LD26 April 26–29, 2013

I’m (hopefully) in!

I’m hoping to be in (given that I don’t have important revision to do…), as it’ll be my first! I’ve never actually finished a game I’ve started, so this is an extremely good opportunity for me to prove to myself I can.

Language/IDE: Game Maker 8 Pro

Libraries: None most likely

Graphics: Pyxel Edit (or Built-in GM8 sprite editor (or even GIMP))

Audio: FL Studio 10 and/or Audacity

Other: Livestreaming @480p with OBS, Timelapse somehow.

PS. I made a Tower Defense game as part of the warmup – Maybe that’s worth checking out? :)

Time for me to prepare for the weekend of pure late nights (ludum dare is coming)

I’m in for ludum dare 26, after a good years break i’m going to get back in for a weekend of pure late night programming.

Starring:

  • Java as The language
  • Eclipse as The IDE
  • Paint.net as The graphics thingo
  • SFXR as The sound making software
  • Music as Not likely to happen (long name I know)

I’m excited to finally get back to doing ludum dare it’s going to be a crazy weekend, Adam

I’m in!

Hey! Entering the jam with a friend. This is our first Ludum Dare, gonna be fun.

We’ll be using Unity and Blender.

Going to Ludum Dare 26

I’ve missed so many things at Ludum Dare… Last Ludum Dare I’ve submitted a game was at its 19th. And I was inactive or I was doing the game yet didn’t have the motivation to finish it. For now, I’ll be motivated to make a game for Ludum Dare 26 whatever theme it will be… Oh and here are the softwares I’ll be using:

Construct 2
Adobe Photoshop
MS Paint
SFXR
FL Studio 10

That’s all

Good luck in advance to all who are going to make a game.

I’m in.

This’ll be my third time Ludum Daring. I’ve become quite addicted to this compo. Looking forward to seeing all the amazing stuff people will make. I’ll be using the usual suspects of unity + photoshop + modo (if I need some 3d) + pixen + Logic. It’s gonna be a blast!

LD26 Themes, Round 1!

And here’s how I voted.

voting

I would have given Mutation +1 except that it is so close to Evolution, which is fairly recent. I gave Seasons plus instead of minus because the weather has been so crazy here in Japan, back home in Alaska, and where my grandma lives.

First time.

This is my first time Ludum Dare and I am going to do horrible things XD

By the way… Good luck for all of you (:

“I’m In” — New Beginnings

This is my first time participating in a Ludum Dare. I’ve always been on the fence of making my own game but despite having decent programming skills, I didn’t have enough confidence when it comes to art.

I still am giving it a shot. Because why not? All I’ll lose is a weekend. And I have everything to gain in terms of experience.

For LD#26

Language: C#

Framework : Unity 4

Graphics: Paint,Inkscape,Photoshop

Music: Audacity,BFXR

I might be doing something in the warmup weekend, so let’s see what I can learn about some of these tools during that.

Until next time.

  • Libraries: None.
  • Graphics: Built-in GM:S editor, Pickle
  • Audio: Bfxr
  • Other: none at the current moment.

We so excited, we gon have a ball 2day!

Warm Up Game COMPLETE :D

So i made an unnecessarily violent game about squashing bunnys for the warm up and i’m happy with the quality and the time it took(4-5 hours). It’s not much but it’s kinda fun i think. Play it here if you want

#gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ more bunnys

Just another “I’m in!”

This is my ‘official’ I’m in post. I missed LD25 unfortunately, so I’m really looking forward to this one!

My tools:

  • XNA/Monogame via Visual Studio 2012
  • Graphics from Photoshop (will be sticking to 2D probably)
  • Sounds from OGA, or maybe I’ll try one of those schmick grid-based music generators

I’ll probably be doing a timelapse recording as well.

I’ll be using a custom-written base framework, of which the source is available here: http://spacedjase.com/LD26/LD26Framework.7z . It just provides a basic ECS and application settings framework, as well as screen management (from the XNA game state management sample).

Here’s hoping for a good theme!

First timer signing in!

This is my “I’m in” post, and I’m fairly excited. This will be my first LD :)

I have no idea if I’m in any shape to complete anything interesting for the compo, but I’ll give it a try!

