Try our Quiz Shooter!

Are you a cultured person? Are you agile?

Go ahead and prove it while playing our game 😃

It's my second time in Ludum Dare and I really hope to get some feedback from you guys.
Hopefully with your criticism we'll be able to improve a bit more each time 🙂

This game was made with lots of love, so I hope you enjoy playing it like we enjoyed making it!

A gaming competition... on jam entries!

bann.jpg

Hi guys! At the neighbor Alakajam! community, we have hosted something special this month: 8 games from Alakajam! and Ludum Dare have been handpicked for people to compete on them, post high scores, and climb the leaderboard!

We're having a lot of fun so far, and it's quite a different experience to really play and try to master the games, rather than just test them to give feedback. The competition is fierce but there's still a chance for good players to get a spot in the podium.

Of course this is all just for fun, with no prizes or anything :)

The competition ends on May 31st, before we switch to the next big jam, planned for the 22-24 June week-end. The last Alakajam was pretty exciting as well, with 71 entries on the theme "You can't see everything". We hope to see you around for the end of the Tournament, and hopefully the next jam!

3rd Alakajam: Theme submissions start today!

logo.png

Tonight at 7pm UTC launches the countdown to the 3rd Alakajam!, starting with theme submissions! It will all lead to a happy week-end of jamming on June 22-24th :punch:

  • The two weeks prior to the jam are dedicated to an original theme voting system (Week 1 = submission/voting, Week 2 = shortlist ranking)
  • After a live launch stream hosted by DanaePlays, the jam is held for 48 hours, both for solo & team entrants. Start/end times are suited to European timezones! (7pm UTC)
  • Two weeks of community voting then take place until the winners are announced

Our last event ended with 71 games on the theme You can't see everything (see winners below). We hope to see you there! :grinning:

I'm in (for the fourth time)

This time I am teaming up with my friend @raffe! He knows how to make music (unlike me) so expect some killer tunes in our game 😆. He is also doing most of the art. My job is programming and generally putting the game together. Good luck to all the participants, and have fun!

Making a story-based game

GIF 2.gif

I'm making highly story-based game for the 72 hour jam, and so far I have a character that can walk and talk. I also have some concept art, and I've planned out most of the story. A little behind schedule, but I think I can catch up for the most part tomorrow. And that dialog in the gif is just for testing, lol.

I can put your game into mine

Yes i can, just send me a title and if you want, you can make custom icon for your game(prefered size: 100x100 and it has to be a square). Discord: ChaosTheLeg#3576Безымянный.png

Count me in

I'm back for my second LD, this time I'll use Godot for a change :)

My own subjective theme opinions for LD43

First of all, I'd like to point out that themes are supposed to be themes, not concepts. People tend to not see the difference, but it's actually quite big! Concepts are usually really restrictive, and I feel like we'll see a lot of copycats. I don't want to play a jam where everyone makes the same game, so by default, I don't upvote concepts, I only downvote or ignore them.

Automation: I like this theme, but I feel like it's a bit too restrictive. You basically have to create machines or stuff to automate some process, or having a story about someone doing repetitive stuff...? Meh

Break the cycle: I really like this one. It's clever, it assumes that your game or story has a cycle, and you want to break it somehow

Control the environment, not the player: Game concept

Each playthrough builds on the last: I like this, but I fear that this cannot be executed properly in 48/72 hours. I'd be happy if it gets chosen, but the quality of the games might be really bad

Everything grows: I have no opinion on that one, it's neither good nor bad

It only changes when you aren't looking: Game concept

Sacrifices must be made: This one is ok, but I feel like it's a bit too vague, and I strongly prefer the "Take one, leave one" theme that basically implies the same thing while being a bit more interesting

Absorb your enemies: Game concept, would create lots of Kirby copycats

Darkness is your friend: Game concept, lots of infiltration games

Don't trust the game: Game concept, horrible design

Magic, but at what cost?: This one is ok. Basically the same as "Sacrifices must be made" except it implies that there's magic in your game which is a bit restrictive imo

Making connections: This one is pretty clever, connections can mean a lot of stuff, and I see great game concepts that could derive from this theme

One item, many uses: Game concept, this can lead to clever games, but this concept does not seem exciting at all

Take one, leave one: This one is my favourite. Gives a choice/lots of choices to the player, and I feel like this can only lead to good designs. I really want to see this!

Two connected worlds: Game concept, same as LD30, not interesting, not innovative

Evolve: Game concept, not innovative enough

Fifth time, here I come!

Fifth time entering LD, and second time with my friend @raffe! Good luck to you all, and remember, have fun!

Coder needs an artist-designer

I can do well: C#/Unity3D

I can do: BoscaCeoil/Audacity/Photoshop

I suck at: Gamedesign

I totally suck at: ART

I've done 6 (?) Ludum Dares and I work as a full-time render/core engineer.

Look at my games in my profile. I can and will get "it" done. I'm in the UTC+2 time zone. Wanna help me with ART and ideas and anything else? Reply here please, last chance! Otherwise you destine me to programmer-art-cubes and your-artistic-self to... no game? :)

How to prepare for the Ludum Dare

Here's a video to help you setup for the Ludum Dare :-D Good luck y'all, enjoy the week-end :-D
