LD23 April 20–23, 2012

First LD!

I finally decided to jump in and try it out this weekend!

I’ll be developing with XNA, with a side of Photoshop for graphics (which are admittedly going to be terrible anyway).

Good luck to all!

I’m in too !

Ok so it’s be my very first LD, it will be great !

I work with Flash, Photoshop and Ableton…

I’m in 2.0

The wait is almost over! I’m just itching to get started on my second Ludum Dare.

I was pretty pleased with my previous entry, Solitaire of Solitude, which by the way is available in a bit more polished form for iPad in both paid and free version. If I remember correctly, it tied with Notch’s Minicraft in the fun category, and was rated fairly high in innovation.

I was hoping to try out some new tool this time, but alas, I’ve had no time to do any warmup, so I’ll probably just go with my strengths and use Unity.

My main goal for LD23 is to make a game where the basic structure easy and quick to implement, so I can spend more time on content and playability.

First LD

I’m in for my first LD.

Engine: Unity

Graphics: Ragepline or Ragepixel

My Tools

I already did my “I’m in” post, but hadn’t fully settled on the tools. I’m going to bite the bullet and commit to a heavily-server-side web app in order to force myself to make a different kind of game.  Nothing real-time or arcady. It’s going to be a bit weird incorporating sound, but it’ll be an interesting learning experience.

Ruby on Rails (including publicly available gems, such as Devise), HTML, JavaScript

jQuery, Bootstrap, and SoundManager 2

Photoshop and/or Paint.NET

BFXR, GarageBand, Audacity

Sublime Text 2, Git

Xsplit, TwitchTV, Premiere, Handbrake

One year ago…

… I entered my first LD. I came back for every main event and now I’m going to do my fourth LD. I certainly learned a lot in this year and I’m super excited to learn even more this weekend. So I’m IN! My goal for this time: Of course finish a game and have a more innovative game concept than the last times.

So here is my list of tools:

  • Technology: HTML5 + Javascript
  • Framework: three.js
  • Graphics: GIMP (maybe Graphicsgale or Tiled, depending on theme and game concept)
  • Sound: sfxr, inudge, Audacity
  • IDE: eclipse
  • version control: GIT

Let’s make games!

First Ludum Dare!

Hi,

This’ll be my first Ludum Dare!

I’m going to be using Ruby for my language and Gosu as my 2d library.

Might be using http://www.drpetter.se/project_sfxr.html for sound and GIMP for picture editing.

Yay for Gosu. 😀

My first ludum dare

I am so excited for my first ludum dare, i am going to do the ludum dare jam with a friend of mine z3+ (or z3Plus).

I will be using:

Images: paint.net

Coding: Flash cs5

Partner: z3+ or z3Plus

RapidXNA 2.0 Alpha

Built for me to use for this LD I have started work on RapidXNA 2.0 (which  I put the design of onto paper a while back) which has the current functionality of RapidXNA 1.0 (still in Beta, though only because I have yet to test the Xbox 360 build still). The new version is in Alpha due to the fact that it contains only rewritten old features, and none of the new features (like a scripting engine that I kinda hope to finish at some point), but should suitably port between Windows, Windows Phone 7, and Xbox 360 (relying on the fact that I hope the Xbox 360 .dll works).

Simply put my aim with RapidXNA was to make it so I could port between those 3 platforms with only minimal code changes, and in the process I decided I should share it with everyone.

You can get hold of the preview here: http://rapidxna.codeplex.com/releases/view/86321

Should I get enough time, I would like to extend RapidXNA 2.0 to work on every platform supported by MonoXNA as well (giving access to porting to Mac and Linux), but for now, the above 3 should hopefully suffice.

We’re in!

We make games and we will make a game this weekend.

Here’s the work distribution for our team:
Seminus – Makes games
Bach – Makes games

Bottom line: We make games.

