LD 44 April 26–29, 2019

High Hopes for Theme Suggestions

Now that we have only two LDs per year the stress on the theme being good is even higher!

Let's be unique! Let's be different! Let's be interesting!

Hey, hey, hey! Ludum Dare 44 is just around the corner!

Woo, it's been a while now hasn't it? But I'm pretty pumped up for my 4th installment of 48 hours of Game Dev ~~hell~~ fun!

I have been getting some good work done on Sirius Galactica (my last entry). I've been working quite hard on pushing out a major post-jam update, 2.0 which will be out... soon, there's still a lot of work to be done content and polish wise, but if I had to make a wild and insane prediction now, how about... around 1 1/2 months? Let's get a fun and exciting GIF to showcase my progress!

Current (V 2.0 in dev)

A bit more hectic, intense and looks a lot sweeter don't you agree? :3

Also, if you're curious, these are my theme suggestions: Screenshot_1.png

Back for my 2nd jam!

I'm back, and I'm gonna be doing things a little differently. For starters, I'm switching from Scratch to GMS 2. Also, since this is my 2nd jam, I'll try n actually finish my game. Here are my themes: theme entries.png

Geta Game Jam will be starting in just 20 days!

The Time Comes Upon Us...

... to have an excuse to create, yet, another terrible game!

My last couple entries were done in the Godot Engine, but I've learned quite a lot about the engine since then, so let's see what happens! :)

I'm very curious to see how many games will be made in Godot this time around!

Let's begin!

What time is it? It's the time for an early bird "I'm in" post!

It will be my 5th LD in a row, so I'm excited and engaged to finish the game and make it the most polished game of mine. I know, I always say it, but this very time I've got a plan.

Several things make the upcoming LD special for me:

  • Siberian Game Jam team is hosting the local event again! It's always so much fun to jam together with the best developers of the city. So if you're planning to jam somewhere around Novosibirsk, head to CityCenter, we're waiting for you.

  • My girlfriend @syudzius decided to join me this time! No more "programmer's art" 'cause the real artist appeared out of the blue and said "heard you're a jammer, I wanna join" (okay, it was slightly different). She's also so thrilled with her first game jam, can't wait to start!

  • My old buddy @komnotmr is still busy with his army stuff and won't be around to generate bright ideas and implement features. =(

Talking about tools, here's what I've got:

  • It's sad to admit, but despite spending nights trying all the weird stuff I could find, including Forth, Haxe, several Lisps, Elixir and even a good old C (no additional characters included), I still prefer to make games in JavaScript. Maybe someday the curse will be broken, but for now I want to concentrate on polishing the game, not building my own tool.

  • Vim still is the best text editor I tried.

  • I have no idea what software will my real artist use to produce Real Art™.

  • I have no idea what software do musicians use to produce sounds, but I've got an Akai Professional LPK25 and I'm definitely using it for the jam. I'm aware that the word "Professional" in the name doesn't make me a composer, but hey, it still has a better interface then any software synth I used.

Let's make some games! :video_game: And may the theme not suck this time (seriously, we can do better than applying "Running out of..." to every single noun on Earth).

This is a Question: How to Change Email Address?

I really need to know the way to change the email address of my LD account. If anybody can tell me, thank you veeery much.

The current address is about to be disabled. I don’t want to lose my history here.

It's Already LD44?!

Wow, it's already LD44. Time sure flies. I wasn't able to join last LD due to reasons but I'll make sure to make one for this jam! I've recently started learning Godot so here's hoping that I can build something with that.

I was bored, so...

(I just realized, I really don't have a consistent art style. I should probably work on that.)

I'm in!

This is my 4th time (I believe) trying to join LD, never was able to finish, mostly because I lose so much time setuping my stuff, but this time I'm quite early and I'm already experimenting on that front to be ready for the event.

My weapon of choice will be JS, mostly because I hate having to download an executable to try a game, but also because I love to have theses kinds of constraints.

I haven't chosen any librairies yet, I hope that I will be able to find one I enjoy before the event (any suggestion?). I would love some vector graphics, that was something I quite enjoyed in Flash, but from my previous search, that doesn't seems to be something really accessible currently in JS.

I hope to be able to include multiplayers functionnalities in the game in some form (either local or online), but that's just another constraint I'm adding to myself.

Quick Unity Tips

Recently, I begin to write a blog about simple Unity Tips&Tricks. I believe these tricks can speed up your development process so check it out:

I will write a couple more blog posts before the LDJam begins.

I'm in (hopefully)

LD43 was my first LD and will hopefully not be my last. I've participated in a few jams on itch.io since then and will continue to do so.

Will most likely do compo, using my usual tools; Unity, Bosca Ceoil, Bfxr and Piskel.

Hyped for LD44! In the mean time, I've updated my game from Brackeys Game Jam #2 a bit. Still in the prototype phase but progress none the less. Go check it out!

I'm (probably) in!

Hey guys!

So since everyone is once again sharing the fact they are in for the next event, I'm happy to announce that I am most certainly, probably in! Though university may have a few things to say about that, but if all goes well, nothing can stop me from spending 72 hours straight to code my next LD game!

I really am hoping for a unique theme, here are my suggestions:

ld-44-suggestions.png

Anyway, I am also struggling to decide what platform to use this time. I don't want to make the change from libGDX, but it really hasn't seen many releases lately, and I am missing some innovation from the release branch ... maybe I'll either try HTML5, I even considered giving Godot a shot (although its scripting language does leave some to be desired for me ...). I would be happy to hear your opinions about the topic, another perspective would come really handy now.

I am hoping many people can make it this time too, and would like to wish you all a fun weekend in advance :)
