I’m done! (kind of)

logo

I managed to finish my first ever ludum-dare-entry, compo-game “VOTE SNOWMAN”.
You can play it here: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=40721

close-up-screenshot!

Taking part in Ludum Dare was a really great experience. This time my weekend-schedule was pretty cramped and I got frustrated quite often but I think the result, while not being as cool as I wanted it to be, turned out pretty well.

Vote Snowman’s Post-Compo-Version is there!

And it’s quite nice! I’ve just released it a few days ago and wanted to point you to it!

The features include:

• an improved menu!

Look at that beauty! You can finally read something too!

Look at that beauty! You can finally read something too!

• improved win/lose screens!
• improved the positive-sound’s pitch!
• Added a timer-bar that shows you, when the game ends!

It's pretty self-explanatory, isn't it?

• Added an own font!
• Added a speed limit, you can toggle from the menu!
• Added an easy way to make your own enemies! (simple Guide on the game page)
• Added sugar-cane-enemies!
• Probably some things I forgot to mention.
• Added an unintentional debugging-console I forgot to remove 😛

I want to thank all of those awesome guys who rated my game! My first Ludum Dare turned out to be fantastically fun  and I’ll most likely participate in the next one.

Finished very chilled!

There it is. My second ever Ludum-Dare-entry wich, this time, isn’t comedic. NOT AT ALL!

A FEW FACTS:

• I used the *awesome* Löve-engine (aka. love2d)
• Sound effects were created using bfxr and Audacity
• I didn’t use my graphics tablet because I couldn’t find my micro-USB-cable
• I had a lot more time to work on this then last time and thus finished quite early
• I never looked up that many string-formatting-functions before
• The final game is 1477 lines of code big

SCREENSHOTS!

Why is there a huge explosion! Will the earth collapse? o.O

I’ve… finished already… wut?

I don’t know how but I just finished my entry!

I was using Construct 2 instead of Löve this time which makes game development a lot quicker and I believe I just underestimated the time I had.

Anyway, click on the image below to play “Nom“!

I’m off playing other games now! o/

“⬛R⬤PPING ONTO SH▲PES” released!

⬛R⬤PPING ONTO SH▲PES

I just finished my game “⬛R⬤PPING ONTO SH▲PES”! I could’ve added more levels but I really don’t have any more time.

In “⬛R⬤PPING ONTO SH▲PES” you try to get a ball to fall onto a green shape by shifting, moving, toggling, bouncing on, and avoiding other shapes!

But let’s quit talking (reading/writing actually) and play the game (or look at some screenshots first if you’re not convinced)!

Screnshot - Title Screen

The start screen! The shapes in the title are actually shift-able too!

*sigh* - guess I'm vote-begging too...

I really didn't want to do this, but since there's little time left and I'm still at least seven votes off from getting any score at all, I guess I'll do one of those vote-begging posts. I haven't even posted anything at all this time around, so I don't feel quite as bad.

This was my 6h Ludum Dare and, imo, the game turned out pretty good, although family problems cost me most of day 2...

For the sake of adding some value to this post at least, here's stuff I planned to do, but didn't get around to:

  • More content (the game can currently be beaten in like <2 minutes)
  • Some music (at least a simple background melody)
  • Better art (the current player sprite was really just supposed to be a placeholder and a lot of the objects look pretty bland. I didn't even get around to adding a walking animation!)
  • A proper ending
  • getting rid of a few glitches/flaws in the level layout

That's it, I guess. Here's a screenshot: 937.png

You know what? I guess I could have one of those word clouds made too! wordcloud.png (I removed the word "game" btw)

And finally, here's the link to my game! Please play it and vote! I promise it won't take long!

Do you need 20 ratings in each category to get a score or is it 20 avg. overall?

I thought it was the former, but in my last game I only had 18 ratings in the "Humor" category and still got a score. Kinda worried now, because I don't want to miss out on a score and I still only have 19 ratings in humor this time around...

Edit: To clarify - I meant to ask whether you need 20 ratings to get a score in the corresponding category (i.e. are 19 humor ratings enough if the average is >20?)