Follow us on Twitter or on here for updates.. Looking forward to the madness and seeing everyone’s games! :)

Cheers,
Bach & Seminus

KEYNOTE MUSIC (and I’m in)

Hey y’all. I did the music for Chevy’s amazing Keynote video and I figured, why not release all the WAV files. So here they are. Feel free to use any of them for your Ludum Dare games. You can do whatever you want with them (chop them up, play them backwards, etc).

And I’m in! Tools:

Code: FlashPunk, Unity or XNA

Audio: Reason and BFXR

Graphics: Paint.NET

Levels: Ogmo Editor

Excited to finish something for once, I think the last game I finished was also for Ludum Dare :P Good luck to everyone!

I’m in

A year has passed since I took part in my first “real” Ludum Dare. Back then the theme was “It’s dangerous to go alone. Take This”. That weekend and the following weeks kept my spirits up in otherwise sad times. So thanks for that.

I’ve decided to join the game-building once again and very much look forward to working with whatever the theme will be.  Since my last participation I tried to repeat that magical experience of last year in Mini LDs – but unfortunately failed at each attempt. I hope that I ultimately learned something of all these failures.

I wish everyone all the best.
Have a great weekend.
Make something you want to make and play. Make it small, minimalistic, working, lovely, audible, moving.

Here’s a small gallery of all Mini that were never played and remind me of having to focus on making it (playable!):

MINILD30 Failure, Theme: Adaptation

Tools

  • Flashdevelop + Flixel or Stencyl
  • Photoshop
  • Graphics Gale
  • Logic Studio 8 or MilkyTracker
  • Bfxr
  • Dropbox

I’m in !!!

I can’t wait to know the final theme !!

I hope for ” Build it then use it ! ”

My tools :

– Coding : haXe

– GFX :  Adobe Flash CS5 and/or GraphicsGale

– SFX : Bfxr and LabChirp

– my lib

Good luck every one ! Let’s break the 1000 entries !

LD 23 – I’m in… I think

Well, this weekend is sort of busy for me – so I shall see if I can make an entry… Since I’m busy with the PGD challenge number 2, more bugs are fixed in my code than ever before so…. It does indeed look promising :) Especially with those killer themes!

Tools:

Graphics: Gimp, Paint.NET

Audio: Sfxr, LMMS, audacity, sibelius (maybe)

Code: FreePascal Compiler, Prometheus(again… It gets better entry on entry :) and I’ll upload the latest files to the SVN on sourceforge on friday afternoon), sdl_audio (maybe)

Misc: The ubuntu software centre and google… you never know – sometimes I miss something big when thinking about it -_-

In for the Jam

I’ve always done the solo competition, but this time I have an artist friend who I’d like to work with. As such, I’ll be making a jam entry instead. I really like most of the themes that have been voted to the top, so this could be really fun.

Time to set up a new Unity project, get source control working, etc. etc.

First Ludum Dare!

Hello!

This will be my first Ludum Dare. I’m cutting it somewhat fine by using not only my own libraries, but having not completed audio output yet! (I am working on that now.)

I may also stream my entry via justin.tv.

(Edit: in case anyone is counting, I will also be using a few lines of helper code: http://pastie.org/3819164.)

Tools:

Code: Visual Studio with Prototype & Netlib. (Libraries of my own invention.)

Graphics: MyPaint & GIMP.

Audio: Who’s to know? If anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate them. (I do have an M-Audio sound card and a small MIDI keyboard.)

In again.

After the more or less successful LD20, LD21 and LD22 I hope to have some fun at this special edition :)

I’m using Haxe + HaxeFlixel + Pyxeldit + FLStudio + SuperCollider + some kind of mapeditor(probably ogmo?) with Löve as a backup  if all else fails.

Checking in for LD.

It’s been a year since I last participated so maybe it’s good to try again. I’ll be keeping an eye on theme and may end up throwing my hat into the ring.

Code: Python & pygame or Kivy
IDE: Eclipse
Graphics: Photoshop programmer art
Sounds/Music: Sfxr
