There'll also be ~$100 in game prizes! :video_game:

which everyone will have a random chance to win just by participating! :trophy:

PLUS we have a long list of content creators waiting to play your entries and give you great feedback!

PLUS top entries will be bundled together, with all proceeds going towards charity! :innocent:

So whether you're a developer, artist, or musician, a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, if you've got an awesome idea, want to try something new, or if you simply like winning great prizes, it would be great to see you take part!

Gobbo Train

Took some time and had a few bumps along the way, but I finally released Gobbo Train on the Google Play Store. It was a game that began as a Ludum Dare entry 2 years ago when the theme was “You’re the monster”. Give it a gander and let me know what you think!

Download Here

I want to join or make a group for making games

I have made 1 finished game before and am working on a couple other project but I have noticed I usually use free assets so it doesn’t really look original so I wanted to join a group or make a group.

Heyaa. I can help you NeroGM

The 1st Alakajam! starts today

We are just a few hours away from the 1st Alakajam, a new 48 hour long competition hosted on a dedicated website. This is your last chance to join the launch of this young but enthusiastic community! We're planning for around 50 entries this week-end, which looks just about the right size to get to know each other, yet big enough for proper competition.

~~You can still help choose the final theme by ranking the theme top 10. See you there!~~

Update: The theme is ALCHEMY!

From LD#38 to Release... Meet: Shape Bully

Ludum Dare #38 was a bit messy in terms of submition and so on. but i had fun and my game turned out quite well, so i decidet to put some(a lot) more time into and it turned out in a fashion i am okay with to call it released. some stuff still need improvement but for clear directions i first get some feedback collected. you think why he writes this? well its easy, firstly i wanna thank you to be ludum dare and give me fun 3 times a year to work with a fixed deadline. on the other side i shameless post my game here(and a video) so you could take a look and respond if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Thank you a lot!

Chroma Maze Deluxe – Now Available on iOS and Android!

Chroma Maze Deluxe

preview2

Chroma Maze Deluxe is my newly released game for iOS and Android, where you must swipe through randomly generated mazes to get to the goal as many times within the time limit. The walls of the maze quickly disappear! You can illuminate the path with a double-tap, but doing so also depletes some of your remaining time! Collect power-ups, and try to get to the goal as many times as possible!

Other features include:

  • Unlockable Achievements through Game Center and Google Play
  • High score leaderboard through Game Center and Google Play
  • Unlockable characters – each character plays differently
  • Upgradable power-ups to give you more time and improve your score

Chroma Maze Deluxe is a continuation of my Ludum Dare 31 entry of the same name. Chroma Maze was the first game that I ever made, so this mobile reimagining is very special to me! Please enjoy it!

Abberbury’s news

And again, hello everybody!
Maybe, of those who participated in the jam in December 2016, remember our entry:

Info post
Entry

We did not abandon the project then and worked actively on it this whole year.
At the moment we have a ready-made foundation for the game, to which we add content.
Not without bugs, of course. )
We hope that by the first quarter of 2018 the game will be available in Steam.
Well, while you can check out this little teaser:

Thanks to everyone who left feedback on our project – you helped us to become better!

My LD39 is out now!

Ludum dare 39 was my first Compo and I made a little platformer called Zapper! I came back to it this month cleaned it up a better bigger version is up now on Kongregate, Check it out if you have a sec http://www.kongregate.com/games/LakeshoreGames/zapper game.png

Just finished my LD33 game :)

Hey, do any of you remember this?

frankenbunny.png

It was my LD33 compo entry, ranked #122 overall, but it evolved into THIS !

screen1.png

So I'm quite proud to say a Ludum Dare game about a were-rabbit wandering around in a labyrinth, collecting carrots and chased by peasants became a full-fledged game !

From "Frankenbunny", the project become RUNRUNRUN, and now it's a coop arcade game for up to 4 players, heavily inspired by Pacman but with a lot of "modern" gameplay elements. Can you spot all differences with the compo version?

capsulesteam.png

RUNRUNRUN will be released on Steam October 6th, so stay tuned and let's RUN !

Pixel Driver is out on XBOX ONE, a LD39 game

I'm also working on adding a DRM free copy on the itch page, just need a bit more work before I'm done with it.

