LD33 August 21–24, 2015

I’m in!

I’m in for my 2nd ludumdare!

I really enjoyed my first LD but I couldn’t make decent art work nor music. So for this one I tried to practice a lot those aspects… not very successful, but still I did improve xp. Couldn’t improve my engine much too, but it’s still usable! Untill it begins I will still practice!

Good luck everybody! See you guys in two weeks!

  • Language: C++ (My own engine!)
  • IDE: Visual Studio
  • Graphics (pixel art): GIMP
  • Music: LMMS
  • SFX: BFXR

MiniLD #61 Compilation & Article

I have played all of the games entered in the MiniLD #61 in my video compilation series and wrote an article on my favorites!

I’m In

Well this is going to be my first LD and I am excited, no idea how it’s gonna turn out but looking forward to it.

Most likely it’s gonna be made in Python using Pygame and Paint.net for pixel art. May be done in Java but I will have to see how that goes.

I’m also making games in PyGame.

I’m In

I was going to use unity this time, I learned javascript and everything, but the humble game dev bundle had a license for Stencyl in it, which I have used before so I thought for the time being I might as well stick to what I know. I have a few ideas already that I hope I can fit into the theme, I’m going to focus on sound design this time. Graphics will be done in photoshop, and may be a mix of pixel art and real photos I take then edit over the dare.

I’m in

Hello, person who reads “I’m in” posts.

Stuff:

Engine: I’m going to cheese it and use Construct or Unity

Art: Blender, Gimp, and Paint.NET

Sound: Audacity and SunVox

I have an idea where I’m going try pre-rendering the animations in Blender. It’s going to be expensive but I’m doing it anyway.

I’m In for Number 10

4 years ago, I discovered Ludum Dare.

3 years ago I participated for the first time.

9 events in, and I’m amazed at how far I’ve come.

I’m proud to participate for the 10th time.

I’ve really enjoyed developing with the Pico-8 recently, so I may use that this time around.  However, my go-to Ludum Dare tool is Construct 2.   If I use C2, I’ll likely use this boilerplate file.

Other possible tools: Piskel, Gimp, AutoTileGenBosca Ceoil, cgMusic, Spriter, bfxr

I’m In

This will be my first time entering the comptetition with my friends. Can’t wait!

Game Engine: Unity

Art: GIMP

Energy: Caffeine

Let’s do this! 😀

I’m in!

This will be my first game jam, and my second game, my first is still being worked on.

Tools and what-not:

Engine: Game Maker: Studio

Art: Gimp, I might use pixlr, and Game Maker’s Sprite editor

Sound: Audacity, BFXR, and SFXR

Also I might have an artist and musician.

I’m in!

Its my first Ludum Dare, but not my first GameJam so I am a bit excited.

I use:
Game Engine: Unity3D
Code Language: C# (god I hate JS)
Art: Paint.Net and GIMP
Sound: bfxr and cgMusic (maybe…)
Timelaps: Chronolapse

Let us all have fun!

JS haters unite.

SDL2 joystick interrogator (first version)

SDL2 joystick interrogator animation

I recently rebooted development of a project I tried to develop for the Ludum Dare 20 contest held in April 2011, the theme of which was “It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this!”

As the project will require a controller with an analogue stick to play I’ve begun to develop a utility to interrogate the capabilities of various controllers – and as I feel that the SDL2 documentation is lacking with regards to the joystick support offered by that library I’ve posted to my blog the source code to the first version of that utility, for the benefit both of myself and of others.

In, of course

Heya! I’m definitely in for this Ludum Dare, once again as both participates of the Jam, and the organizer of Tech Valley Game Space site in Troy, NY. Currently unsure whether I’ll take the Compo challenge or just the Jam, as it’s going to be an incredibly busy month for us, but we’ll know when the time comes.

I’ll be using my usual tools, including:

  • Unity
  • C#
  • Visual Studio
  • My own custom template project
  • Unity Standard Assets package
  • Mercurial
  • Blender
  • Photoshop CS5
  • Garage Band
  • Audacity
  • BFXR
  • LabChirp

😀 Neat that I found this. :3

My “I’m in” post!

