LD33 August 21–24, 2015

I’m (probably) in as a musician!

But only as long as I can find someone who needs my help. :S it sucks to be only able to make music and sfx!

I’ll be checking back here every night before the compo, so if you’re in need of a random musician, please drop a comment. :)

Post some links to some of your music and sfx!

Like voxel said, you should post some links to some samples. That usually generates a lot more interest, if people know the kind of stuff that you do. With that being said, don’t think that all you can do is make music. That is your strong point, sure, but that does not mean that you can not try other things. There is still some time left before that jam starts, and there are many easy tools to use to make games out there. Try Unreal 4 and it’s blueprints visual code system.

I agree with rybread761. There are tools that make game creation very accessible to beginners. Unreal 4 and blueprints is a good idea if you’re interested in 3D. If you’re interested in 2D, I’d recommend giving Construct 2 a shot.

found this in the LD25 game archive

in the readme:

Ludum Dare 25 entry

Well, there isn’t a theme announced yet, but I’m gonna go ahead and set up the
defaults so I can get going when there is one. In 3 hours.

Yes, I already slept. It was reported my sleep quality was 27% or so, but I
had a really, really good dream. It involved Revision prep, my parents, and
Moleman2. At one point in the dream version of Moleman 2, Gargaj and I were
talking and I was wearing corpse paint. And my parents weren’t phased.
Also, a bit later (the corpse paint changed quite a bit during the filming,
which seemed to span a 2 minute period. You know. Dreams.) the corpse paint
changed to have a Finnish flag prominently on my forehead, and a more faded
us flag over my nose area. Well. Much more faded. I liked it. Then my
parents went off to the stage area with someone to watch some demos while I
talked to folks, and I caught up with them a bit later and my mom wanted to
see this dress thing in a case so she started taking it out and I helped her,
and then she held it up and it looked nice and we discussed making things and
demos and what we do at parties and it was all very cool.

This of course all started with dreaming/thinking about LD themes.

Attempt #3

This is my third go at a LD, and hopefully the first one where I don’t give up in the first few hours due to lack of time, life stresses, or hating the theme. My skills have improved immensely since the last one, so we’ll see if that improves my confidence. I’m in, and will submit something this round!

Anyways, my arsenal:

Engine:

-Unity 5

Language:

-C#

Art:

-GIMP 2.0

Sound:

-Bfxr and Audacity

Beverage:

-An unhealthy amount of energy drinks

Wish me luck!

Me, is that you, but with more energy drinks?

Chewie we’re home!

Our 2nd ludum dare! No Wand Studios will work hard!

We don’t know yet wich engine will use but we’re that we use a lot of caffeine!

Stay tunned!

Theme Slaughter Command Line Tool

I made this little command line tool for LD32 and just verified that it still works for the current slaughter.

If you want to use it, here’s the original post

Have fun!

Custom Wallpaper

Simple wallpaper featuring a whole bunch of Sierpinski triangles in the background.

custom-minimalist

There is no “33” in the wallpaper, and the aspect ratio is a little wonky, but I personally still think it looks cool!

I’m in!

For the Jam that is. First time Ludum Dare participant, but I look forward to the challenge!

What are you using to make your game?

I will take on the programming part in a 2 person team.

I have no idea what’s going on [towlie.jpg]

I am curious about this LD thing I’ve been seeing pop up into my Twitter feed over the past few years. Now I have finally made an account. I get that we make a game, but… that’s about it. I figure I’d probably do the “jam” version since it’s my first time. I will most likely be working alone (as always). So… I just start making a game at a certain time and stop at a certain time and then upload it somewhere? Hoping to have fun, once I figure out how this works!

I’m In! #3539

Only goal this time is to have fun! (And not be terrible..) On LD32 I did terribly due to getting over-hyped up months before. This time, I forgot about Ludum Dare until just yesterday.

Here are my tools:

Sound: SFXR / BFXR

Editor: Notepad++

Language: JavaScript / HTML5

Graphics: Anything I can get my hands on.

