...with my friends this time.
Even though LD45 coincides with a bokbierfestival in my town that I haven't missed since I started attending it a decade or so ago, we'll once again be participating! This jam will be my tenth Ludum Dare, so I simply have to take part; who doesn't like a good round number? That said, I may just head out for a few hours and return slightly inebriated on Sunday afternoon. Multitasking! :beers:
I didn't spend much time on these, but I think they leave enough freedom for wild interpretations while still providing direction. That last one is a analogy for the difference between Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen I once heard.

We're never 100% certain of our team composition beforehand, but it's generally some kind of combination of these names. - :computer: @daanvanyperen | coding | twitter, github, website - :art: @flaterectomy | graphics | twitter, soundcloud, YouTube, website, portfolio - :musical_score: @meatmachine | music & audio | twitter, soundcloud - :warning: @troop | playtesting | twitch | festive cheer - :warning: MisterOizo | playtesting | LinkedIn

Hey There!
In five days the first edition of the Two Weeks Challenge will take place! :one:
What is it? There are ten words chosen randomly in a dictionary in our Discord Server and when the Jam begins, the four most voted words will become the four themes from which you will have to choose one, which will be the theme of your Game Jam!
When is it? During the two weeks that are coming up! More information on the Game Jam page: https://itch.io/jam/two-weeks Or our Discord Server: https://discord.gg/8VNMzzN
See you in a few days!

I'm trying to make a mobile game in 1 month before Ludum Dare!
See my progress during the first week of development. :D

"We’ll hopefully be uploading a playable game in the coming weeks."
-- Me, 4 and a half months ago, in a comment on our LD44 jam entry.
So we've finally done it! We've finally finished a game!
Although we could have done more with it, I'm just very glad that we managed to actually release a complete, post-jam game for once!
So if anybody's interested, here's our updated LD44 page.
Here's the link to the itch.io page, where you can find the executable downloads.
I'm already getting very excited (and very nervous/anxious) about the upcoming jam...
Good luck everyone, may you use your final preparation time well! :)

Oh and also... we're in!
Hey guys, I should be able to participate to this Ludum Dare.
Here are my suggestions :)

Hey guys for many of you, you are already present in the server so thank you for 3,000 members. Zack and I couldn't have imagined what this would become almost 3 years later.
From ideas to sharing your final game there a channels to talk about all aspects of the event. Discord is the best platform for sharing things fast and keeping up to date on Ludum Dare.
Use !timeleft to see relevant times.
We love the community that has formed and counties to grow. Feel free to check out the server and introduce yourself. Can't wait to see you there!
Hey everyone,
This is my first time ever participating in a game jam like this and I'm really excited . Hopefully all goes well and I'll be able to craft out a fun and (somehow) functioning game others will enjoy playing. I was thinking of using a combination of HTML5 and JavaScript/TypeScript for the game since the HTML5 Canvas is something I'm pretty well-versed in. Also, publishing and playing the game would be super easy :rocket:. I'm still choosing between using vanilla (pure) HTML5 or getting some help with a library like Phaser. I guess I'll eventually choose when the theme will be announced and I'll start writing ideas for the game.
I'm also gonna try and add a spooky theme into the game. I love halloween and I think it fits the fact that it's being hosted in October :jackolantern:. Feel free to join me if you like carved-out pumpkins and spooky houses.
No it’s not what you think.
This is my first Ludum Dare and I’m really excited, I’m gonna follow in the footsteps of brackeys and Dani, and actually participate. I won’t win, but I least I will learn more about unity and the game making process.
Good luck to you all :))
Hello there!
I just wonder if there is anyone who is making a classic adventure game for Ludum Dare.
Do you think it is a good idea to make this kind of game in a jam that is mostly good for fast paced action/arcady games?
That is basically my only genre I do, so I wonder how others feel about it.
Let me know.
So, im in again, for the 5th time, going compo as the 3 first Ludum Dare i was in cause my ~~friend~~ team will not be avaiable on the jam weekend.
If i got enough time will be doing music for my other friends projects as well.
TOOLKIT
Just a quick reminder that my super tiny open source sound effect engine ZzFX is available for use in your Ludum Dare games!
There are now 15 games using ZzFX audio! Here are a few of the best...
I also used it for my Ludum Dare 44 game, Spendotron: 2019
Here is the entire code for the micro version of ZzFX. Just paste this code into your JavaScript file and you can play ZzFX sound effects!

zzfx_v=.5;zzfx_x=new AudioContext;zzfx=(e,f,a,b=1,d=.1,g=0,h=0,k=0,l=0)=>{let S=44100,P=Math.PI;a*=2*P/S;a*=1+f*(2*Math.random()-1);g*=1E3*P/(S**2);b=0<b?S*(10<b?10:b)|0:1;d*=b|0;k*=2*P/S;l*=P;f=[];for(var m=0,n=0,c=0;c<b;++c)f[c]=e*zzfx_v*Math.cos(m*a*Math.cos(n*k+l))*(c<d?c/d:1-(c-d)/(b-d)),m+=1+h*(2*Math.random()-1),n+=1+h*(2*Math.random()-1),a+=g;e=zzfx_x.createBuffer(1,b,S);a=zzfx_x.createBufferSource();e.getChannelData(0).set(f);a.buffer=e;a.connect(zzfx_x.destination);a.start();return a}

Ludum Dare is in the middle of InkTober. I'm going to take a stab at making a video game where all of the art comes from ink drawings that I do an showcase throughout October for the #InkTober event. I've made some choices and am putting together some frameworks right now. The current plan, make some art for the first days of InkTober. Do the jam, and find a place for the art in the game. After the jam, keep doing more art and adding it to the game until the end of InkTober.
We are in again for #LDJAM 45 JAM!
We will be using:

Background:
The first time we made a game as a team, we set our sights WAY too high and didn't even get close for a lot of reasons.
The second time as a team, we set our sights WAY too LOW and made a cool little fun game, but we were done in a couple hours.
Now that we know what we'll be using to make the game, and have our workflow solid, I think we'll set our sights a bit higher, possibly go with a more standard game genre as well. We talked about a platformer / top down character based game this time around maybe.
Regardless, it'll be fun.
After not making game for 4 years since my last LD, I am back into it.
My tools for this time round are
Hopefully it is not a mistake to be using a language + framework that I just picked up. :D let's see how that goes.
My theme suggestion for this LD

And just in time for Theme Suggestions!
This will be my 20th Ludum Dare. I started with Ludum Dare 26 back in April 2013. I'll probably use my usual Unity/Blender/Gimp tools.
My previous Ludum Dare games are at https://levidsmith.com/game-list/?jam=ludumdare

Can anyone see anything I post? hello?
