LD 39 July 28–31, 2017

I'm in!

Hey all! <3. I'm in! I've got nothing to do the weekend, so I'll make a game ^.^ I hope to have my (new) website up when we start!

Goals

  • Finish this time. I've participated multiple times, never actually finished though. Due to being sick, not liking the idea way too late. Just not having gameplay working and so on.
  • Improve programming, I'm not a great programmer yet, so doing this should help me out.
  • Keep things simple, I shouldn't over complicate stuff to too much.
  • Try to team up! see the little 'team?' part :)

Team?

I'm looking to team up with someone or multiple someones from Europe/Africa (it can be somebody from anywhere else in the world, if they want to be up at the same time as me, which is basically European timezones).

I don't mind if you're a beginner or a advanced person.

I also don't mind what you do, I'm happy if you can program, do artsy stuffs, make sounds, music, write. or whatever!

I'm looking to team up, mostly to learn more, have more fun, hopefully make some friends and keep myself motivated!

Just comment if you feel like teaming up or got any questions!

programs/code

I'm not sure what I'll be using yet, or if I will do it (due to hopefully teaming up), so I'll just list my ideas of what I might use :).

note that I'll probably program if I team up, and I'm definitely up to do other things too.

  • Programming:
    • JS/web (maybe php?). I'll probably won't use any libaries, I find it way more fun to program it all in!
    • Gamemaker Studio (1). I've got the license. but my windows pc at the moment is dead (using linux at the moment), thus this will be harder, but, I might be able to fix it before the kick-off.
    • Python. I've been willing to try out pygame for a while, but never used it, so I'm probably not going to do so.
  • Artsy stuff:
    • Gimp
    • Purely Generated stuff. I've been thinking about just coding in the stuff. But due to time limitations, I'll probably not do it.
    • Find something online. If I'm doing the jam (I've only done compo before), and if I'm doing it with a team without somebody that can do art. I'm willing to find stuff online but only if everybody 100% agrees with it (due to opting out of vote).
  • Sound:
    • bfxr.
    • audacity.
    • online. same as art, only if everybody wants it and so on.
  • Music:
    • Not sure about this one. I might look to find a tool online to help me out or something.
    • Guitar, I've got a guitar, I'm not good at it, thus it'll probably just be a comedy type of thing to be added in.
  • Teamstuff
    • I'll Probably set up a discord server or so.

Finally:

Thanks for reading all this :). I wish everybody the best of luck!

-Derpy aka Johan, ♥<3♥

Will I finish this time?

Last time I wasn't able to finish my game. I am hoping to be able to do it now. Maybe I will be less ambitious. :)

I'll be back

baby... This will be my third time participating in Ludum Dare. A short summary over my last two entries: * First entry didn't suck. I learned alot but in the end was unhappy with the used engine (LibGDX) due to lacking visual tools. It's really a shame because LibGDX is totally awesome. I'd still recommend it for games using tiles or procedurally generated games. First entry - click me * Second entry didn't suck on the first glance. But as soon as you realised that the best tactic is to wait... This could've easily been avoided by proper prototyping - which I will do this time! I was alot happier with the used engine this time though which was Godot. I think you can easily see that on the increase in visual quality  Second entry - click me

So third participation - second time with Godot. This time I'll prototype properly, stream the whole thing so I can find out where I loose time when the jam is over and use Git continously. Good luck to everyone, especially the first timers. Greetz Anudin

Edit: I wanted to add that in addition to changing engines I also switched the strategie for my second participation. I tried to find a simple but fun game mechanic. I actually failed on the fun part but my idea was simple which is a good thing for a jam. But something very strange happened: I lost so much time! I still don't know where all the weekend went but I produced very little content for such a long time frame. Much less than on my first entry actually. This is the reason I want to live stream this time - so I can review on where my time is lost.

I'm in!

This is my second Ludum Dare and I believe that this one will be better than last time I'm super excited and can't wait for next weekend good luck to all and have fun. BYE!

I'm in!

9th time, 9th compo in a row. Time really flies! Really looking forward to this one, I feel like I'm well prepared. Will most likely be using love2d again.

Good luck all, see ya there!

I'm in!

Time for another LudumDare... already!? I'm not complaining, though!

I'll be using the same stuff as last time; here's a refresher.

🍝 Construct2: HTML5 game creation software!

🍝 Aseprite: Pixel art program!

🍝 GIMP: Open source photo editor!

🍝 LSDJ and bgb: Authentic Gameboy synthesizer and emulator!