Preference on theme: Don’t care, as long as I can make a game with it.

May I recommend using Sublime Text instead of Notepad? It will make your life so much easier.

@Firefox, I am using the exact same tools. Good luck!

I’m In!

Java ftw!

Unofficial Ludum Dare Facebook group!

Wanna connect with other Dare participants? Check out the unofficial Ludum Dare 33 Facebook group here!

Third time’s the charm

And this time I WILL submit something… anything.

Tools:

  • Unity
  • PyxelEdit
  • Bfxr
  • Sublime TExt

Support system:

  • Toggl
  • Coffee

In, I am

I’m in, assuming something doesn’t prevent me from being so. Surely, school can’t be that bad, in the first weeks?

I’m going to be making my game in either Rust (with the glium library) or Unity, depending on how large in scope my idea will be. Graphics I’m going to either make them fully in code, or draw in Paint.NET, music I’ll be making in LMMS if I will make any music at all.

That’s all folks!

I’m in, therefore I am.

We’re IN!

Tools:

– Sublime Text : HTML/JS

– Graphics : Photoshop

– Sound : I have no Idea

Good look everyone!

I’m In!

In for my third Ludum Dare! This time, I’m mixing up the tool set:

  • RPG Maker VX for game engine
  • Not entering Graphics/Audio categories.

That’s right, I’m doing the Jam! This is a big experiment; I want to focus 100% on design and storytelling this time. Will it work? Will it crash and burn? Find out… next (next) week on: Tales from the Ludum Dare, Episode 33: Attack of the Killer Game Engine!

Edit: I’ve been playing around with the idea of randomly generating dungeons. Since I’m doing the Jam, I thought I’d write the generator and integration code (bleh! boring!) early, and focus entirely on balance, story, and mood (yay! fun!) during the actual Jam. Code is here.

I’m in!

I’m In!

I will be working solo this time around. In the recent past I have come to love a little program called Inkscape, as a kid I used to love drawing up my own Mario, Donkey Kong, etc levels, characters and such. Inkscape has helped me realize, again, that I do enjoy drawing, not just programming(which I do at my day job, and love). So my focus this time around is to create something that looks really nice. I will work on programming the first 4-6 hours or so, then focus on art, and Juice the remaining time.

Tools:

Unity(2d)

Visual Studio for coding

Inkscape for art

Sfxr or my mouth for sound

Darkwave studio for music (assuming I get around to it this time, and remember how to use it)

Good luck everyone and happy gaming!

Looking to join/form a team

I am looking to form or join a team with other people around the world.

I am a programmer and work with Unity and C#.

Let me know if you are interested.

Are you looking for some music? If you are then let me know because I could help you out!

I’m In, The beginning of everything

For my second time, I’m In.

I tried to create an game for ludum dare 32 but I had no knowledge so I gave it all  by watching some tutorials on google to release a playable game . I gave a challenge to my friend to participate with me to the LD 3, but my friend did not know how to program, so I look forward to seeing what it will happen.

It’ll be fun !

Tools :

  • Game Engine :  Game Maker studio
  • Graphics : Photoshop CC 2014
  • Sound : FL Studio 12

Have Fun !

I’m in!

I’m going to give this a shot. I’ll livestream my progress, because why not, right?

Not sure which weapons I’ll bust out of my arsenal… I might go Unity, with Gimp and SFXR. We shall see!

I’m in o/

Well, it’s been some time I hear about this Ludum Dare, and now that I have some finished games on my own, maybe it’s time for me to try that out!

– Working with Unity3D, C#

– Drawing with… eerrr… Paint?… Or Blender if I happen to try some 3D (bad idea).

– Making music with Cubase.

– No livestream, the shame of an unfinished game would be too strong. But maybe a timelapse, this way I can keep it for myself if it’s miserable.

– Probably some tears of dead unicorns to keep me in shape.
