Switching my webhost after the clock's out

The code hasn't changed, and you CAN play the game at http://kingofvampires.com if you're using Firefox, but I pushed up a copy to http://everyrealm.com/kingofvampires, which has a different host, and it seems to work for chrome there. Go figure.

Time-lapse video for King of Vampires

Man, Kevin Macleod's music can make anything exciting.

I very nearly quit. Glad I didn't.

My game may get disqualified for my use of a public domain map of Earth - I thought that was probably fair use and within the rules, but I'll let other people decide. By Sunday morning I thought there was no way I could really get anything playable done, but decided to push through - and I'm glad I did! I made a thing!

The best part is watching the time-lapse - seeing the first quarter of my time that I basically ended up throwing away, then seeing the rapid progress right at the end -- anyway, this was fun.

Thanks @pov!

I think I'm in.

But I m not sure.

Running out of Executive Powers

I've got a Google doc, and this sprite. Iiiiiii'm not sure I'm going to make it.

Sprite update

THIS is the sprite I've built so far. trump.gif

One last try...

Dang it, messed up again. Here's the sprite. Just running a bit more slowly is all.trump.gif

Theme voting confession

I'm not sure how most folks vote but for me it's like this:

Does this theme spark a fun idea for a game? => +1

Does this theme NOT spark an idea, but I can imagine it might yield something good for someone else? => 0

Does this theme bore me, even if it could be said to describe other successful games? => -1

How do you guys & girls vote?

Crowded Dungeon

Well, I decided about an hour before the theme was announced that I would try to do a visual novel. In the first four hours of the jam, I created a very simple JavaScript framework for taking JSON story files and populating the game. I’ve written about four rooms so far.

Art will be the challenge.Screenshotem20180810-202039/emChrome.jpg

My favorite part of Ludum Dare 42...

LD42 forced me to draw again, and was the most enjoyable time I've had with a pen and paper in a long time.

sequence_3.gif

The game, engine and all, was written in a text editor, and making a little engine in Javascript was fun, too. But drawing! That was the most satisfying. I just did backgrounds, and you don't even get to see them very well in the final product, but it gave me confidence to do more in the future.

Using Unity assets in Compo

Just trying to understand the rules better here. Unity has art and music assets that I'm sure don't fit the rules, but the code requirements are unclear to me.

Can I use, say, the Unity Third Person Controller in my Compo game, or do I need to write my own?

I'm out.

My only idea isn't really great, and would be impossible to do in the time allotted.

Have fun everybody!

You got this.

I like the theme, even though I voted against it. I'm excited to see what folks come up with.

Ludum Dare 46

I'm out. Good luck everybody!

My idea for the game is just too depressing: Screen Shot 04-18-20 at 08.39 AM.PNG

Ludum Dare 48

I may have something here.

Man. I'm so far behind. But I might be able to pull this off...

Using AFrame, Blender, and wishful thinking.

Man. I am NOT young anymore.

I finished my game - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/words-words-words/ - and DUDE. I'm WASTED.

I'm 46. I think I should've tapped out when my age matched the Ludum Dare number.

Ludum Dare 55

Concept. But no idea on the gameplay. :)
