Unusual themes

First time I don't see forced mechanics trying to pass as themes. Great job everyone.

We broke the "theme is always terrible" tradition at last.

I'm in

Don't have time to do the full 48 hours this time but I'll see what I can do. Will be switching from Unity to Godot for this one.

Ludum Dare 52 - Here we go!

I have not participated in Ludum Dare before, so I'm thrilled to be able to dive in this January. I grew up making physical games and filling up a TI-83's memory with an RPG, but haven't worked on making any game since Global Game Jam in 2011.

Ludum Dare seems fun and motivational, and a couple of games that I truly enjoyed have moved forward from here to become Steam releases.

Looking forward to having fun working on a game and getting to check out other games in the process!

CANNIBAL GIRL REPORTING IN

FELLOW JAM ENTHUSIASTS GOOD LUCK AND GODSPEED

I WILL GLADLY JOIN IN FOR A SECOND BATTLE WITH MY TRUSTY, RUSTY, BUT FABULOUS UNREAL ENGINE 4.23 WITH HTML5 EXPORT

SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE AND MAY YOUR BRAIN GIVE BIRTH TO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL IN THE NEXT 48/72H

:two_hearts:

Maybe break the trend

In the past, I completed every jam (or almost every jam). The last couple runs, though, I've failed to finish in time. Here's hoping to breaking the chain.

Whatever the theme, I'm going to be trying REAL hard to come up with an idea that requires absolutely minimal UI. That's the thing that always kills a lot of my dev time.

Usual tools: - Engine: Unity - Sprites: Photoshop - Animation: AfterEffects - Sound: BFXr - Music (if there's time): Probably Cakewalk

I'm in after 15 months without Ludum Dare - I'll try to not make a weird game

So it's been 15 months since I last took part in Ludum Dare.

For the past 6 months I've been working (on my free time) on my first commercial Steam game, Brazilian Street Food Simulator, but I want to cool off and do gamedev unrelated to it, so I'm in!

In LD I tend to make weird games with little to no gameplay:

So this time I'll try to do a game in the sense of a "pure" game. I will TRY (I don't promise) to not invent anything, I will TRY to follow common and simple conventions, let's see.

Tools: I always use and used Godot (I'm even a Godot contributor), but I will use either Unity or UE for this LD. I'll decide when I see the theme!

Woo! hopefully :)

Been itching to do some jammy goodness for a while. Going to use it as a mechanism to play with Unreal 5.1 more. Hopefully actually not try to over complicate myself this time and actually finish for once :D

I'm in - first timer

I've never done this before. Here goes nothin'!

GL to you all!

What's Up Party People!!!

This is my first time posting a post but not the first time I'm participating in Ludum Dare, this is probably my third one and I hope to get something good out this time! Hope the best to ya'll!!!

Bevy Bevy Bevy!

Second attempt at using Bevy in this jam :D

Other tools include - neovim, - krita, - blender, - lmms (with the amazing Surge)

Keynote!

I'm not sure if we're getting a keynote again this time, so feel free to check out the last-minute community keynote from last jam! Thanks for those who got involved again, and happy jamming to all!

Oh Shoot

I just realized that the people are listing their tools so might as well join the trend!

Engine: GDEVELOP 5 4EVAHHHH!!! Art: Piskel, Krita, Inkscape SFX: Jfxr, My mouth Music: Bosca Ceiol(dunno if that's right)

Haven't done a dare in a few years.

Never actually completed a ludum dare project before so hopefully I can push myself to do that this time.

I'll be using Unity :)

Haskell Game Engine

Hey all, I'll be joining LD with my custom vulkan based 3d game engine I've been writing from scratch in Haskell.

There's still no audio support so I'll either figure a very simple way to do it during the game jam or I'll attach a youtube playlist to the game ahah

The above image is a screenshot from a game written in said custom engine

Here's a pre-release post where I talk a little about the engine https://discourse.haskell.org/t/monthly-update-on-a-haskell-game-engine/5515

Last Theme Poll post!

Something I like to do every LD is take a little poll of what themes people voted +1 for. It's not always accurate, and it's not a perfect science since it doesn't take into account 0 votes or -1 votes, but I still enjoy doing it. Plus, it is a great way to start conversations about the different themes, and why people like/dislike them.

So, with that being said, please feel free to click the link, select the themes you voted +1 for, and see the live results! Thanks to everyone who has participated thus far.

Update: So far, 265 jammers have voted and Salvage is in a slight lead with 100 votes, followed closely by Delivery at 98 votes. Harvest is a little further away at 85 votes. Still, this one has been fairly close, so any of the themes could still win. Predictions? :)

TAKE THE POLL! (if you haven't already)
