Not sure I have time for the jam, but I'm in!
I wish I hadn't missed the theme suggesting phase though!

Hey all, I'm going to be working as part of a team, but I created my game on this site before I knew about my team.
How do I mark the other author as working on the same game? Or do I wait to publish?
Thanks!
It's our first LD Jam, working as a team of two and it's going quite well. Hashed out the beginnings of procedural map generation and a handful of assets: https://imgur.com/3PMUHBF

Hey Guys,
In going over the themes over the last handful of LD Jams I've found that I'd like to review the ones I've selected as being good but am unable to click them. Would it be a lot of work to add a feature to the site where you can click your saved themes and review?
It would also be nice to be able to search themes for a good one if a friend had mentioned it and you don't recall seeing it. Voting on ~3000 is tedious and sometimes, despite your best efforts, you click no to something that would truly be good. Would be nice to go back and fix that.
Just my thoughts!
I've decided to include my classmates in this jam. None of them have experience with any game engines. They do have experience with Java programming.. So, I'll be using Unity since C# is similar to java and I'll be doing most of the Unity stuff itself.
We'll see how it goes!
I've managed to talk my classmates into participating this time around. Fortunately, they have experience in coding with Java which is quite similar to C#. Unfortunately, none of them have experience with Unity or any other game engine.
It'll be quite the task but I think we can pull it off if we keep things relatively simple. I plan to be more of a team lead than a developer this time around. We'll see how it goes.
Wish me luck!
I really didn't think I would be able to complete the compo. I was planning to participate in the jam. But! I progressed at a nice steady pace, and while there are a few issues with it - I'm pretty pleased with what I did in 48 hours.
I may patch the two small bugs that are currently present (plant growth and putting plants into planters). That'll wait until tomorrow though. Until then.. Cheers!

Hey all! I'm not sure yet if I'll have time to participate in LD Jam this April. I'm hoping so, but in the meantime I've started a podcast dedicated to game jams.
Would love some feedback on it!

Hey all,
I started a podcast about game jams! If you're interested in game design you should check it out, but if not, would you mind sharing one or two of your theme ideas? There's a theme submission box on my website:
A theme is picked at random for every episode and we talk through the game design using it.
Thanks in advance!
It's my 10th anniversary on Friday so no game jams for me.
But, I did release ep.5 of Jammers Podcast. This episode I'm joined by LD 47's 12 place game developer, Honest Dan Games.
We discuss our experiences with Ludum Dare, share our thoughts on goal setting during game jams, and as with every episode, we design a game!

Or https://anchor.fm/jammerspodcast for a link to your preferred platform.
Given a very limited schedule, I'm pretty happy with where day one has left off. Tomorrow, continuing with asset creation and level design. Hopefully get to the character rag doll before the day runs out!

It wouldn't be a game jam without running into issues as you deploy!
The LD website isn't supporting the web builds. The web builds aren't properly formatted and cause issues with camera rotation.
RIP... RIP.
Guess I'll do a desktop build along side the crappy web builds!
As much as I'd love to trust the community, there are some bad actors that ruin it for all.
I don't have a VM to run at the moment, so I'm only playing web games. It would be super helpful to be able to filter the games by those with a WebGL build.
Hey all!
Thanks to those who gave RIP a... rip. All of the feedback was on point. I've made the following changes to the LD version:

Post-jam UpdatesI won't be uploading any further updates to the LD page, however I've decided to turn this prototype into an actual game! Working towards presenting at a booth at Canada Games Con this June!

Although RIP didn't rate well during LD53, the feedback was consistent with what I was looking for. I've since secured a steam page, been updating the prototype, and presented the current version at Canada Game Con.
The event was a blast! Lots of players kept coming back to try and beat their previous times.
I think the prototype is in a place now where I can start replacing assets with ones closer resembling the final product. Changes coming soon(ish) include:
