Question/Test – How this works?

Hi, a guy on gitter talked to me about ludum dare, i really like the idea, i want to do some game but i don’t have ideas neither motivation. i just want to know how this really works so i can join in a next edition.

What i need to do to join? do a post, like this one, saying “I’m in”?

How i submit? the same way as joining?

I don’t know if i can do a group to get into jam, but i’m pretty new on game making, can i participate individualy as a jam(to have the 72h)?

Also where i get the replies and how to vote on others projects?

Hello Everyone, I made an app. Please take a look

HNt2SP.png

I created this app so that I can learn more about using Unity's audio and file system.

I don't really expect anyone to use this in Ludum Dare but it would be great if someone managed to create a music with this app.

Nonsense at Nightfall

Hello everyone,

For a while now I've been reworking my first Ludum Dare entry called "Oh What a Night", now called "Nonsense at Nightfall".

I wanted to share my progress and how I improved the visuals. I'm quite happy with the result so far :)

I also made a FB page where I'll be posting all about the game and any other project I'll work on on the future. feel free to like/follow, it would mean a lot :)

I’m new to Ludum Dare. Just asking some questions here. ^,^

Hi. A small newbie in here, I’ve read the Rules & Guide before posting this. I found some parts aren’t explained there, so I just want to ask some questions :

  • How does this whole Ludum Dare thing work? Am I required to livestream the whole to be approved that it’s the game I made (I can’t livestream) or just need to submit the game to the competition when the time comes and be judged after?
  • About the place for the game to be uploaded, is it for example, on itch.io / gamejolt ?
  • Is everyone, however new they are, permitted to join the competition?

Thanks before. :)

  • adhiesc.itch.io (active)
  • gamejolt.com/@Adhiesc (old)

1. You just need to submit your game, there’s definitely a “trusting each other” aspect to the competition, which is not too big of a problem since there aren’t any prizes

Mini LD?

Hi I was just wondering if there was going to be a mini LD this month. Miss doing a game jam

Thanks in advance

Play the Remake of Losing Power, my Original Ludum Dare 39 Compo Entry!

Play the game here: https://gamejolt.com/games/Losing_Power/272647

or here:

https://d-studios.itch.io/losing-power

Losing Power was a Ludum Dare 39 Compo Entry. The theme for Ludum Dare 39 was Running Out of Power.

Gameplay Overview: This game is a platformer game. In this game, the player can move on platforms and jump. The goal for each level is to move and jump to reach a door that gives the player power. However, if the player runs out of power before reaching the door, the player will have to restart the level once again. The game is level based and dying in a level causes the player to restart the level once again.

Story: You are a machine that is losing power. Complete each level to gain power but you must hurry, otherwise you will lose power. Good luck, you will need it!

Control Overview: Up arrow key or W=Jump Left arrow key or A=Move left Right arrow key or D=Move Right

Friendly music competitions!

Hey guys! I’ve always been into music as well as game jams, so I decided to make a site like Ludum Dare but for songs! We have week long song writing competitions every other week, they’re really fun, and if you’re interested in getting better at making music, we’d love to have you join in!

Here’s the most recent compo: https://chipscompo.com/compo/18

We also have a pretty fun discord community and you should totally come chat!: https://discord.gg/JsWcBzD

(If you’re seeing this later, we do competitions at least once a week, so there will probably be a new one up on https://chipscompo.com :)

Open Jam!

Hi everybody, I’d like to let you know about a game jam I’m helping to organize.  This is the very first one, and we’re very excited to bring you…

open-jam-logo-520x292

Open Jam is a game jam with 🖤. At Open Jam, you build an open-source videogame over the weekend, rate other creators’ games, and compete for a chance to have your game featured at All Things Open, a premier open source conference. We wanted to host a jam that promotes open source games and game creation tools. That’s why we’re teaming up with Opensource.com to bring you Open Jam, a game jam dedicated to doing just that.

It’ll take place October 6-8.  All the details are on the Open Jam page.  Hope to see you there!

Chroma Maze Deluxe – Available on the App Store and Google Play Store September 25th

preview

My mobile game, Chroma Maze Deluxe, will be coming to the App Store and Google Play Store on September 25th. Chroma Maze Deluxe is a re-imagining of my Ludum Dare 31 game of the same name, suited for a mobile experience. Chroma Maze is very special to me because it was the first Ludum Dare, as well as the first game that I ever finished!

Please look forward to more on September 25th. :)
