LD22 December 16–19, 2011

This music developing api

I would like you guys opinion on this. I found this music creation api, called Aviary Myna. It runs on browser, so you can check it our really quick here: http://www.aviary.com/online/audio-editor

From what I understood, the audio you create there is copyright free, so, could I use it on the next LD?

I think that I am going to use it! TY

Waiting for LD #22

I’m In!

After a pretty good mini LD I think that it is a good time for the real thing.

I am going to use:

  • As3 – FlashDevelop
  • Flixel
  • Chronolapse
  • Dyyno (I think that I’m going to do a live stream)
  • Alot of candies chocolate water cookies…
  • Skype (For friend’s encouragement)
  • Graphics tools (GraphicsGale, Inkscape etc)
  • Sfxr and maybe Aviary’s Myna
  • 48 Hours

So good luck every one and happy programming!

Totally in!

I do not believe I’ve failed to submit to a LD yet since I started on LD 17…. oh, apart from LD20.

I’ve submitted after working the same weekend as the LD, however this Winter LD will be my biggest challenge; surviving my work Christmas Party on the Friday night (GMT) and managing to create a game after getting hideously drunk on free alcohol!

Oh well, Ive got a few weeks to ready myself 😀

I’m definitely sure that I might might Be In!

I said that I was going to be in last Ludum Dare… but I was alot more inexperienced in the art of programming back then, I have grown alot more now but there is still the problem of not actually being able to program a game.

So I have 12 days to learn as much Python/Pygame as possible (As that is my weapon of choice).

Another problem is that for a part of the Ludum Dare weekend I will be over at a “friends” house (Friend of the family) and will have to work their either on my laptop and/or some rudimentary programming on my iPad (Which will be very difficult >:\)

So, for now I’m in but… let’s just see how things go!

Hey! I may or may not be taking part myself, with similar weapons, so to speak. I’m not exactly experienced myself, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask me! Also, the tutorials on the pygame website are awesome, and if you need to turn your game into a .exe, cx-freeze is good. :)

I’d suggest drawing on your iPad instead of trying to program

Enter the Comp

Just posting to declare that im entering the compo i have a few ideas but nothing really solid due to the lack of theme

I’m in.

Once again, I’ll be here for the December LD48. I enjoyed it so much last year, but scheduling conflicts prevented me from competing in the April and August competitions.

I’ll be using Java and either Slick, LibGDX or jMonkeyEngine. GDX is a much more robust library for 2D games to me than Slick, although it is harder to use, but I have been wanting to try my hand at a 3D game for some time. My only worry is that, since I’m so fresh with 3D design, I won’t be able to finish it in time, and my lack of asset creation skills would probably get in the way. I’m even worse at 3D modelling than I am at sprite making.

For asset creation, I will use bfxr for sound effects, Photoshop CS5 for images, Blender for models (if needed) and PXTone or FamiTracker for music (if I even get around to that). Last year, I only managed to make fanfare music for pickups in FamiTracker, but I also spent a hell of a lot of time on bug fixing that could have been done much better had I used a better collision technique.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing all the cool entries this upcoming compo!

I’m so in.

During the last Ludum Dare, I made EscapeOut (which has been updated to v1.1, available on my website here). It’s been the source for many good things for me. First, it was included with the 2012 IGF Pirate Kart. It blows my mind that, in a small way, my second game ever is currently under IGF consideration. Second, I got to watch a whole mess of people play EscapeOut at Gamercamp Lv3, including Seth Cooper of the Foldit program. These are some of my proudest accomplishments.

So, of course I’m in!

I’m excited (and in)

My first #ld48 – I’m going to be making a 2D game in Canvas, I’ve already completed a massively multiplayer WebGL + NodeJS game and I’m feeling like I can achieve anything right now.

Next Friday, I’ll be buying a weekend’s supply of pizza, coffee and fresh fruit, kicking open a Google Hangout or something similar and solo bro-gramming my way to something that will hopefully be complete.

I’m spending the next two weeks learning about the 2D side of development after doing all the 3D stuff in the browser I need to find out what the canvas limitations are, but with squares and rectangles – anything is possible.

I am In-ski

Hope I get to use some of the ideas I have, :S, otherwise game == fail :)

Edit:

Language : Java

IDE : NetBean

Libraries : LWJGL

Sound : None i don’t think

Graphics : Paint.NET

I’m in!

I am in. Can’t wait. Joy!

I’m in!!

Man, why do I love LD so much? Is it the cheesy orange theme? The delicious food photos? The warm fuzzy community? Something else?

Anyways, I’m in! Here is what I plan on using:

  • Python. Only the best language ever created.
  • Pygame. Tried and true.
  • Sublime Text 2. This is like Vim, but better. If your mind is blown by reading that statement, go check it out. If not, check it out anyway.
  • Graphics Gale. To create the most beautiful pixels the world has ever seen. EVER.
  • Linux Mint. Some weird OS no one has ever heard of.
  • Garage Band, if I can get my hands on a Mac. Otherwise, Fruity Loops.
  • Split keyboard. The importance can not be overemphasized.
  • FOOD. Om nom nom.
  • Air. Again, very important.
  • Philz coffee. Caffeinee
  • More food.
What I plan on doing:
  • Making my game more fun.  Last time my game was apparently very innovative but a lot less fun. I shall have to correct for that… somehow.
My goal:
  • My goal is simple and humble: BEAT NOTCH. 😀

About the Linux Mint thing…. lots of people here have heard of it. Just sayin’

I am totally in this LD

I’m in and very much excited about it.

I’ll be using flash through as3 and flashdevelop, rolling with my own collection of game jam code snippets and tools.

I’ll try to remember to upload them somewhere before the event starts.

GL and HF everyone.

I’m in!

I intend to take this competition as a somewhat masochistic programming exercise. As such I intend to develop in Linux using gedit and makefiles writing my code in C and using SDL (unless I have a good reason to use C++). For the record, apart from the choice of C over C++, this is my usual development environment.

I intend to blog about my design choices in both the game and about how I decide to write it. My hope for the competition is that my blog and source code could hopefully serve as a resource for a beginner programmer (having stumbled through learning to program games, I feel a well documented example would have been very useful).

Of course, given the ludicrous time constraint I cannot guarantee meeting such a hopeful goal! At the least though I hope that something will get hacked together in order to be judged.

An additional goal is to have as little as possible handled outside of source code. E.g. procedurally generating resource images would be nice. However, this goal will soon be thrown out of the window if the competition requires an animated human, say. This is more just a nice thought.

Good luck to all taking part! I look forward to playing your games whether or not I qualify to judge them also :-).

I think i can swing this one

i’m going to be going for the most basic game i can possibly make in hope of finishing and i’ll probably try to enter the Jam instead of the normal comp. I’ll have a lot on my plate but i think i can swing a hangman game or something simple for my first actual compo

So i’m going to try to be in. :)

Oo Pick Me, Pick Me…

This’ll be my first game creation competition and I’ll be using Scirra’s Construct 2 for all my game creation needs.  Gonna try this solo, so DARE I say…I’m in?

I’m so totally een!

I tried the last Ludum Dare, but because of timezones I missed a day & ended up with nothing.

This time, things will be different.

I’m thinking of making a raycaster in Java just because I want to learn some game logic & how raycasters work.

I’m definitely in this time!

This will be my 3rd proper compo. I shall be joining the CB2 Indies in Cambridge. Hooray! Hoping for some kind fo silly theme… maybe Kittens will win this year!

Platform: AS3/Flex4

Framework: Flashpunk

Graphics: Inkscape

Audio: Sfxr

  • music: Gameboy with LSDJ!
Still haven’t gotten around to updating my last entry EscapeLines due to all of uni work and wont happen until after the next LD.
