Ludum Dare 45 October 4–7, 2019

My theme suggestions

Hey there. It'll be my second LD jam, and now I want to participate in it much better than before. And here is my theme suggestions for this LD.

  1. Everything has upsides and downsides;
  2. Risky power-ups;
  3. Running out of time; (wow, such original)

Tentative In

I haven't been around for a while, looks like the place has been kept nice and clean! :ok_hand:

I'm fully planning on participating, time allowing, maybe even with a team this time (though I probably won't have time to make something even as big as some of my previous entries).

Looking forward to it, as usual

My 1st ever Ludum Dare

Hi guys, this is my first time here. I am a composer looking to collaborate. Can someone guide on how do I get started? How does this work? Any help is much appreciated.

3rd one... already... no that can't be....

Loving that it's THAT time of year again and Yeah hoping that this time I will have time to do something actually a bit polished.. or maybe challenge myself ... again.. and do something 3d this time - oh well we'll see how it goes

My current suggestions: It's at the bottom.

Work Life Balance.

Two Perspectives.

Suggestion For Admins - Previous Themes List

Hello there @pov and everyone,

I was thinking, it would be great if we had something like "List of previous LD themes" somewhere on the site, so people can see which themes were used in the past.

I mean, I don't mind doing anything, but I think it's more fun to see themes that have never been here before. I can't count how many times I've seen Floating islands (this is already a meme at this point), Small World, and so on.

I don't blame those who suggest these things, as I think they do so, because they simply don't know that these themes were used e.g. two years ago. If this was my first LD I would probably be also like "Oh yeah, 'Small World' sounds really cool!"

Making 16-bit-ish shound effects

Hello there, ladies, gentlemen, and unicorns! I just posted a video about recreating sound effects from shoot-em-ups and I thought it might be interesting to any of you who either grew tired of BFXR or are simply curious about a new method of making sounds... https://youtu.be/DIMM5yv4or4

The first Ludum Dare :)

Hey everybody, this is my first game jam and i work with unity3d if someone want to collaborate with me i'll be happy. Good luck, everyone.

In for the 5th time!

Honestly can't believe I'm saying this but I'm in for the 5th time in a row.. HUH! Never thought this would come to be, but the timings of Ludum Dare just work perfectly and they are one of my most expected events of the year.

This time I will also be doing Jam with no other than @JustMars, as always. There will probably be more people joining our team this time also, but right now I only know him for certain. He will do the majority of the coding because he's a fricken beast at it, and I will be doing sounds, possibly music, and my favorite which is making graphics :D

Only sad thing about this Ludum Dare is that I will have to leave to a vacation on 7th of October, which means I'm going to miss a full day. Of course going to vacation isn't sad though :) At least I know I have a good time limit and hopefully it will make me work harder and faster. Super excited for this Ludum Dare! Also my birthday is on October 3rd, and being able to join LD with friends is the best gift I could ask for.

And here goes the classic,

What Tools Will I use:

-Photoshop CC 2019 🖌️

-Unity 🎮

-BFXR 🎧

-Audacity 🎤

-Visual studio 2017 ⌨️

-FL Studio 20 🎼

Very excited for Ludum Dare 45, good luck to everyone joining! May you all be able to finish your games. 😁

New stuff's

Here my new pixel art (the first one), made on Aseprite trial version, i tried to make a degraded, but i think looks weird, LOL.

I still learning.

Feel free to leave a comment or advice and software recommendations to make pixel art.

Have a good day.

So maybe I'll create a game

More LD! I wasn't able to participate last time, but my semester is a little lighter now, so we'll see how it goes.

I was thinking it would be cool to make a game designed especially for the Launchpad. It's basically an 8x8 grid of buttons and lights that can be controlled by MIDI. You might have seen song covers and lightshows using it (or its close cousin, the Midi Fighter) on Youtube. I am well aware that very few people have such a device, so if I do use it for Ludum Dare, there will also be either a keyboard/mouse or touchscreen port of my game.

I'm in + suggestions

I've participated in two LD's before but only finished one of them. I'm hoping this one will be even better.

  • Framework/language: Love2D/Lua
  • Graphics: GIMP probably (I suck at art)
  • Sound: idk, probably beepbox because I absolutely suck at making sounds

My suggestions are:

  • You can't control the protagonist
  • You are the final boss
  • One shot

I'm in again everyone!

Hello everyone!,

I'm in this one more time! :D.. Not sure yet if I'm going alone or in a team.. I hope I do better this LD!

My Suggestions

  • The key's right in front of you
  • Living furniture
  • Combine previous Ludum Dare themes

Cheers!

Tips on development and time management

I recently had some time to write a devlog about one of my previous LD entries, rainforest, Inc.

I thought it might be helpful to somebody to see how to manage time and how to structure the development process to fit into the jam.

In the post I talk about: - time management - project structure - brainstorming process - prototype - development structure - tips on modeling, texturing - level creation

You can find the full post here. I hope it will be useful to someone.

Cheers! 😄

And ready to slaughter some themes. :8ball:

Ludum Dare 45 - First Time

I’ve been aching to participate in a game jam since I heard about Ludum Dare exactly one year ago.

The problem is that I had just started medical school and I felt there was no way I’d have time to participate. I wished I knew about Ludum Dare in university when I was a computer science major :D

But now I found a team mate and feel more than excited to participate to put my intense cramming skills to use!

My theme suggestions:
