I will seriously frame a picture of you and hang it on my office wall. Not even kidding. Lol.

Huh, 3D rendering in canvas rather than WebGL? Interesting choice.
