Run!

Finished with 15 mins to spare! I'll count this one as a success, even if my web build was broken and unplayable in the end. :sob:

My game is out now. Can't wait to play others games.

gameplay-vid-2-shorter.gif

It didn't offer much, only has 1 level, so I'm planning to work on some features and levels later on. Not sure how you guys feel about the game though. Didn't have many feedbacks during the jam.

Entry is here. You can play the game there.

Can't wait to play others games too!

Karmarvest

Welcome to Karmarvest, the video game where you will have to cultivate your destiny and your karma as the most precious harvest. :sunflower: You embody a character and with every choice you make, you must consider how they will influence your future... or not Think of it like a seed that you plant in the ground : it can germinate immediately or years later. But in any case, you must take care of it and kept it away from weeds. Fate and karma are like the natural elements that will influence your harvest. They can be supportive and help you reap the rewards of your efforts, or they can be unfavorable and put the field of your hopes in danger.

Time sure flies

I wasn't really aiming at Compo, so much that I just noticed is been 10 minutes since it ended.

And with that, I'm definitely here questioning myself, will I actually be able to make the Jam? I'm short of 24 hour left and I just have basic mechanics and enemies done, not even a level, not even a main menu.....Well, I guess I'll take one or two hours to rest now and it's an all-nighter baby!! Let's go!!

Day 2 at the end

Hey everyone, just finished my first ever jam with my buddy @fargred. We had a ton of fun with the theme and some interesting roadblocks along the way. We would love for you to try the game and let us know how much wheat you were able to collect! You can find the game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/52/$316636

End of day 2!!

Extra sleepy and tired... The game loop and mechanics are all done! We just gotta finish this cool map and add a lil menu :)) (If all goes to plan)

Harvest Cascade done, uploaded and captured!

Only spent a few hours each day on this rather than a full no sleep marathon but it has been a while since I did a game jam so am easing back in.

Added Unit Stats to my Unit Inspector UI!

This is my continued progress from my LD51 game Battle Lines, aiming for a full Steam release later this year!

Battle Lines is a “tower offense” autobattler similar to a hybrid of TFT and Advance Wars. Each player buys unit cards from a common pool using harvested resources, then places them permanently on the map where they periodically attack and cast abilities like tower defense towers. However, instead of playing defensive like traditional tower defense, the goal is to build forward and destroy the opponent’s Keep while defending your own, much like an RTS! This creates chesslike strategic situations in which you have to cleverly plan ahead and position your units to control territory, push through choke points, and win the game!

Follow my progress and be the first to jump on the open Beta later this month by following me on Twitter at https://twitter.com/wingman_gaming !

And if nothing else, you can take this as hope that sometimes it is indeed possible to take that LD weekend project and turn it into a long-term work!

Lessons I've learned

This is my second run through Ludum Dare and I certainly took several lessons with me from last time.

Firstly, this time I aimed for Compo. I held no vision of actually managing to get there, but last time I felt too relaxed with "it's just Jam" and that affected the final product a lot.

Secondly, I aimed MUCH lower this time in scope. Instead of an overly ambitious project, I had a single, simple mechanic in mind and built on that.

Thirdly, there's no such thing as perfection. Don't spend too much time getting everything perfect, it will take your whole life and longer to do that, there will always be something you think is wrong with your own work.

Fourthly, relax. Don't procrastinate, but also don't stress about it. It's about having fun and enjoying game development, if you stress about the submission you'll miss the main goal of this entire event.

And with that, I released what I think is a game. It has rules, it has interactions. Might barely fit into the category, but here we are, it's submitted for your approval.

This warm, familiar feeling

Uploaded my game, now I'm incredibly happy and incredibly tired. There's nothing like working super hard on something and being happy with how it turned out. Thank you Ludum Dare for giving me this opportunity time and time again. I'm really looking forward to playing all the games and getting to know what people think of mine!

Here is my 1st compo : Wheater of the Colossus !

Hi ! After doing many jams with teams, here is the time for a challenge to myself : My first Compo entry !?

And to be honest, maaaaan that was hard !! :skull:

On top of that, I wanted to try out some new stuff : 3rd person view game ? A super boss-fight ? Climbing on a Colossus ? with 48h instead of 72h ?! For real, where was my head  :sweatdrops:

At the end, I barely made it and was only been able to implement the main feature I wanted, with some minimal UI. No music, no sounds/sfx, no effects. I feel like I failed this entry but at the same time, I still managed to make what I wanted to try (kind of). So I'm not sure how should I feel about it to be honest...

Anyway, It was still fun to make on the overall !

Come and try out my game : Wheater of the Colossus !

Froot Processor finished

Yay, "Froot Processor", my LD52 game is done (ish).

harvest_9.gif

Check it out. This was my first attempt at using Pico-8 and I love it! kept me from making things too complicated (mostly).

Froot Processor Compo Page

This was also the first time I've stuck to the Compo in a while instead of switching to Jam or Extra (aka burnout)

All gameplay systems in place and game world in place... but not done :(

Yesterday I implemented the gameplay mechanics, today I built the game map and world. Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish it for the compo and I won't be able to finish it for the Jam (because I have to travel tomorrow).

So I'm leaving these here. The game was supposed to be N64-stylized, a walking simulator where you relax collecting (harvesting) plants and stones. Everything you see was made using my own photos from my walks.

I may finish it for the Extra category tho.

Good luck everyone!
