LD33 August 21–24, 2015

I’m in!

This will be my first Ludum Dare and I’m really looking forward to this.

I am primarily a Unity developer and I will be cannibalizing a few helpful scripts from previous projects (mostly audio, language, and management stuff).  I don’t know if I’ll finish in time, but I’d love to participate.  Good luck and happy jamming!

I’m in

First time for me. Getting really excited.

Wishing everyone the best of luck !

I’m In Again!

First off I would just like to say something that I hope at least one person will hear…

The prize for Ludum Dare is not money, a trophy, nor immense fame; the prize, instead, is getting the motivation to come up with a fun game idea that can expand into much more after the competition is over. With such a huge emphasis on the games, it only makes sense to help our fellow developers in clearly understanding the feedback we provide. I know it takes more time and effort, but I implore anyone reading this to be as descriptive as possible when writing your feedback. If you didn’t care for a part of the game, give plenty of detail. More importantly, make sure to give plenty of detail on what you enjoyed as well, even though it is easier to point out negatives.

Unfortunately, the unintentional side effect of the current rating system encourages quick ratings without much thought. However, even if you only give descriptive feedback to every fifth game you rate, I know that the developer will deeply appreciate the effort you put forth and may even return the favor. Together we can create a wonderful community for game developers. :)

Anyway, I’ll talk about my plans for this Ludum Dare! This is my fifth participation so I’ll give a brief history to my previous attempts.

My first Ludum Dare was #22 in December 2011; I did not finish on time.

My second Ludum Dare was #24 in August 2012; again I was unable to finish.

My third Ludum Dare, #28 in December 2013, was more successful and I finished in time for the Jam! http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-28/?action=preview&uid=7292

My fourth Ludum Dare, #30 in August 2014, was even more successful as this time I finished in time for the compo and had overall higher ratings. http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=7292

So now here I am, my fifth time. My goals this time are as follows:

  • Still finish in time for the compo.
  • Finish the game early enough so that I don’t have to rush graphics last minute like the previous two times.
  • Finish the game early enough to add sound.

And to help me accomplish my goals, I’m switching up my tools a bit to help me out this time as well:

  • Engine: Unity (2D)
  • Graphics: Adobe Photoshop CS5
  • Sound:
    • Adobe Soundbooth CS5
    • Audacity
    • Finale Print Music 2014

GL;HF everone!

I’m in like Flynn!

First time entrance to LD, looking forward to some friendly competition, and seeing what everyone comes up with.  Good luck, and have fun everyone!

Maybe in, and again maybe not

Yeah we’ll see,

Well ok, I will be

using:

unity.engine and c#

Graphics: sketchbookx, maybe blender

Sound: sfxr, audacity

Other stuff :whatever there is on my device :p

Anyway happy LD everyone ! 😀

I’m probably In…

I’ve entered in a couple LDs before, but I’ve never completed one before. Hopefully this year, I’ll be able to!

Tools:

  • Engine: Unity5 (or GameMaker: Studio)
    • Language: C#
    • IDE: Visual Studio/Custom Built
  • Art: Photoshop/Paint.net
  • Sound Effects: Sfxr
  • Music: Fruity Loops Studio (FLStudio)

Good luck finishing this time! Love your avatar, by the way.

I’m in for Saturday!

… but I’m out of town on Sunday. Let’s see what a 24HR Ludum Dare compo entry turns out!

I’ll be using:

  • Unity 5
  • Blender maybe
  • MagicaVoxel maybe
  • BFXR, probs
  • Beepbox, probs (but maybe AudioTool or LMMS)
  • Photoshop

Good luck to everyone out there!

I’m in from Spain (4th time already)

Here I go again, after pass succesfully all my first year college exams (In videogame Design) let’s do this.

Game Engine: Let’s try this time with Unity

Graphic tools: Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop

Music/audio: Sfrx and abundantmusic.com

Let’s do this mates, let’s rock this time harder :)

I’m In

First timer here. What could possibly go wrong…

Im also in!

Nothing better to do this weekend so I might as well join in my first LD attempt, joining up with Fafner creating a roguelike(-like) in Unity.

I’m in! (without internet)

Recent house moves have left me internetless, so I’m going in without protection.

tools:

  • Unity
  • Paint.net
  • Audacity, FLStudio, BFXR
  • Guts, determination
  • extended mobile data plan if things get desperate

Wish me luck!

I’m in

Daring to Ludum.

Will be doing it with a crew using UE4, and whatever assets can be made in the course of the weekend. Looking forward to a good time.

