Ludum Dare 52 January 6–9, 2023

Surprise Ludum Dare to Kick off the Year!

I could have sworn it was 2022 a few days ago and now there is suddenly a Ludum Dare going on? 😅

Well I did my part and voted on the themes. I tend to like to hit a 5:5:5 ratio of like:neutral:dislike but at this point I'd be happy to see any do well :)

Moth mode activated

My first thought was: "What? Another game jam so soon? No... I'll pass on that." - My thought now: "I'm like a moth, I have to go towards the light" - LD is an addiction for me, but damn it, I love it.

I wish all jammers a lot of fun and a great time at the upcoming event!

Looking for a team!

Hi Everyone! My name is Sangita (she/they), and I'm looking for teammates for this weekend's game jam! I mostly do game writing, narrative design, and project management/producing. Let me know if you'd like to work together!

I sure am excited

Wish all of you good luck

Looking for others in the upcoming jam

I work in Godot and can assist in music, art and game design. I typically make arcade or platformer type games.

You can check out greymagic.itch.io to see what I've made in Ludum Dares and other game jams. If you're interested to collab hit me up brah!

Looking for team!

Hey all,

I'm predominantly a programmer working in Unity and am looking to join/create a team for this jam! Accepting artists, animators, musicians, gameplay designers, anyone really!

Send me a message if you'd like to see my portfolio :)

Im in for the LD52

As usual participating the game jam LD52

As usual developing game with open source tools only..

Probably try the Defold Game Engine for a 2D game or Godot 4.0 for a 3D game.. final decision based on theme and game idea

Art tools : Krita and Blender3D

Last joined in 2014, looking forward again :)

Last time I did LD was back in 2014 with my entry Underground Fortune with GameMaker:Studio. Long time has passed, time developing games, not developing games, doing web stuff at my job || free time, etc. Since I noticed there'll be LD52 on Jan. 6th, I told myself after all those years, I should join again. I've been practicing doing stuff in Java LibGDX and Box2D lately for this LD, so hopefully I'll be able to spit something out at the end of the compo ^^. Looking forward to this a lot & also looking forward to see the games you all guys make! 2 days left and here we go! Good luck to everyone, let's do this!

We're In Again! Wallpaper!

College has kept us from participating since LD47, but this January event falls over winter break! I'm excited to finally be back to a jam with one of my long-time teammates.

Tools

Code: - Godot Engine - My own C# Godot Utilities

Graphics:

  • Aseprite
  • paint.net
  • Inkscape
  • Krita
  • Blender

Audio: - Reaper - Audacity - The junk drawer in my apartment

Wallpaper

This tradition seems to have fallen off since I was last here, but I've made a wallpaper nonetheless!

I hope to make and see some cool games this weekend!

Taking an attempt.

Well, I wasn't sure if I was going to have time to join in on another LD, but it seems like life is going to be allowing for it this time.

I guess it's time to brush off my usual C++ setup with SFML and EnTT, there's no need to fix what isn't broken after all. Probably going to skip all the bells and whistles this year though, put the likes of scripting and UI frameworks aside, no idea what's happened in those spaces since I worked on a game last. Might throw in Box2D though, not that I'm sure if a physics engine is even going to be usable at all for whatever idea I come up with.

Joining this LD

It's been a while since I participated in a LDJam. In the past, I worked mostly with GameMakerStudio. Participated in the AAA (https://ldjam.com/users/awesomealliterationalliance) but only some of the early games like "RandomRemoteRush" and "JollyJailJumper". This time, I'm planning to create an interactive experience using JavaScript, potentially with the p5.js library. I'm also considering using one of the frameworks I work with, such as Symfony or Angular, to create something fun. (Just because I'm so into it right now and I wonder what Angular can do when used as Game Engine ;D) My current team includes my little brother, who may contribute music, and two coders: myself and our current apprentice at work, @nikotini. I also know some skilled artists who I hope to persuade to join the project in the coming days.

I hope we can make something that at least one random dude from the internet will enjoy :D Thats all I want ;)

A friendly reminder:

don't forget to export your games for the web if possible (help significantly in making people play your games),

linux export is highly appreciated as well for us linux folks

that's all.

I'm in #52

I kinda failed on two of the previous LDJams. But I always enjoy the event.

So I'm in again for a quick and broken game again even if I can't find the time I need or fail again, whatever...

:smiley_cat:

Participating

I think I plan to try to make a 3D game for the first time! I've been messing around with blender a bit and although I am still terribly inexperienced, I think it should do.

I will be using Unity C# and Aseprite/Blender.
