I got a rather late start on my game this time around, having only started just over 24 hours ago. I'm doing my best to take the lessons I learned in the last jam to heart and have (mostly) been bee-lining for a complete core gameplay loop before paying too much attention to graphics or anything else. I also came up with a much simpler game, which is nice, lol.
In Crop Circle, you are responsible for maintaining, planting, and harvesting the crop circle that surrounds you in a timely manner. You gain points by successfully harvesting crops and lose points for letting crops wither, either by not tending to them or by not harvesting ripe crops quick enough.
I took some additional inspiration from one of the themes in round 3 of voting, "Words have power," so Crop Circle is a typing game. You take actions by typing words.

So far, I've implemented plowing overgrown fields and planting crops. I've just started working on harvesting crops and gaining points. Then I'll add in some more complexity (tending to crops, crops withering, fields going barren, some actions requiring you to type multiple words in a row to complete them.) Hopefully I'll end up with something resembling a complete game before the end of the jam. :)