The game went from this: Ld39em2017-07-30/em12-32-33.png

Looking for a Team mate! [TEAM-MATE-FOUND]

Still early but better now than later when everyone's ready! I just left a group of 4(including myself) as I think I'd work better with just a team of 2(including myself).

If you're interested leave a comment or contact me over:

Discord: BigJiggly#1124

Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/BigJigglyNutSackInYourFace/

GameEngine: Unity5(or above) Programming language(incase you're a programmer): I prefer C#.

Not looking for a specific role, just another team member. Just to add: I'd appreciate it if you have Discord as it's easier to contact over and where above the age of at least 13.

My role(mainly): Programming(and anything else if needed).

Thanks for reading :D

Résonance

Originally a Mini Ld 67 game inspired from Sokoban, the early prototype has been revisited and turned into Résonance, a brand new game published on both PC and Android platforms.

I am looking back for feedback so I can improve this one as well as my future projects!

Résonance is a puzzle game where you have to lead a self-moving box toward the shiny goal, using the different elements standing in the level. Sound easy, right? So why not try it by yourself?

You can either download it for Android : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.LittleBellGames.Resonance

Or PC : https://littlebellgames.itch.io/resonance

Or just try the demo in your browser (no hard mode, only the 20 first levels) : https://littlebellgames.itch.io/resonance !

Free as in freedom development software

Hi all, I made a comment on a popular post here by @eager-fox. And I'm not sure who reads the comments here so because I spent a long time on it (yes, I'm that vain), I thought I'd repost it here.

For a game jam that's all about free software and requires compo participants to submit source code, I see a lot of posts here providing lists of "free" development tools that are not actually free.

I'd like to point out many of these are not free, that is, they don't respect your freedom. Most of them actually have free alternatives! I split [the post's list] up into two lists and put my recommended alternatives for the proprietary ones.

Free (great!) software:

  • Blender - (This program is incredible!)
  • Godot - (I'm really excited to use this more, it has a ton of features)
  • Krita - (Better than photoshop for painting. Incredible brush engine.)
  • Audacity - (Really easy to use!)
  • Bosca Coil - (Never used it myself, looks neat though)
  • Tiled - (Makes me want to use tilemaps for all my games)
  • Monogame - (Never used it myself, but FEZ was made with it)
  • PyGame - (I made my first real game with this! Weak; see @cmlsc's comment)

[I'd like to add these to the list, all of which I can attest to]

  • Phaser - (HTML5, supports mobile - so simple I learned it during LD once)
  • Flashpunk / Flixel - (Flash is dead, long live flash)
  • OGRE - (C++ 3d game engine, choosing which version is tough)
  • Vim - (A text editor - I can't use anything else anymore :wq)
  • GNU/Linux - (If you can, don't forget to choose a free OS, and build for Linux too!)
  • GIMP / Inkscape - (GIMP for bitmaps, Inkscape for vector graphics)
  • cocos2d - (Thanks @naca! A 2d game engine)
  • piskel - (Thanks @naca! For pixel art)
  • git - (If you're not using version control, you're gonna have a bad time - thanks @naca)
  • LMMS - (A quite complete DAW, thanks @huvaakoodia)

Proprietary (non-free) software alternatives:

  • Visual Studio
  • Adobe Fuse
  • Daz3d
  • Sketchup
  • Paint.net (although its license is quite permissive)
  • Tilemancer - They don't make their license clear / source accessible AFAIK, so proprietary
    • I recommend: Tiled (Also a great tool!)
  • LabChirp - They don't make their license clear / source accessible AFAIK, so proprietary
    • I recommend: bfxr. If that's tired, record your own with Audacity!
  • Unreal Engine - Also note this engine costs royalties
    • I recommend: Godot or OGRE if you don't need GUI.
  • Cryengine
    • I recommend: Godot or OGRE if you don't need GUI.
  • Unity Free Edition
    • I recommend: Godot. Godot seeks to mirror Unity in most ways.
  • Gamemaker
    • I recommend: Just using a 2d engine like SFML or cocos2d. TBH I never liked GM

SptyTile - I couldn't actually find this one so IDK. Never used it myself either

I got a few extra devs for ya!

I invited the other students on my college course to come and have a go at LD40, I hope they give it a shot!
