I’m in for round two!

I’m in! My goal back in August was to participate in 4 game jams throughout the year: LD 33, LD 34, LD 35, and global game jam. LD 33 was fun and I learned a lot, but now it is time for my second jam of the year: LD 34!

Tools I’ll be using:

1. GameMaker Studio for code and engine stuff.

2. Reason, Audacity, Finale, and BFXR for audio stuff.

3. GIMP for art stuff.

4. Paper for design stuff.

Last time I was couch surfing and made the game from coffee shops, the university campus near where I live, and a coffee table at a friend’s house. This time I have my desk setup and everything, but I do have to work during one day of the event. For LD 33, I submitted my game to the Jam, but this time I’m going for the Compo.

Hope everyone has fun!

my 3rd Ludum

This will be my 3rd Ludum Dare

wish me luck d(=3=)b

me : Programmer

Engine : Unity2D

art : photoshop

are you artist ? wanna collab? cmon contact me :3

Iniam again

As always with limited time,

it is difficult to shine,

maybe i will be granted by the muse

a decent game idea to use

and enough time and wit

to implement it

As always:

Crap!

Crap crap crap! I have a test the day after LD. I think I can study for it in one day, but that means… only saturday for LD :(

Just use the themes of your class in your game – kill two bird with one stone!

In!

Hey guys. I tried Ludum Dare last time but couldn’t think of anything good for the theme, so hopefully I’ll be able to actually make something this time 😛

I’m using HaxeFlixel, FlashDevelop, Photoshop, SFXR and LMMS.

Good luck and have fun everyone! :)

I’m in.

I’m in for the fourth time !

2D or 3D ? Compo or jam ? Card game, silly action game, abstract exploration game or tough as nails bullet hell ? I don’t know yet…

Tools of the trade : JavaScript / FL Studio / Audacity / Gimp / Blender / Git(hub) / Pen and paper

Recent jam works : Öde (procjam 2015), Stochastèmes (procjam 2015), Subterranean (LD33) and Imithe (JSSTG 2015)

Good luck everyone !

In for my 4th Ludum Dare

Hey, just posting this to say “I’m in!” for the comp. This is my 4th Ludum Dare, but my last one was #29, way back in April 2014. I’ve used various flavors of Java for my games in the past (applets, libgdx) but I might change it up this year with an Android game, a browser game in JavaScript/HTML5 or something else (!).

Tools:

  • Language: Java (libgdx/Android) / JavaScript (probably with some library, maybe I’ll learn Processing.js) / Something else (C++, python, something new?)
  • IDE: Eclipse/Android Studio/Sublime Text 2
  • Art: Paint.NET, GIMP
  • SFX: Bfxr etc, Audacity
  • Music: I’ve been playing around with pixitracker, which I really like. Also LLMS
  • 3D models (if I have to…): Blender

We’re in for the Jam!

Usually I do the LD by myself, but this time I’m gonna introduce a friend to it, and why not do so by doing the LD together?! :)

That’s why @andredotj and I will be entering the Jam as a team! We’re both programmers at the core, so we’ll see how this goes. Looking forward to the event! I am currently in Japan and my friend in Sweden, so the time gap will be a challenge for sure!

I have at least a little pixel art experience (even tho i am still very bad at it) so I will focus on doing graphics foremost and be a programming backup, while he will focus solely on the code. Don’t know what we’re gonna do about music and sounds, as Jam is more relaxed in its rules, but I think we’ll try to create as much as possible by ourselves and use external material only as needed.

Our tools:

Engine: Unity3d (with 2D)
Coding language: C#
Code editor (for me): Visual Studio
Graphics editor: PhotoshopVersion control/Project sync: Git
Sound/music: [unknown]

My library that I use for every Unity project: https://bitbucket.org/taviandir/unityextensions/src

Let’s enjoy the ‘Dare! 😀

I’m in

Hey everyone.

This is my first Ludum Dare, as well as my first game dev jam ever. I’ve made a few tiny games over the last three years, but I’ve never completed anything substantial. I’m hoping that the time constraint will provide the motivation to get something out the door.

Tools:

  • Development: Unity 5
  • Scripting: MonoDevelop (tried to get VS Code working but its not quite up to par as of yet)
  • 3D Stuff (if I end up doing 3D): Blender
  • Art: Gimp and/or Pixen
  • Sound: Audacity and Bfxr

Good luck and have fun!

New team joining for LD34!

Hello!

A bunch of collegues from our company got together and decided we want to make games! So the Kenze Game Team is ready and eager for LD34!

Check out our modest (and very quickly built) website here.

See you this weekend!

I’m in ! my 2nd LDJAM !

Hi everyone,

I’m in for the 2nd participation. A little bit of stress but also many forward forward to start this 34th edition !

I think I will again develop in Java and use :

– Netbeans, SublimeText2 for Java code
– Photoshop CS5 for graphism
– Audacity and Bfxr and LMMS for sounds and musics
– Some sheets and pencils for drawings, sketches and thoughts
– Lot’s coffee, pizzas ( My personnal fuel :) )
– Electronic music for concentration

Goal : Finish another game in 48 hours and have better rating than be first participation.

Changes for new edition !!! I have my personnal website in french ( Because i’m French ) here

I wish good luck everyone !!! And welcomes all French participants at the same time.

