I’m in!

Reporting in for my 9th LD! (48hr compo). Hoping for a good theme and to avoid a repeat of last time (i.e. throwing game away after day 1 and starting from scratch…)

Toolage:

  • Language: Java
  • IDE: IntelliJ IDEA
  • Framework: LibGDX
  • Base Code: Panko (personal library)
  • Levels: Tiled
  • GFX: Photoshop
  • SFX: Ableton Live or OpenMPT, Audacity, SFXR

Good luck to all – have fun and looking forward to checking out your entries!

cheers,
~berk

Preparations are go

So, I’ve started fixing up my battlestation and base code for the coming LD. Did a quick cleanup of my desk and started piecing together all the third-party libraries I’m going to use, will put up a warmup repo soon as I finish the main framework I’ll need.

I had to give up the OSG dream though, had issues getting it working as I wanted it to. So going to give my entity-component system Kunlaboro some love instead.

Final tool list:

You can have a picture of my battlestation:

2015-04-12 18.09.49

And I’ll be starting a warmup stream while working on assembling the framework, github link will be in the stream and the chat if everything works out well.

Hope to see you there.

I’m in

I’m in for the second time, hope this time i will do better, than the last time! 😀

Engine : Unity 5;

Graphics : Gimp and Inkscape;

Music : cgMusic;

This is my game from the LD#31

Good luck to all who participate!

Taking part in my first ever LDJAM

Hello developers!

My name is Mauno Vähä, I am programmer by work and hobby, and I am here to give #LDJAM a try.

As a background, I have done some #GGJ’s previously (+ some other game jams), but I have never tried #LDJAM.

That being said, my expectations are high, but at the same time, I really don’t what to expect. 😀

But, if I have learned anything from previous game jams, I try to keep things simple (KISS) and just make a game which is playable + fun.

Therefore, I will be probably using at least following tools:

  • GameMaker Studio – Fast to prototype and to make games with
  • Photoshop – I have used it waaaaaaaaaay too long, so it’s best choice for graphics
  • Sounds – I have no idea, something which I need to decide while doing the game, all suggestions welcome!

So, this is the end of this short post, I look forward to the gamejam and playing the games which are created during the weekend.

Cheers!

¡I want to code games!

I want to make a simple game using a language i coded already but i want to learn new language, to use:

  • Java or Lua?

Why not give both of them a try and decide for yourself? Open-ended questions like this will usually just get you biased and subjective answers.

I’m In.

First time.

Using either JavaScript/Node-Webkit or Clickteam Fusion 2.5 for code,

Variable programs for IDE/Art/Music/Sfx.

Looking forward to it.

I’m In!

This will be my first Ludum Dare 😀

My tools will be as follows:
IDE: IntelliJ IDEA
Langage: Haxe! (coming from an actionscript background, hopefully I can get the basics down in a week)
Music: Bosca Ceoil
Sound: TBD
Art: Pixen
Snacks: Trail Mix & Red Bull

Eeeeeee!

Seeing that you come from an AS background, i think you should be up and running with OpenFL witihin a day ^_^

I’ve been waiting… (I’m in)

Howdy all,

Over the past months I’ve been following the Ludum Dare site. I’ve been watching, waiting, studying how the competition works and how everyone makes their games n’ stuff. Now here I am, ready to participate after waiting so long for the Jam. It’s my first time, yes, but I’ve seen a lot of LDs and I’m pretty sure this one’s gonna be good. Because it’s my first time, I might have trouble making something in such a short time, but I’ll definitely try to make something.

I’ll be using tools like:

Unity or Photoshop (The level 1 Indie game dev starter pack)

and for audio, I’m using an MML (Music Macro Language) program.

I’m looking forward to this!

– Kakureta

We’re in

First LD, we’re entering the Jam as a father and son team.

Using something like.

  • Language: Haxe with OpenFL
  • Code: Sublime Text 2 / Vim
  • Sound: SFXR,  Audacity, ?Microphone
  • GFX: Gimp, Flash CS6

Haxe is brand new to both of us. Basic plan is to get plenty of sleep, keep the game simple,  share all the roles, do some pair programming, and let the theme decide the style of game. Will probably do all our own graphics and sound.

Looking forward to it. Good luck everyone!

Can’t wait

This is my very first Ludum Dare.

I really can’t wait for this weekend. Good luck to all participants may you have a lot of fun.

Check list: (depending on the game I want to make)

  • Unity / Game Maker Pro
  • My recording studio
  • Fun
  • Fun Fun
  • oh yeah and Red Bull

Good luck & Have fun!