Possibly sort-of in

In, but not all the way. Part-way in, as it were. Lurking in the doorway of Ludum Dare, letting in a terrible draught.
In my bag is Pygame (after not having all that much luck with Unity), PyxelEdit and ModPlugTracker if music happens.

Tools of Dare

This time I am going safe with tools that I already know well: 3D Unity game with VR support.

Unity

Oculus Utilites

Blender

Photoshop

Substance Designer & Painter

Bfxr

Audacity

Ice Cream

Going in!

Right, I’m in! My toolbox will be slightly different this time.

  • Unity
  • Pixen
  • GarageBand

Pumped for the first time I try making my own game with Unity! I’ve only practiced a bit, so I’ll try to keep my ambition low. I will expect having to read or watch one or two tutorials during development, so I’m gonna aim for a game with a very simple game loop. Probably none of that multiple level stuff I did the last couple times, boy was that time-consuming.

Good luck to one and all! May our Jam be sweet and righteous.

I’m in

Couldn’t make the last one, so much musical potential!

Hopefully I can provide lots of songs this time! 😀

Let’s do this!

Going for the solo jam this time too (compo if I have enough time).
Unity and PS will be my friends.
Let’s do this!

I’m in

This is our first Ludum dare although not our first game jam. Hoping to make something cool using UE4, C++ (blueprints is all else fails), and just see how its goes.
Good luck 😀

I’m in from Colombia

I’ll try for the first time in this LD.

Tools:

  • Code: JavaScript (I’ll write everithing :S)
  • Art: Paint .Net or Graphics Gale
  • Music: Lmms
  • Sound Effects: Bfxr

I hope to finish my game on time 😀

I’m in as well !

My first time doing LD. Main goal is to finish a (preferably playable and at least a bit good) game during the weekend 😀

Gonna be using Unity5.

Good luck everyone!

My First LDJam

I’m excited to say that with a friend, I’ll be entering LDJam for the very first time, and look forward to see what my fellow participants make! wish you all the best of luck 😀

Its not too late to find a programming partner over at reddit.com/r/gameteam. Or, if that doesn’t work out/your determined to do it alone, I recommend stencyl (stencyl.com).

Thanks for the advice,i will check reddit but i also found gamemaker sometime ago i mean i can program the basics just you know very noobish stuff.

We’re in!

We’re two software engineering students attempting to make a game. :)

Our tools will be:

  • Language: Javascript & canvas
  • Editor: Atom
  • Graphics editor: Pixen
  • Sounds: sfxr

Source code will be over at our GitHub.

I’m in anyway

I don’t remember which time it would be for me to participate.

But it’s again will be on my birthday the 22nd of August.

This time I will be on holidays in addition. I will be traveling to Indonesia with a stop at Seoul, Korea.

Anyway will try to create a game. Will look for inspiration in Korea. And coding during flights.

This time will be solo on my own. Will see if it works.

Will be using:

  • ActionScript 3.0
  • Tiled
  • Pixel Edit
  • GarageBand or Sfxr

P.S. The word “game” in korean will be the same as in english LOL

게임 (kke-im)

I might be in.

I had 0 plans to be in a hour ago but that suddenly changed.

I’ll probably do something with Contruct 2 or Twine.

That is almost exactly how my voting page looks like right now 😀 With different themes tho… Not sure about what happened this year, last year I was like “pluspluspluspluszerominusplusplus…” and now I’m like “minusx10pluszerominusx8…”. BTW Good luck stranger, I just wanted to randomly share my thoughts!

Some prep code

Still not sure I’m in for this weekend, but I posted some prep code to Github. It’s just a short set of functions that help me write visual-novel style scenes in the browser without worrying about async, as well as a scene selector that allows me to create a “deck” of scenes and randomly select one after another that meets preconditions based on game state.

Ready!

I am ready for the game jam! Good Luck everyone, and ofcourse have fun!

To be in or not to be in

Not sure i will make it this time, but when i do i will definitely be in: mask on!

I’m IN!!!!!

What the title says. First Ludum Dare btw. Supah excited.  :)

Graphics artist looking for collab

Hey,

I only just caught the info for this from Twitter, created an account just to see if anyone NEEDS a graphics artist.

I have been working on three platformers and a top down shoot em up using Stencyl. I’ve done my own coding just to test my graphics, but it is a slow process as I’m not a very good coder. I have a ton of ideas – times short – but I could spend the next 40 hours or so putting something together. I could also possibly do some of the work on sound. If you want to collab at short notice let me know – quick 😉

I’ve attached an image of one of my current games!