Code snippets for everyone to use

Hey everyone,

For my own use I’d been coding up some base code for items and levels. So as of yesterday I’ve put them up over at itch.io and it’s called Basecode Bits.

It’s free to use for anything and will be updated with different little snippets predominantly for game dev and game jams.

This is what’s currently included in the small pack:

  • Level Object.
  • Item Object.
  • Basic Level Generation Code.

If you have any ideas or suggestions then post a comment over on the itch.io page.

I’ll be glad to participate in this little ‘happening’

So, I’m in. I have nothing but a free weekend ahead of me, admittedly after a Friday night of Christmas drinks with friends, but I have nothing else. I have just completed my final topic of Uni with Distinction and am looking to celebrate and put my brain to good use. What better way to do that than make a game in 48 hours?

Tools:

  • Game Maker: Studio
  • Paint.net
  • Sublime Text 3

Extras:

  • Spotify – I’ll be throwing together a playlist largely consisting of stoner rock (Kyuss, Colour Haze, Om, Sleep, that sort of thing) as well as a smattering of other favourites

Keen to get this started, let’s see some great entries, people. Good luck!

LD34, me voici !

LD33 was damn fun, expect me ! 😉

I am very excited about LD34 and the outcome of the theme. But most of all, I can’t wait to play all the fun games all of you will make. Have a good Ludum Dare everyone !

I am in!

I am in for my 3rd LD and the second solo one.

I think I will aim again for something 2D since 3D takes more time and I usualy want to spend more time on game mechanics.

My Entry for LD#33 Drama in Space (*link*) went well but I think i can do better now (and yes, I am still working on Drama in Space, its quite a diffrent game now :) )

I will use Java with libGDX, Eclipse, Gimp, Bfrx, Audacity and maybe some more.

I most likely will stream my progress on twitch.

Never thought I’ll blog for a game jam…

especially before it even started. Well here we are.

I’m assembling some of my friends and former teammates for another game jam, first time Ludum Dare (always missed the term).

We’ll apparently go jam and we’d like to make something nice.

Some tools we’ll (probably) use:

  • Code: SFML/C++
  • Documentation: markdown, doxygen
  • Graphics: Aseprite, ?
  • Music: Audacity, autotracker?, ?
  • Sounds: sfxr?, ?
  • Versioning: git, something else for binary blobs?
  • Communication: IRC, face to face, flipchart, issue tracker
  • Promotion: twitter, website?, ?
  • Playtesting: LD gathering @ Prague, friends?
  • Continuous Integration: Jenkins? (if we can get it going)
  • Distribution: deb packages, rpm packages?, NSIS?, dmg packages? (we’ll see what we can do, zip files are always good backup solution)
  • Placeholder Art: OGA
  • Energy: tea, coffee, energy drinks, coke, food, sleep :)
  • Time Management: ?

Even though it’s not a rule for jam, we’d like to release everything we create this LD under free licences. Code will most probably go MIT or BSD and multimedia CC-BY.

Right now, we are:

  • 1 Game Designer/Team Lead/Lead Programmer
  • 1 Music Composer
  • 1 2D/Pixel Artist (probably Saturday only)

I have a few more folks on maybe, including 1 extra programmer and 1 extra artist. Unfortunately we’ll be probably missing some more people we always relied on in past jams including an UX specialist and English copywriter/corrector, who can’t do this weekend.

We’d like to finish and we’d like to produce something nice. Not necessarily price winning, but enjoyable. If you’d like to build something this LD, but don’t think compo is for you, you might join us locally or remotely, even just for brainstorming, playtesting or to look under our hands and comment (that can be pretty helpful too!). If you can fill in some missing links in our team, even better. Drop me a note on here or on IRC.

Looking forward for this jam! This time we are more ready than ever. See you all down in the arena and good luck to all your projects!

Eremiell

I’m in.

Been a while since I did an LD, but I’m back in for this one, having a free weekend.

I’m wanting to use libGDX, but suspect I’ll probably fall back on Unity3D, though I’m nervous about Unity’s WebGL support. However, I haven’t coded Java in a long time and have probably forgotten all the caveats and pitfalls of good practice.

So, let’s theorise:

Programming: Eclipse / LibGDX
Art: Pixelmator (possibly ASEprite too)
Music / Sound: Cubase 7.5

Though most likely will run screaming and flapping my arms around to Unity at the 13th hour…

Cool me too.. i am well versed in unity3d… but dont like the closed source part cant able to make some advanced level of gameplay… i am hoping to achive that in libgdx..

I am new to libgdx, when ever i am getting time i am learning libgdx..

Now trying to learn and make a game for LD34..

all the best

I’m in for a demi-weekend!

Forward!

This weekend I’ll have about 1.2 days of time to spend on le Ludum Dare! (woe me, never a full weekend anymore…)

I will try to compensate a bit by doing some one-day exercise games this week.

Tools:

  • Engine: Unity3D
  • Pixels: Photoshop
  • Vectors & art: Inkscape
  • Sound  & editing: Audacity
  • Music: always my weak point… will try Bosca Ceoil again I think (but looking for better off-the-cuff music makers/generators)

I’m in!

Obligatory I’m in Post.

Tools are Java, Slick2d and copious amounts of coffee.
