Obligatory “IN” post

New account for reasons, but this will be my fifth attempt at Ludum Dare.  Failed two times due to programming being hard(lol), and twice due to work.  I have high hopes this time will go much better.

Might do a time lapse of the weekend, haven’t decided yet.

Lilly and the Gang

Here is my main protagonist, Lilly, and her first two enemies.  Time to take a short break, then get movement and what not working.

Slowly but surely

Well, I’m slowly getting there.  I got the enemies moving, changing directions, and not going past waypoints.  Collision detection between the enemies and player too way to freakin’ long to set up though.  Collision between two Character Controllers in Unity shouldn’t be as convoluted as it is.  Just have to chalk this one up to inexperience. (Just started learning Unity two weeks ago.)  But now it’s time for a nap.  Going to add shooting, death, and variable zombie speed when I get up.  Then it’s on to sound/music, extra levels, and then what ever else I have time for.  Assuming I have time for any of it haha.

Back again!

Got the whole weekend off so I will being LDing it up for sure! =)  I used GameMaker Studio for my GB Jam game a few weeks ago, but I think I’ll be hopping back into 3d with Unity for this compo.  Hopefully I can finish this time too.  Twice in a row would be stellar! ^_^ Should be fun!

Hi do you want to join my Game Jam group? It’s just me and another guy and you if you want. I would appreciate the help a lot!! If so, skype me. My username is Digifigure :)

In! (I hope)

Looking forward to another LD Jam! I have orientation at a new job on Friday, so hopefully they don’t have me start until after the weekend.  I really don’t want to have to do a one day(or less lol) jam.  No matter what though, I’m making something this weekend. I’ll either be using Unity or Game Maker, depending on the theme. And I’ll probably make it Christmas/Winter related in some way. ^_^

Progress!

It took me a little while, but I came up with a game idea for “Everything on one screen” AND “Snowman” 😉  You play as a Snow woman that has to collect stolen presents to save the Holidays! Each level will be contained to a single screen, similar to Pacman, Towerfall, ect. The levels will also be populated by random hazards and enemies.  At the moment I don’t plan on adding any kind of player attack.  Instead, the game will be all about avoidance and speed.  So far I’ve got the player movement working, presents, and the door to go to the next level.  After I get some sleep I will start working on enemies and traps.  I’ll probably get a few more levels prototyped out after that before I start working on the actual artwork.  Here’s the progress so far:  http://s24.postimg.org/l8bhrk5r9/prototype.png

Progress Update 2: It’s getting there

Had a late start today due to sleeping and shopping, but I’m getting there! I got two of my three basic hazards implemented.  Going to do the third next and then it’s on to some enemies.  I also got a persistent timer setup to track how fast you complete the game.  I’m hoping to have it save a local file with top scores, but we’ll see if I get that far.  After enemies I think I’m going to take a coding break to mix up some quick sounds and music.  After that it’s level building time and then, if I have time, I’ll start replacing all the place holder art and UI.  Having fun so far, and I think I will definitely finish a game this time.  I’m just not too sure how pretty it’s going to be ^_^

Super Snowgirl Dash! Complete!

I actually finished my game this time! That makes 2 of the last 3 LDs successful! ^_^  I never did get to replace the basic place-holder art though.  I have a game that starts, can be played, and beaten haha.  Well, it can be beaten if you hate yourself.  I think I might have made some of the levels a bit too tough. Oh well!  Check it out here:

It’s Windows only at the moment.  For some reason when I export to HTML5 my icicle traps stop working completely. Not sure what’s causing that to happen. =/

Yo, I’m in.

I’ll be joining the jam this weekend. Hope to actually finish something this time lol.

Progs: Game Maker Studio, Photoshop, sfxr, beepbox.co

I’m in! (For one day)

I’m in the middle of five weeks of working 60 hours and my only day off is Saturday. :( So I’ll be trying to make a game in a single day haha. Using GameMaker Studio 2.0, beepbox.co for music, and Bfxr for sound effects. I’m gonna try and do all of the art assets in GMS 2’s new image editor to really test it out. Should be fun!

LD 38

I'm in!

Got all 3 days off so I'll be doing the jam solo(I just really like the extra day lol). I'm feeling pretty confident I'll be able to finish a game this time, which is something I haven't done since LD31.

Using: - Game Maker Studio 2 - Photoshop - Either Pyxel or Spriter Pro(depending on what art style I go with) - Bfxr - Beepbox.co

Ludum Dare 46

First LD completion in 5 years

This was the first LD Ive been able to submit a game for since LD31 in Dec 2014 \o/

I wasnt able to finish everything I wanted too, most notably the graphics and some music and more levels, but Im still pretty happy with how it turned out. Probably going to keep working on it too and see if I cant turn it into a full game eventually. ^^
