Tiny Thor: Back to retro style again

We are currently working on an improved version of Tiny Thor which we had created for Ludum Dare #28.

We changed the graphics to a more HD approach but all people told us they prefered the retro style, so we decided to change the style back to retro graphics but try to improve on them:

This is our new char:

Here are some new mock ups:

Starbust Post Mortem

Feature

Starbust (link) was a game I made for the LD #30. I made it in a little time (about 8h) using Construct 2 and it went very well placing #85 in Overall and #54 in Fun. A great result for me!

After a short period I decided to get to learn Unity engine and together with a friend we decided to remake Starbust from scratch using Unity as an exercise.

The result is today up on the Google Play Store!

The stars like dust encircle me

In living mists of light;

And all of space I seem to see

In one vast burst of sight.

Yamanu 2.0 – Coming Soon!

Hello all!

Yamanu Game Engine 2.0 has been wonderful to work on. I’ve really enjoyed it. The scheduled release is going to be Friday, but the work in progress code can be viewed on GitHub here. I will work as much as I can on it before Friday, because it’s not all done, and I’d like to get it done by, or on Friday. If anyone wants to help work on this project, feel free to email me at gandalf1209@techpandainc.com. If you find any bugs, add an issue to the repository and I’ll take a look at it! Hopefully some people will use the game engine for their game for LD31!

I’m in

Of course I’m in!  I don’t care what theme it is, or how I may not have time for good graphics, but I am in!  After the last mini-LD I am into this!

The “I’m in” posts are here already? Well, I’m in.

This will be my second LD Compo, my first was 30. Hopefully this time I will make something more visually appealing – this time I’ll use a game engine rather than writing code from scratch and focus more on the game design, sound and overall aesthetics.

So far I haven’t decided what engine I’ll use, but it’ll probably be Game Maker: Studio. (Or Unity if I learn how to make 2d games with it.)

I wish everyone luck!

I’m in!

I will be using Gamemaker!

I recently bought some Xbox controllers, so hopefully my game will have gamepad support!

Its a really nice chrome plated one as well…

Hmmm… shiny…

Let’s hope the theme is Procrastination, because I would really excel…

:3

Good luck to all!

I’m Dave… I mean, IM IN!

This will be my second LD. I had a great time at the last one, but this time I’m going to prepare a bit more.

The first time was a bit spontaneous – a spur of the moment idea – and I paid the price the week after. So this time I’ve booked both the Friday and Monday off work to both prepare for the late-night start, and to recover and return to normal sleep patterns when it’s done :)

I’ll likely use Unity again, and good ol’ Photoshop Elements 10 and Spritr for graphics and animation. BFXR for sound effects and, with any luck I’ll have time to do proper music with Caustic.

Herbert passed the $1 mark and I’m in!

So it appears my October Challenge game “Herbert Crawler” has already made a couple of dollars. I suppose I’m a proper indie dev now? No? Well, it looks like I will be making more gubbins in a few weeks with LD31 just around the corner.

I will probably be using:

– C++

– OpenGL and/or SDL 2

– Visual Studio 2013

– Photoshop CC

– sfxr

You can get said game here:

Yeah! Awsome!

Oh wait.

It’s a survey.

Don’t do this ever again please, this is one of the reasons I gave you the award! 😉

Yeah, if downloading the free game requires visiting an ad-laden survey site, I’m pretty sure I *do* want to miss the offer actually. Thanks, but no thanks.

A survey… Hmm – shouldn’t be there, anyway.. I’ll try to fix it!

OK, fixed it!

In already. This time more prepared!

Heya,

I see people are starting the “I’m in” hype already and of course I can’t be left out. This is my second LD, last time I didn’t manage to finish though (some bugs in the code kept things from running properly).

This time I will actually prepare though!

I’ll be using:
Programming Language: Java
IDE: Eclipse
Libraries: (lwjgl) Libgdx – Or if things go wrong, Slick2D
Basecode: -in progress-

Graphics: GIMP, Paint.NET, a Pencil, a cheap Wacom graphics tablet
Sounds: I never actually learned to play Piano or the likes, but i’ll be using my Yamaha Keyboard to make some sound effects! Maybe i’ll even manage to hack something simple together as BGM… I’ll deal with that when the rest of the game works though.

I intend to finish in time for the Compo, but in case of doubt I don’t have University on Monday, so I can finish for the JAM still.

Good luck to everyone, let’s continue the Hype for a month longer!

I’m in again!

I am in for my third LD, and really looking forward to it. I am probably going to change some of this later, but as of right now I plan to use:

Unity

Monodevelop

Notepad++

Scripting in C#

Audactiy

ASEPRITE

GIMP

LSDJ (running in an emulator)

Maybe SFXR

I’ll update later if I decide to use any libraries/plugins. Going A * path finding is likely, depending on what I do.

GLHF Y’all!

Sudokil Devlog #1- Hacking/Scripting type game

Here’s the first video showing off the work I started on a new project nicknamed Sudokil. The game revolves around having to use the command line interface to type commands into the game. Through the CLI, you are able to navigate a file system full of scripts and entities using UNIX like commands. Using the scripts, you can control various entities, devices and machines like robots, doors, cameras and computers.

At the moment, I have made the base game engine in Java using a few libraries including libGDX, Artemis Entity System Framework, libgdx-utils, and Apache Commons CLI. I use a few complex design patterns like the entity component system or the service locator. The engine constructs the map, entities and filesystem based off a number of JSON files I feed into it, meaning that I don’t need to touch code to edit the map and entities on it. At the moment, I have to construct these JSON files by hand though, so my next steps in development will include making a level editor and improving the command line interface (features like auto complete when typing, and actual entity/variables editing)

I made a bunch of GIFs showing off some of the features so far. (Click to enlarge)

I like the concept! The only downfall is that it wouldn’t appeal to people who don’t want to learn the commands, but this is awesome, and I like the prototype!

I am In!

This will be my third Ludum Dare in a row. I love participating, and a hope to learn and have fun, as always.

I will use:

Construct 2

Audacity

bfxr

PyxelEdit

Inkscape

Photoshop

I’m in!

Last time I competed was Ludum Dare 28. I managed to ‘finish’ a game called you only get 1 banana. I was pretty happy with it, simple and fun for a short time.

I used as3 with flixel in flashdevelop, however this time I’ve decided to go with something else, ClickTeam Fusion 2.5. I have no idea what to expect, but it seems pretty straightforward, however I hope I do get to do some coding, as that is the part I enjoy the most.

Good luck guys and girls!

I’m In

Hey Guys…….

I’m In

SFXR

FamiTracker (?? i have never actually got round to making music :P)

Good Luck Everyone!! (Pick a good theme please)

I would give IntelliJ a try – you can write a lot faster than Eclipse, since you don’t really need to take your hands off the keyboard, and Live Templates accelerate common things so much.

I’m in.

This time.

I will do this!

3rd ludum dare. No more Java. Here’s what I’ll be using:

Language: Haxe, probably. Maybe clojurescript or javascript.

Art: Pixelmator

Level Design (if any): Tiled

Sound Effects: sfxr

Music: SunVox

Other stuff: ShoeBox

I’m In!

This is my first LD, but i’m in! Hopefully I’ve learned enough programming to actually do this XD I’ll Be using Unity Free, Blender and Famitracker (Music)

I will be streaming so yea.

In I am

Everyone seems to be doing this, so here we go.

Art: I’ll be doing my ‘Art’ in Adobe Fireworks

Sound: Reason by Propellerhead

Gameplay: Game Maker Studio

MISSION

The first LD I entered (Beneath the Surface) I did in a team. The game was great, very proud of what we came up with. The second LD (Connected Worlds) I did solo and enjoyed a lot. Unfortunately the scope was way too big… bugs with GameMaker also stopped me adding audio to the game so I kind of gave up in the last few hours.

This time my mission is polish! I want to make something extremely simple… like codeable, by ME, in 6 hours. Then I want to spend all the remaining time on making it feel gorgeous. I’ve never focused on polish at all, so this time I’m hoping I can make my game feel pretty professional by submission. It will be simple, but it will be pretty.