PS. I am very keen to create a graphic adventure like Monkey Island or the Indiana Jones games. I’d also like to create a fusion between platformer – shoot em up in this format – so I guess more like Zelda or something….

Dodi

I’m in

I’m usually not good with working with such a small time, but I will try to do something for this LDD (my first one btw)

Obligatory “I’m In” post

As opposed to the last few times, when the Ludum Dare couldn’t be scheduled worse for me, this Ludum Dare happens exactly at the right point. No obligations and projects to worry about all weekend. It is without doubt that I can say: I’m in.

Just like the last few times I will be using Unity. I’d love to make a 3D game for once, but with my non-existing experience in 3D programs, I am delaying that for another time. I will be using Photoshop for sprites, and online tools in combination with GarageBand for sound and music.

I used to do livestreams, but last time I did not stream and for some reason I ended up with something better. I am not sure yet if I will be streaming my development this year. I am thinking about doing short stretches on livestream, but it depends if I can figure out streaming software on OSX. I might do a double-stream with a friend though.

I will be making a timelapse this time around though. I have never done one before and I think it’d be cool to try.

This year I will also try to hang around in the IRC a bit more, just to see if that makes it even more fun :)

I hope to see you all this weekend; I am looking forward to playing your games.

I am in!!

Hello!

This is our first time for my team. Let’s hope we do something interesting!!!

We will use Unity!

I’m In 0_0

First time for me, sooooo excited!!!!!!. probably going solo or maybe whit a friend i dunno :I

Tools:

  • Language: C#
  • Engine : Unity 5
  • Art: Gimp 2
  • Music: Lmms
  • Sound Effects: ??? dunno
  • Eh? food does that count?

I’m looking to work with someone who’s better at coding than me. 2d graphics and possibly sound if needed!

I’m in

Been a while since I have done one of these, and it seems like a good time to learn GoDot….

Here we go

The universe has conspired to give me almost the entirety of the comp and jam off, so I think I’m going to give this one a go.  I’ll see you all in a world in the sky (hopefully).

Tags: html5, javascript, Ludumdare

i’m in!?!?!

might be taking part this time, if i like the theme, and also if i find the time.

Not really sure what tools i’ll be using, it’ll probably be python/pygame, or js/phaser.

glhf

I’m in!

Looking forward to it! I’ve got all the ingredients for a big pot of soup and I feel more confident in my coding than I ever have!

I’ll be using Photoshop, Famitracker (maybe some Milkytracker), and Superpowers. The soup I will be making is a delicious Tom Kha Gai.

Good luck everyone!

I’m back for round 6

It’s time to go again, this time it’s my sixth Ludum Dare! I’ll be working with the same tools as usual:

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse

Engine/Framework: GoudaGamengine (custom one)

Graphics: Paint.NET

Audio: Not sure, but probably sfxr

I didn’t get the timelapse to work properly last time, but I’ll try again using Chronolapse! Let’s jam!

First Game Ever And First Ludum Dare Too !

Let’s do this :)

  • IDE: Flash Builder 4.6
  • Language: ActionScript 3.0 /w Starling
  • Music/Sound: Fl Studio 12
  • Graphics: Gimp

Good luck! Remember not to scope too large. This is my first LD as well but I’ve made games before. btw I hope you can get it done but don’t be discouraged if you can’t, keep working on that game and once you think it’s alright, post it to newgrounds or something, maybe even send me a link, whether you make it on time or not, my newgrounds username is FSt-Germain. I’d like to try it out.

Renns Glog

This is my game log, aka GLOG because it sounds funny!

I’m looking forward to this ludum dare, I’ve done one a few years ago and it went well, looks like I’m going solo at the moment which is fine as a test of what I’ve learnt over the years.

I’ll be using unreal engine and potential 3D art, or full UMG gameplay :p we shall see.

Good luck everyone!

@rennfarnell

May the GameDev gods be with you!

And I’m in… seems like 4th time now, as always – with new team, different ideas, a lot of boobs, asses, filth and gore (I’ll try to keep it kids-friendly) 😀 Can’t wait to see the theme, a lot of interesting ones this time :)

I’m in for the jam!

After two LD compos gone horribly wrong, I am in once again.

This time, however, I am not alone: My mate nerdy and I are going to try our best to create a game and hopefully learn a lot on the go. That is what we are participating for, to learn more about game making and techniques.

We are going to use:

  • Java with LibGDX in IntelliJ IDEA
  • FL Studio/Bitwig Studio
  • Photoshop CS6 Extended

My setup:

My setup

Prepared for anything and everything

Nerdy’s setup:

Nerdy's setup

A good setup for even better work

Nerdy is going to stream part of the development process from his point of view; you can watch the game making at nerdyhype’s twitch channel or follow his status updates at his twitter.

I wish I could also stream my perspective, but unfortunately my internet really isn’t well-suited for live streaming.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing all the amazing games this ld is going to produce and wish everyone good luck!

But for the team formation?

I’m In

Wow I can’t wait till theme announcement on Friday at 6:00pm here.  This is gonna be so much fun.  I am looking forwards to trying new things.  I want to approach the design phase with the most simple Idea I can and add a story as simple as I can make it.  Just I have never tried this and all my Ludum dare gameshave been overcomplicated. So i’m looking to make this a little easier on myself.

I will be using these tools:

  • Blender
  • Unity 5.1.x
  • Gimp 2.8
  • Audacity
  • Pandora (music is important)

Good luck to all, and have fun.

Yes in again!

Didn’t think I would make it but turns out I’ll have a little time for this so I’m in again. Third time. Last time I actually got something out so high hopes this time. I’ll be in the Jam and I already have an idea which I will try shoehorn the theme into – probably not great but that’s my plan!

Tools
Visual Studio 2015
Xamarin Studio
Xamarin
Stock photos
Noun project

Ready for LD

For the third time, I’ll join! Will be using

JavaScript with HTML5 Canvas
Procedurally generated graphics OR Photoshop (prefer the former)
Bfxr for sounds (probably)Guitar or piano + Mic for music :)
Cats (for cuteness)

Hoping for a nice theme. Like, maybe: “A world in the skies”. We’ll see.

Have a good LD everyone.

I’m in!

My first game jame yet, using ue4, 3ds max, and fl studios.

Good luck to everyone else.

I’m in and more!

Ninth time I compete and this time around I’m hosting a Ludum Dare party at the Islandworks’ offices. I’ll be teaming up with Ruben from Gamestad (A global but also city orientated community for gamers and game developers engaging with eachother) and with us will be @dickpoelen doing his own thing, the creator of Paca Pong 😉 It will be the first time I’m doing the Jam and the first time I’m hosting an Ludum Dare related event. It’s all so exciting!

Follow us on our live blog!

For the upcoming series and Ludum Dare I prepared my normal toolset including:

And lastly:

  • Tape, lots of paper and a pen

music: I dunno…

and maybe : eat mochi

I’m gonna be doing caricatures when the theme is announced so I wont get started until about 10p cali time (aprox. 4 hours after theme announcement). I’m gonna try and sketch out ideas in my mind based on the options in the final round of voting not in hopes of getting a head start, so to speak, but, just as an exercise for myself…

I’m in for the first time!

I might miss the beginning a little due to work, but I’ll be jamming for the first time! Super excited.

Engine: Unity + C#, Possibly Clickteam Fusion 2.5 for prototyping

Graphics: Inkscape

Sound: BFXR (I think)

Music: Where ever I can find it :)

First time for our team.  Depending on the topic we’ll probably be using Unity 5.  We are going to try to livestream as much as we can here: http://www.twitch.tv/rovingsquid .

I’m in! First time

This is gonna be my first Ludum Dare and first real GameJam, Im gonna participate in the Jam.

  • Engine: Unity3d
  • Language: C#
  • Art: Gimp and maybe some from assets god(Kenney)

Hopefully some product will me made atleast!

Queued up to Code

My first LD. I will be participating in  the compo. My biggest worry is that I won’t learn as much about myself as I’d like to, as that’s what people seem to say their most valuable takeaway is.

Gonna be using:

  • Javascript + HTML Canvas
  • Basic 2D Collisions
  • GIMP 2
  • Mic + Various household objects + Win 8 sound recorder default software

Well, Hey there….

Ready for challenge

Second Time.

– Unity
– Wacom tablet with Photoshop
– and some free stuff from internet as sfx or music.

Good luck for everyone and have fun!

I’m in, with a basic Unity jam template

This’ll be my first Ludum Dare. I’ve had some success in other jams before, most recently GBJam, but I haven’t made anything this fast before, so we’ll see how it goes.

I pulled out some generic-ish Unity scripts from previous projects that I’ve reused before and put them together into a github project. I can’t guarantee you’ll find any of it useful and there’s no real documentation, but it’s what I’ll be using to rapidly prototype stuff, so here it is: https://github.com/ironpencil/jamtemplate

You can check out some of my other games online at ironpencil.com if you’re interested. Good luck everyone!

I’m in!