This will be my first Ludum Dare, first game jam/compo, and if I finish <fingers crossed>, my first game! (Not counting that Flappy Bird clone I made once and the countless hours of started projects that never came to fruition). I’m excited! I’ve sat and watched from the stands for many years; enjoying so many of the entries. This year, I take the plunge with the ultimate goal of completing something. Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with. Let’s have fun!

Im in!

Hey guys! This is my first ludum dare and I am excited to participate! Good luck to everyone!

I’m in with Fortran!

Hi everyone!

This will be my first Ludum Dare competition.  As my title says, I’ll be using Fortran to write my game.  What?  You haven’t heard of Fortran?  Well, go open up a history book and it’s somewhere in there near the beginning 😉

I’m a physics student turned programmer.  I haven’t learned enough C++ yet to make a game, so I’ll be using Fortran.

For the record, this will be my second game.  Check out this awesome Space Invaders style game I made: https://github.com/kevin-d-omara/Space_Attack

Cheers!

You don’t need to learn any C++ to make a game. In fact, I would say it is too low level to be of good use in the short amount of time in the Ludum Dare.

I know Fortran!…well…I know OF it, certainly. I’ve heard of it. I never bothered learning it, though. 😉 The oldest language I know is C. Or old-style BASIC.

I haven’t used any libraries yet. My game was 99% from scratch. I’ll definitely look into that though!

Hey, cool, go with Fortan! I will look forward to play your entry! Go go go!!!

Interesting… I wonder how you’ll make it playable to most people.

Good luck and cool usage of 1950’s technology!

I’m in

Once again I am going to use D and my game engine for the second time: https://github.com/WebFreak001/D2DGame

Gonna add some features like sounds to it in the two weeks now!

I wonder if anyone else uses D 😀

I’m in.

Hello everyone.

I hope to join in on this Ludum Dare event, I have learned a lot about game development since the last one and I think I’ll do better this time around.

Tools:
Game Engine – Unity or (hopefully) my own Java game engine
Audio – FL Studio
Modeling – Blender
Art – GIMP

I might be livestreaming this time. I’ll be at twitch.com/nidarcreates.

Is the source of your own Java game engine (going to be) publicly available? I am working on/improving our own game framework, also in Java, and I am interested to see how other developers designed their frameworks/engines!

AntiVerse, Post Jam LD 30 game.

I know it’s almost Ludum Dare 33 and it is a bad time to post this but whatever. I JUST PUBLISHED MY FIRST ACTUAL GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111!!!!!!!!1!!!1! It is released to android and it might look like I already have two games up there, which I do, those are more like tests and joke games. This one I have worked on since November. I now know how much time it takes to polish games (since this is my first I might have messed a bit up but,). I made the music in this game which I kept trying to perfect and that wasted a lot of time. I still wanted to perfect more and more but decided to just release it because it would take an infinite amount of time to fix everything. So now it is out. I can’t wait to hear reactions from people and hope people like it. Right now there are 0 downloads because I just released it. There will be many updates including being able to share your custom levels through email and the ability (coming farther down the road) to upload your level to a webserver so everyone around the world will be able to play and enjoy your level. The server part will take longer because I am also going to figure out a way to rate user made levels by a difficulty rank so you can earn points by completing them too incase you beat all of the levels before I release more. The game is a puzzle game where there are two worlds. There is a character in each that each move in the same. You must make both characters reach their destination while going through portals and crashing into walls. Thanks for reading this long clump of text and thanks in advance for trying out my game. Hope you like it.

You might not be able to find it from searching since it hasn’t been downloaded that many times yet. It just shows a bunch of AntiViruses instead.

nice, what engine you used to create the game?

Time For a Change

Ludum Dare 31: Just kinda hung around, didn’t do anything. -FAIL

Ludum Dare 32: Strove to make a game, but failed in the process, never finished it -FAIL

Ludum Dare 33: Finally time for me to clean up my act and actually get something done, even if it sucks

My weapons of choice:

  • Love2D
  • Paint.NET
  • BFXR
  • FL Studio 11 (or Kevin MacLeod; gotta love Kevin MacLeod)
  • Simple template project that has all basic Love2D callbacks.

Hopefully I don’t wuss out like I did the last time. I don’t plan on getting anywhere near top 200, but hey, nothing’s impossible. :)

Good luck everyone, and happy coding!
