LD 38 April 21–24, 2017

I’M IN!!!!!!

Totally new to LD so let see what happens, probably going to hard to what doesn’t kill us make us stronger 😀

I’m in!

My first Ludum Dare.

2017 is a weird year for me anyway :)

Kit: Unity 5.6 with MonoDevelop, Gimp, SFXR, Audacity. Some Public domain spritesheets and music, but I don’t know if I’ll use them yet.

Still thinking about the game itself though. I know it won’t win or even place higher than the bottom of the barrel, but I want to test if I’ll be able to complete it and make it at least fun in 48 hours.

Good luck to all!

Looking for a few more team members!

Hey guys!

You have two options: a) don’t use pre-existing assets. Period, no exceptions. b) you don’t do the Compo, you choose to do the Jam instead. The Jam has different rules, and you CAN use pre-made assets in the Jam.

As for the assets, if you’re trying for compo – everything must be created from scratch during the 48 hours. In jam category you can use pre-existing assets. Co, in compo aim for simpler visuals and sound.

IndieForger is in for some LD38 game dev!

I have been watching Ludum Dare for a while now wanting to try myself. Unfortunately there was always something. I really wanted to be part of it but there was always  an excuse to not do it. I was either at work, off sick or simply missed it. Excuse every single time. Not this time! I am in and ready!

I am not much of a game dev yet but did some coding with Unity so in terms of tools, that will be the editor of choice alongside with Adobe Photoshop. Not sure how am I going to deal with sounds yet and shaders. Those are the areas I simply can’t handle well myself well. I really hope using free available assets is ok. Need to check the rules.

I noticed some people already have game ideas they want to implement, seems like that might be good idea. Might think of something today but on the other side it might be really good fun to roll with one of a suggested one. Not decided then 😀

How exciting!

If you want to get in touch feel free to contact me via twitter @indieforger (no DMs pls) or indieforger at gmail.

Good luck everyone!

Hope you all do well!

My… entry? for MiniLD 73

So, this LD I was attempting to create a shooter with a sick OST. I made a lot of progress on the code (github repo), as well as writing one song, titled Searching out Someone. They definitely both need a lot of work (and for some reason MonoGame doesn’t want to load my .wav content files…) so I won’t be submitting an entry, but I at least wanted to show that I tried.

Oh, and good luck to everyone participating in Ludum Dare 38! I won’t be able, prior obligations. My brother, who is going to study Computer Science starting this Fall, also doesn’t seem to want to, but maybe he and I will team up on the next one!

Good luck! It’s my first LD as well, and I’m hyped as hell. Don’t run out of coffee!

I’m In!!!~

I’m going to be using a small scrappy engine built on top of Pixi.js.

My tools:

  • Music: Ableton Live
  • Code: Visual Studio Code
  • Starter Code: https://github.com/johnfn/ld-warmup
  • Pixels: My own pixel editor, maybe. Otherwise, Photoshop.
  • Map Editor: Tiled

I think Tiled is the only thing about my tools that has stayed constant through the years. I love Tiled!

Goals:

  • Finish something!
  • Aesthetics #1. Always aesthetics.
  • Maybe a little more story focus this time.

Good luck, everyone! Especially you, Ludum Dare website. You’re gonna need it. :)

I am in!

I am so excited to build a game this weekend! I am going to use some base code of my own to store global high scores. I can’t wait to see who gets the highest score. Base code can be found here: https://github.com/CodeChomper/HighScoreBaseCode

Tools:

  • GameMaker Studio 2
  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • Magicavoxel
  • Aesprite
  • Pyxeledit
  • Maschine (music)

I’m in!!!!!!!!

I will be using

Game Engine : Unity

Art Programs : Paint.net, Pyxel Edit

Audio Programs : Audacity, LMMS

Lets see what comes out of this one

We’re in!

For the first time, I’ll be taking part in Ludum Dare not alone, but in a team. Me and my long-time friend, Abaddon, Behemkot or whatever name he’s going by now, will be joining Ludum Dare 38 as “Drifting in Yellow”.

Our tools will be:

  • LÖVE
  • GIMP
  • Blender
  • bfxr (it’s better than sfxr)
  • … that’s it?
  • It’s not a lot.
  • No pizza or coffee for me this time.
  • Just lots of water and healthy food.

Have fun jamming!

I’m participating too :3

Second time doing a LD jam, and hopefully little better than last time.

I’m not sure what engine I’ll be using this time, depends on the theme.

Engine: Probably unity, otherwise self made

Visual: Gimp, ms paint, blender

Audio: lmms, audacity, fruity loops

This time I’ll try to focus more on the gameplay aspect, that was kinda left out last time 😀

I’m in, as usual!

This will be my third Ludum Dare, and i’m excited!

I might try something new this time tho. Maybe i’ll be using Unity, but maybe i just stick to regular old Game Maker.

Time will tell :)
