I’m Going For It

This is my first time entering Ludum Dare and I’m super anxious and excited to see what I can do. I’m from Richmond, VA, USA and I’m in the sixth month of development with a huge Adventure game I am making. Aside from that, I’ve only completed a couple of small games before this, so it’ll be interesting to see what comes of this.

Development Tools:

  • Language: Java
  • Distibution: intend to use an Applet, but may opt instead for using LWJGL and making an executable .jar and .exe since I have more experience with that
  • IDE: Eclipse
  • Graphics: PaintTool SAI and maybe Photoshop, if I need it
  • Sound: sfxr, Audacity, Ableton

I hope to attend the RVA Game Jam for Ludum Dare as well, though I might have work schedule conflicts that would prevent that, but I intend to compete either way.

I Guess I’m In Too!

Hey Guys! This is my first LD and I’m really excited. I’m not sure what kind of game I’ll make, but if all goes according to plan, it should be good. I think to make it less complicated, I’ll use game maker for making the game and possibly for image editing. I also might try and use Blender for character models. I think for sounds, I’m going to use Audacity. I don’t think that I will be able to record it.

Happy Ludum Dare! And may the force be with you.

Here’s my expression right now.

I’m in!

This is my second year of  Ludum Dare!  My goal is every compo use a different language.

Language: Javascript

Development Tools: Notepad++, Chrome

Graphics: Gimp

Sound: Probably Audacity.

doing it….

So this will be my first time entering as well. I’ve seen a lot of first time participants are joining in this time. I hope we can all make some fun games.

My plan of attack is to make a game that lives online. Ill be making it using HTML5 and deploying it on my own site.

Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

I’m glad you have decided to do Ludum Dare! This is my second one! I’ll make sure to check out you game.

Some tips:

Use music or audio

Work on graphics for a while after you are done with the game

Getting ready

Hopefully this time I can be participating without breaking things like legs and feet.

So, here we go again

I’M IN

7 games in 7 days day 5 finished

Really tough day today, but I managed to get the 5th game done. It’s a text-based adventure, with a tiny bit of graphics that have C64’s VIC-II graphics palette and resolution (+ some placeholders).

Full writeup on it is here, as well as a link to the game itself, if you’d like to give it a try. I would write some more, but it’s nearly 7am, and I need sleep badly.

Night, LDers! See you on the weekend.

I’m In.

Ugh, I’ve been procrastinating too much. Gotta start preparing.

Whatever, wish me luck.

Lua FTW.

I’m in

Very cool concept this ludum dare… this will be my first.  I’ll be doing something pinballzy that, of course, somehow fits the theme.  AS3 and Box2D

I’m in again

Maybe this time I’ll actually finish something….maybe.

haven’t quite decided what I’m using yet.

Either:

Love2d + Zoetrope

or

Unity 4

+

Pyxel edit / illustrator

Bfxr + (possibly January)

edit:

just got permission from Disasterpeace to use January for the music, you should check it out.

Count me in!

I’ll be doing the Ludum Dare next weekend, my first one yet.

Language: C#, using XNA

IDE: Visual C# 2010 Express

Graphics: Paint.NET

Sounds/Music: Audacity/Magix Music Maker

I’ll give it my best shot.

Hello! This would be the first time I’m participating in the Ludum Dare, and I am very excited.

Language: Actionscript 3
IDE: Flash Professional
Graphics: Flash, Photoshop
Audio: Audacity, Garageband

Best of luck to everyone!

Welcome to Ludum Dare 25!

Hello and welcome everyone to a very festive edition of Ludum Dare. It’s time to make games, eat food, and be merry… for it could be your last. 😉

Theme voting has begun. Every day this week we’ll begin a new round of voting. Wednesday we tally all the votes, and Thursday when we begin the Final Round. Lets do this!

[ ROUND 1 | ROUND 2 | ROUND 3 ]

[ ROUND 4 | FINAL ROUND | π ]

Special thanks to Sos for again running the Theme Slaughter.

Something you may notice is that theme list is much smaller than usual. One of the common criticisms about Ludum Dare is the themes; So we put the top 100 themes from the slaughter in front of a panel, and meticulously reduced it to a shorter 48 themes. We tried to give you a list of themes with a much greater list of possibilities, so everyone isn’t forced to make basically same game. It was a lot of work, so I want to send a big special thanks out to Sorceress, Phil Hassey, and everyone that helped out with the prune.

Keynote

Hey, we’re early with the keynote for a change! Richard Perrin put together this great homage to adventure games that just couldn’t keep to myself:

That’s it from me. Good luck everyone, and may the best theme win.

Fired Up

Definitely ready for my second LD, had tons of fun in the first one. Depending on the theme I’ll either be using:

JavaScript + CSS + HTML5

-or-

XNA / Visual C#

-with graphics by-

Paint.NET + Photoshop + Inkscape (as appropriate)

-and sound by-

Never done sound before, so maybe SFXR?

I’m in, let’s do this, and finish for once!

Yeah, so hopefully this time I will actually finish something, I already have an idea… so I will be using for:

Graphics: Paint.net

Audio: SFXR & Soundation

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse

I’m in

Will probably just do a browser game or such.

I’m in!

Hello everyone! This is my first Ludum Dare and I hope finish something playable. I’m bit worried about which language to use: haXe with HaxePunk? HTML5? I’m familiar with GameMaker Studio, but I think this time could be a chance to learn new skills. Any suggestion is welcome.

Best!

Go with what you know, even if it feels boring. You don’t want to be wrestling with your tools when you’re on limited time. There’s nothing more frustrating than getting stuck with some problem with the framework when you’re on a roll.

Yeah, it’s the right option. There’ll be other moments to learn new tools with more time than in two days :-)

I’m in!

This is my first Ludum Dare, so I am sure I will fail miserably have fun and learn a lot.

I plan on using Construct 2 for the game itself because I do not know how to program yet,  Microsoft Paint and GIMP for graphics, and bfxr and a yet-to-be-determined music-making program for audio.

If anyone out there wants to suggest any tips, feel free, as I could use them.

I’m In

First Ludum Dare, fingers crossed! Will be using Java in Eclipse, and Photoshop for graphics. Here goes!

I’m in!

This will be my second LD, first one was catastrophic, this time i come prepared – at least i think so 😀

I will use Flash – again – with the help of FlashPunk or Flixel engines, Pickle for visual content and some kind of sound generator for audio.

Best of luck and lots of fun for me and everybody else!

7 games in 7 days day 6 started

Day 6 - Dungeon Crawler

I got decent, 8 hours sleep, and started working on my 6th warmup game for Ludum Dare – Dungeon Crawler. WOO! Let’s make it awesome 😀

It looks like the goblin has a red thong on… Please tell me that isn’t the case?