This will be my first Ludum Dare. I’m sooo excited and I’ve got Monday and Tuesday off work to recover.

Good luck everyone!

I’m in! :D

I’m in for the third time. 😀

Ludum Dare is always a good time for me to experiment with new stuff. Even though most of the time I don’t make an incredible game, I always learn a lot of new things.

Getting my workspace ready both virtually and physically.

I’ll use :

  • Game Engine : Game Maker Studio
  • Graphics : Photoshop CS6
  • Music : Ableton Live 9.2 & Cool Edit Pro 2.0
  • Drink / Fuel : Coca-Cola

Im in!

looking forward to some hectic game dev. Good luck all!

Joining

I’m here for the 33rd Lewd, um, Dare. I’ll be participating in the Victoria Chapter in person, I guess. Might scuttle off to a more private place to work and then show up at the end.

Just wanted to publicly appreciate your Paint.NET plugin: thank you very much for sharing! It shall revolutionize the way I work with my sprites. 😀

Video of my work

It’s a bit clunky but created a youtube account to demonstrate my work. It’s not really edited very well and takes a while on one game which is on hold. The final two examples are right at the end and a lot shorter.

I’m looking to work with a coder for this Ludumdare if possible – but generally future collaboration. I’ve got loads of ideas for games – but I’m keeping them close to my chest until I find someone I can work with! 😉

Hi,

I want into this business. This is my first time doing this, and I will probably fail, but I will do so whilst living the dream.

Nice! Have you done LD before?

I’m in

I’m in! Again.

Flash and cookies.

Guess what?

I’m in, but I said this already. The thing is, I will be posting progress updates on the IRC channel. I am pta2002, and I hope to see you on irc://irc.afternet.org#ludumdare!

Shall Participate

My base code is not really ready right now. I just implemented streaming terrain with collision via quadtree, but I don’t have the full suite of swept shape colliders done, or biped movement routines and such. Just basic rays. Here’s what 100k rays looks like!

100k rays bury the terrain

100k rays bury the terrain

So this time I thought instead of struggling with bugs in my base code the entire time I’d use a middleware package and maybe enter the jam instead. Looking back at My Author Page it seems I haven’t finished a single game since I switched from XNA to SharpDX.

So tentative plan is unreal or unity or maybe something 2D. I bought that humble gamedev bundle awhile back and it came with all sorts of wacky development tools.

The biggest hurdle will just be getting back into the swing of things. I’ve been too addicted to games to code anything for a long time.

Im in the JAM

I’m in using:

  • Javascript (HTML5)
  • Pixi.js & Howler.js
  • Piskel, Audacity and SFXR

I will be working with a friend who will help me with the idea and the music.
We are not using any pre-LD assets.

Our developement will be livestreamed at Twitch.TV on the TiByte channel.

Good LD-Luck to everyone involved!
Greetings from Germany.

We are in !

Me and my pal are getting in for the first time in the Jam category.

i will be using Unity  to code, @Chaotic will be using whatever to draw stuff.

We are excited !

Mhmmm, Jam…

I’m in!

Tools:
– Unity
– Reaper
– GIMP

Good luck, lets have some fun! <3

I am in!

I’ll be using Unity (fo the games) and Logic Pro (fo the music) to create my entry to the Jam  Compo (hopefully!) category.

I’ve been toying with unity for a few years now, and have been modding games since I was a kid- this seems like the perfect excuse to get off my ass and make one!

Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with :)

It looks like it’s time for the 33rd Ludum Dare (And my second one! :D)

I had a lot of fun with Ludum Dare 32 so I’m hyped up for this one. I’ll be participating in the Jam again this time.

I’ll be using Unity as my game engine and Visual Studio for programming. I’ll also use Photoshop and Illustrator for art design. I’ll use Google for the audio 😉

If anyone’s interested in my LD32 game, here’s the link!

Best of luck everyone! :3

I’m defiantly excited to finally be able to join everyone else in this Ludum Dare granted I finish my English homework today and have the weekend free. Its already the 21st here in NZ and I was worried for a moment that I had miss calculated when it would start 😀

I plan on using:

  • Gamemaker Studio professional
  • Serif Drawplus x6 and/or Gimp
  • For music, maybe This Exquisite Forest but idk if this music is allowed for external use. I may modify it myself but does anyone know if this would be allowed in the Compo? Thanks :) anyone else know of a simple free music creator? I like to use ambient music in my games but any simple music creators would be nice to know about :) thanks.
  • I’ll probably mix and make my sounds in audacity.

looking forward to building and playing some games :)