In it

I’m also in the no job, no income club.  But I’ll bite.

I’ll put up a Flash game for you guys. ٩(●˙▿˙●)۶

We’re in!

This is our first Ludum Dare Game Jam. We’re really excited to participate!

Language: Java

Framework: libgdx

IDE: Eclipse

Graphics: GIMP, Paint.NET

Good luck to everyone!

I’m In! But first some questions…

Hello everyone!

This is my first Ludum Dare, and my first game jam/competition ever (I’m very excited!). As I’m new to all this I have some questions:

  • How do I change my profile icon? (Answered)
  • How do game submissions work, will there be a submissions page? (Answered)
  • As a newbie would others recommend participating in the jam instead of the compo, even if I’m only available for the weekend and not after it? (Answered)

Despite being new to Ludum Dare I’m not that new to making games. I’ve been doing hobbyist game dev for the last 10-12 years, recently I’ve not done much due to university but I’m getting back into it now! I’m primarily an artist and programmer so audio will be my biggest challenge but I’m willing it to take it on. I also found this post on tumblr to be useful as a new game jammer.

Good luck everyone and I look forward to playing all your games!

For the icon you just click on the area in the top right corner of your screen that has an avatar and sign in with wordpress to change your avatar.

I’m in!

This will be my first Ludum Dare, and I am super excited! Although I am a bit nervous because I am a beginner to programming, but I think this will be a fun way to test my abilities. I plan on using Unity 5 as a game engine. Good luck to all!

Going to make an attempt, again!

I have an ICER paper and a compilers project due right before / during this, but!!!! We’re (probably) in anyways.

(These always fall right before finals for me :( so it’s crunch time which is both good and bad (historically bad, for me)).

Tools:

Libgdx (engine), Superpowered (audio library), Aseprite (art), google docs (writing), SonarX3+DimensionPro (music).

If the theme seems more appropriate for a webby game, I might consider using what I’ve been planning research in:

Elixir+pheonix(web backend), js game engine of choice, maybe even just a UI engine (front end), Google’s Blockly metaprogramming language (for user defined behaviors). It might be easier to make something small in this way, but might be harder to make something really “ludum dare game like” in it. We’ll see!

Target:

Desktop (but I write portable code in libgdx, so maybe android?)

We might do this from home, but if I can get some buzz + friends, maybe we’ll stream from campus (yay expo boards).

Hell yeah!

I’m in, once more.

I will use a familiar set of tools:

Framework: HTML, Javascript, ImpactJS
Text editor: Kate
Graphics: GIMP, Inkscape
Music: Some generator like Autotracker or Abundant music.
SoundFX: Probably a mix or recorded sounds (Miidio app for recording and Audacity for editing) and generated effects (with bfxr or af3sfxr).

I prototyped a tool, in Python, to log some statistics about (included in the base code) how people play my game, so I’ll probably host the final game in AppEngine.

Base code:
https://bitbucket.org/f7f5/ld48-base-code/src

Good luck to everyone!

In, I am. Also wallpaper.

It’s time again :)

  • Language / platform: haXe to .swf
  • Engine: none, save custom boiler-plates
  • IDE: TextMate, TotalTerminal, …
  • Audio: sfxr? code-gen?
  • Graphics: sketches, Photoshop
  • + Pistachios and Opeth

Aiming to get even better results than last time! (#11 mood, #31 gfx, #50 overall) Though that was already quite a success. As always, will try my best to add -real- music into my game … Maybe try a tracker of some sort? Other than that, hoping to research some AI-related stuff before the actual LD. :)

Good luck, everyone!

Doing things a bit differently

As the title says, I’m changing my game up a bit. (Pardon the pun) So far, I’ve made two LD-games using plain Java, and one using libGDX. This time, I’m using Unity. I haven’t used a proper engine like this in years (used GameMaker a few years ago), so this’ll be an interesting new experience. List of the tools I’ll probably use:

  • Engine: Unity 5 Personal Edition
  • Models: Blender
  • Textures: Paint.NET/GIMP
  • Music: LMMS/Sonic Pi/Beepbox (depending on how much time/inspiration I have at the time)
  • Sound effects: Bfxr

Happy Ludum Dareing to everyone, have fun. (Daring?)

I’m in – again

So, i think i will be in again. I was pondering on wether or not, and i thought, what the heck, i’ll do it. Sadly, my Rust skills are not good enough to actually be working with it, so I will again use HTML5/JS with the Impact Engine and the Impact++ library. Writing will be done with SublimeText, drawings with Gimp (i think. Maybe i will grab a month of Photoshop, be we will see).

Have fun and see you at the weekend!
