LD 42

First ldjam

This will be my first time participating in a ldjam - solo participation. Idea of submitting a good game, let alone a game is daunting. I will be primarily using Unity as a game engine, Inkscape, Asprite for graphics. Will be one of the best learning experience.

Good luck everyone !!

Progress Report Day 1

Progress Report Day 1 - Basic mechanism of game is working. I think 70% of my coding is done, but I have been wrong before many times. Runner concept merged with tetris style blocks :). Running out of space to move.

To Do - Sounds, Menu, Game level design, Graphics Improvement

What is everyone using for video grab for windows ?

First compo completed

Hi All,

Just submitted by finished game. This is my first entry and I am excited about it (solo comp). As always had to cut down a lot from my to-do list, target was something achievable and playable in the given time. Glad was able to do that.

Best of luck folks for Jam !!

Block Smash

Finally a tweet in normal working hours :). Hectic weekend but worth it. Lots of lovely games can't wait to try them out. Best part is I get to view all the exotic code. Oh and this was my first time creating music, that is really difficult with lack of sleep.

Please try my game and suggest. The game starts slow but gets tricky once your score reaches 20. I didn't realise people are not going to wait that long. Oh well !! too late to change now.

Web version

After submitting my game, I am now trying to play games from other player. Almost all the game development tools supports web version yet very few people make use of it? Itch.io ( which is the most famous one out here) supports web version which lets you play the game in the browser itself without having to download/install anything. With so little time and so many games out there , web version sounds like a very good idea.... I was able to host the game on itch.io - web version if you need any help please feel free to shout out.

In again

this is the second time I will be participating in LD can't wait. Solo participant here, Unity will be the preferred choice for development. Event will start my saturday morning at 07:00 am, perfect timing :)

Ideas Ideas

My ideas so far, want to do something with a bit of fast game play, assumption being players get very lil time per game so want to utilize that as much as possible.ideas.jpeg

So far

Game mechanics is working, but as evident a lot is still remaining.

Dog Signal is live !!

Finally, submitted the game. Last 2 days were very exiting. Enjoyed finishing this game. Although there was so much I still wanted to do but oh well !! Dog Signal is a game in which a mutt is trying to prevent enemies from turning off their headquarter, keep the mission alive. Its derivative of an old video game ( which was more fun to play). Tried to incorporate various elements from unity. Game has three different modes to play Easy - Normal game play Medium - Enemies speed a bit faster God Mode - Spawn arrows more quickly.

Collaboration - Team up

hi ,

Is there a discord forum for teaming up or chatting with fella contestant. This would be a good time to assess your weakness and pair up with like minded game developers. I like every aspect of game development be it art, animation, coding, seeing your small efforts come to life, even sound generation though I really hate it, if you know what I mean :)

Here is my itch page and youtube vids showing my previous efforts, let me know if you want to collaborate on anything. My aim apart from creating a game would be to improve myself , better coding/pipeline/way of doing things.

Idea inception

Ok after much deliberation and ruling out platform style due to it being a lot of work in stage designing. Trying to do a procedural generated dungeon crawler, Never done a proper 3d game so will give it a go with that one. Unity will be the preferred choice. Lets see how it goes.

Participating

Missed last couple of jams as life happened. I like doing everything myself, so sort of jack of all trades master of none story. But I enjoy it, nurturing an idea and seeing it through.

Based on my votes, have some ideas, lets hope one of them is picked up. I know unity well, want to switch to godot ( license is key reason) but haven't yet mastered its coding and techniques, so will stick to unity. 2d assets is a more realistic and artistic approach rather than ugly solid color 3d.

Hope to see you all in 2 days. To creating better games 🍺 ,

Submitted my Game

Submitted my game, it was fun struggling through last couple of hours. Was not able to complete life and death, audio and so many other things I initially planned for. Nonethless game is playable and I had a blast working on it alone for hours.

Somehow embedding HTML ( godot) is not working here. Go to itch.io to play the game. Have Fun !!