🍝 Auacity: Open source sound editor!

🍝 itch.io: The coolest game storefront ever!

I'm In

This is my third attempt at Ludum Dare. My first attempt I was able to complete the simplest game I have ever seen. The second attempt, I just was unhappy with the idea. This time, I hope to be able to not only enjoy my idea, but be able to complete it as well

Asix Jin has entered the Arena!

As always I am very excited about my 7th Ludum Dare! This time around I want to focus on my social media aspect of all this. I want to share as much as my development process as possible without taking too much time from the actual game. I hope I can also play enough games to get a rating. Last Ludum Dare I was unable to due to a busy work life, but I am gonna try to be better at it! Honestly, the LD38 was pretty rough all around so I am refreshed and ready to go for LD39!

Tools

  • Unity2D/Rider
  • Paint.NET
  • Pyxel Edit
  • FL Studio/Akai APC25*
  • Audacity

*I may get someone to team up with me on the music, but I haven't really decided yet.

I HAVE ENTERED THE JAM!

Im very excited as this is my second ludum dare jam. The last one went pretty well for me. Hope everybody is excited as much as I.

Tools

  • Unity Game Engine 2017
  • Paint.NET
  • Bosca Ceoil

I'm disapointed with my performance last LD, time to make it up!

Last LD was a disaster for me. I hit a creative block, and couldnt continue, the problem with me was my lack of discipline to finish the project. You'd think the limited time was motivate me plenty but due to the lack of sleep and the parade I did (I play tenor drums in a marching band, heavy shtuff.) the night before, I couldn't think straight. My friends told me not to stress out about it, and that I can just pick it back up in august, which is exactly what I'm going to do. Hopefully/Definitely this Ludum will go smooter for me, and I cant wait to get started

I will be using - GameMaker: Studio 1.4 (Game Engine) - FL Studio 12 (Music) - Aseprite v1.1.13 (Spriting) - BFXR (Sound/FX)

Best of luck to everyone!

Here we go again

Let's give this another go, shall we? Work schedule is even more lousy than last time, so hoping to keep it simple.

Im in for my first Ludum Dare!

This will be my first Ludum Dare entry and I couldn't be more excited. I plan on using this event to force myself to complete and release a game, something which I should have done years ago. I've also got a team working with me for this jam, which will hopefully result in something looking like a game by the end of the event.

What I'm Using

  • Engine: Unity5
  • Programming Language: C#
  • 3D Modeling: MagickaVoxel
  • Texturing: Gimp
  • Music: Otomata and Audacity with MiniHost Modular for some sound effects

I'm in

Hey i'm new to ld it seems like a great thing so i guess i'll be joining ld 39

First time!

Engine - Unity3D; Sprites(maybe even with animations, yay) - all the free sites of The Internet;

It will be the one-developer (not even the one developer-who-is-also-an-artist) army, actually. I'll just try to keep my ideas in the range of available graphics. Good Luck to all.

Stugan joins Ludum Dare 39!

Stugan is a program for game developers from all around the world running right now in a middle of a Swedish forest! There are 25 of us stuck in a cute little cabin in the middle of nowhere working on our games, and Ludum Dare just happens to be in the middle of that so we decided to buckle up and join in!

ld39.png From left to right: Ana, Mario, Rasmus, Victor, Andi, Lucas, Ivan, Renee, Goao, Rasmus, Sos, Amar, Ben, Lucy, Henry, Kate, Fred and Cukia

We'll get our computers and souls ready and grab some snacks in advance and we'll see you on the show! We will also be streaming most of it, so stay tuned! Cheers!

Am in, obviously!

Count me in! Will be doing another VR game, last 3 went decently.

Unity/Maya LT.

VR stuff will be using the SteamVR plugin so it'll work for all VR things with motion controllers.

I also have Knuckles controllers for my Vive so I'm gonna see if I can do anything compelling with those too.

Count me in!

Hey, just another I am in post.

I will participate to this Ludum dare 39 (it will be my third attempt).

Here is the tool I will use (maybe only some of them) : - Unity 3D - Photoshop - LMMS, Bosca Ceoil, BFXR, Audacity - Itch.io for uploading

Good luck you all!

I'm in!

I have a decent amount of experience with Unreal Enginem, can use Unity/LibGDX. here is something I have made before in Unreal in a few hours https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pX87GLc2uY&feature=youtu.be

Looking to join a team! If I can't join one I will just make something simple on my own

Setting up my base code

I have heard that starting with already existing code is fine, so i decided to make a small "engine" in java!engine_start.png