My tools:

IDE/Language: IntelliJ IDEA and Java

Libraries: libgdx and template project for IntelliJ (here)

Graphics: Aseprite

Sound: SFXR, Audacity, maybe others…

My libraries

You can access and download my librairies for the LD here !

One library doesn’t work (Loader) and one other is under creation (Entity), so, it’s for the next Ludum.
If you want use in you’re personal project, thoses libraries is not under license.

Have fun !

Ludum dare 26

Guess it’s about time for me to do a “I’m in” post too. Oh well, I’m in. This will actually be my first REAL ludum dare, since my first one was the MiniLD#40. This time i hope to create something awesome instead of my lame game on my last entry. I will go the same route as last time, do a co-operative work with the rest of my game development friends. Good luck all! I’m off!

Language: C++

IDE’s: MSVS 2010, Gedit, gcc

Platform: Windows, Linux

Libraries: SFML 2.0, STK

Entry: Lududm Dare Jam.

Third time in

I’m in for the third time. I completed LD24 and failed miserably at LD23. My girlfriend is busy studying for exams so that gives me next weekend free. This time I’ll probably go with Unity as I’ve been playing around with that a lot recently.

I’ll be posting regular updates through the contest on my tumblr: http://stoogoff.tumblr.com/

We are in (too !)

With this very original title, I write my first post for my first Ludum Dare !

And for this first time, I’ll be in team with Sentsu, for the Mystic Souslik Team :), me code and him graphs.

Language : Haxe with NME FrameWork

IDE : Flash Develop

Like the Compo, we’ll start from scratched, and we’ll respect the theme (otherwise it’s not funny :p). We don’t know yet how we’ll do for the music :p.

Bye !

P.S. : I made a lot of mistakes ? I’m sorry, I’m a French guy 😀

Warm-up game made, huzzah!

Made a simple little mole bashing game in Unity yesterday in 4hours, turned out quite well I think and had a lot of fun making it! Split the time into 2 hours making assets and 2 hours coding and below is the result.

Link me do to both webversion and android apk file –> http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-26-warmup/?action=preview&uid=6823

I’ll probably add some more features onto it shortly after LD26, then get it out onto Google play, etc, etc :)

Another newb enters

Hey, I’m a developer and a gamer but not a game dev. Still, I’d like to give this a shot and barring illness, nuclear war, the zombie apocalypse, etc I shall dedicate myself 100% to attempting something worthwhile next weekend!

I’ll use Haxe/NME/HaxeFlixel because that seems a simple, solid platform – total kudos to those guys.

Graphics will come out of my trusty old copy of Photoshop CS2 and go through TexturePacker, audio is going to be some combo of LabChirp, bfxr, Audacity, the Wolfram music generator and solmire.com (midi-to-mp3).

During the course of my frantic learning spree in the past week I’ve managed to hack together a base I can work off (so I don’t spend my precious 48 hours figuring out how to do simple crap, which would certainly happen otherwise but may indeed happen anyway) – in compliance with the rules, that is here.

Now I’ve posted, I have to do it…

Same themes every time…

Haha, I keep seeing the same themes every four months. Why do we keep seeing “Afterlife” and “Chaos” for example, those are quite mainstream themes. And you can put some chaos in your game with every possible theme ! Even if the theme is something like “peaceful”, you can have chaos as an opposition to peaceful moments.

Of course there are always some original ways to use these themes, but most people won’t push the reflexion too far, and we’ll see the same kind of ideas everywhere. Like in “Evolution”, how many people did a game about getting stronger and bigger ? That’s already a concept present in many, many games.

I’m not the kind of guy that will say “oh, this theme sucks” because even if they disappoint me, there is always something to do. But I wonder why there is a theme slaughter if the ideas are the same every four months. For instance, latest Global Game Jame theme was the sound of a heartbeat. This leads in so many different directions, like rythm, blood, life…

We’re in too!

Me and one of my friends are going to Jam, unfortunately we’ll miss the first 5-6 hours because of school(we’re from Hungary).

I’ll be programming(java w/ eclipse) and doing music and effects(w/ sfxr and lmms) and my friends gonna’ draw the textures ! 😀
