LD29 April 25–28, 2014

I’m in, for my fourth time!

imin

This will be the fourth time in a row I’m participating in the Ludum Dare. It’s just too much fun to skip! Perhaps some of you recognizes the main characters of my previous entries in the left image. (would be cool, haha) This weekend, I am planning to do something I have never done before.. create a online multiplayer game. It is going to be challenging, but I think I will learn a lot during the process. Good luck to y’all! :)

Platform: Web
Engine: Construct 2
Graphics: Paint (hey! don’t judge me!), Paint Shop Pro

I (we) are in

Hi everyone,
i’m in. And this time i bring some help. Together with a coworker we organized a LD event for our trainees. A Lot of them where interested, so we will be 5-10 people. The plan is to work in smaller teams of 2-4.

We will be using Unity3D, most likely the 2D functions.

On the graphic side i will be using Krita, on some of the machines have Fireworks or Photoshop.

If 3D is needed i will be using Blender.

I’m one of them

IM IN!

Im gonna to be using unity, blender and gimp.

Cya there!

I’m the Opposite of Out!

I’m recovering from the norovirus having eaten undercooked sausage meat. Providing I’m still alive, I’m in! In my arsenal this time around:

  • PlayCanvas (cloud-hosted WebGL game engine)
  • Maya
  • 3DS Max
  • Photoshop
  • BFXR

I’ll be flying solo this time around, so expect a certain level of crapness, particularly on the audio front.

Can’t compose music? Use a music generator then!

Creating sound effects is not that hard (trust me), music is a little bit harder though.

Music must be composed, since it has strict criterias and complex structures.

Fortunately, we are living in the 21st century, when algorithms can do lotsa things, including MUSIC!

If you need help at composing music for LD29, then use Abudant Music, the procedural music composer!

Me Too Thousand!

Every LD I put off because I’m too busy. Well, this weekend I’m even busier than normal: work + my birthday (4/27), my twin boys’ birthday (also 4/27!) and my wife is working all weekend… But I have no common sense at all, so why not pick this LD to join in?!

Stuff I will/might be using:

  • Engine: Unity (Free)
  • Plugins/Libraries: Navmesh 2D, PlayMaker, Ferr2D Terrain, GoogleFu
  • Misc. Software: Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Ableton Live, Git
  • Services: Bitbucket, Google Docs/Sites
  • Key Hardware: Win7 PC (Q6600) & Macbook (i5), Wacom 6×9, Oxygen 49, Launchpad, PV6, Zoom H2 & ST51
  • Drugs: Caffeine, ibuprofen, The Macallan 16yr., THC, 4-PO-DMT

Sporadic casting at http://www.twitch.tv/pilotprecise when I’m working on the PC in my office.

My intention is to ship something (besides the pizza and birthday cakes I’ll be cooking from scratch) with my main weapon to that end being “scope management” and its cousin, “Quality? Wuzzat?”

I’m in. Somehow it’s possible.

This may be the first weekend LD has landed on in years where I might have a bit of time available and I’m really excited about it!!!  I have had the absolute WORST luck regarding timing of LD’s and personal life stuff, but this weekend, it’s just a normal weekend (so far).   I may actually be able to compete!

So, here’s the plan, tools, etc:

  • Make a game.
  • Use Monkey-X for sure (www.monkey-x.com)
  • Fireworks and Pickle Editor for graphics or even Blender as I’ve been practicing low-poly scene creation techniques.
  • SFXR/BFXR for sounds
  • Audacity to tweak the sounds
  • autotracker.py for randomly generated music
  • VLC Media player to convert the music to WAV or something

If I’m going to be using Monkey, I need to declare my Monkey base-code template for ld48:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/184kh1pcpjz38ik/ld48monkeytemplate.txt

This is basically the template I start from whenever I prototype something new in Monkey.

Need a book for Java !

Hi !

I want to learn Java but i don’t know which book i need to buy ?

I Think I’m In!

Technically my second Ludum dare, though my first was a bit of a failure in my opinion, so I don’t think I really count it.

However, since then, I’ve upgraded IDE, and learned one heck of a lot, so I’m hoping to create something quite good!

I’m probably going to participate in classic Ludum Dare, rather than the Jam, for a bit of a challenge.

Things I’ll be using:

  • GM: Studio, with the HTML5 module to save on downloads
  • BFXR for sounds
  • FamiTracker for music, If I get round to it and…
  • MSPaint (The XP version) For graphics. It may be old hat, but I find it good for pixel art.

Though, on the subject of MSPaint, I may have a little side project going on at the moment, as in a paint tool. I’m only doing this as I can’t find a free paint program, similar to MSPaint, that does everything I want it to (Animation, Layers, Transparency and simplicity). When it’s finished, I reckon I’ll release it for free.

It’s My Birthday, I Can Jam If I Want To!

It’s just my luck that the Ludum Dare 29 theme announcement and official start falls on my birthday. It also just so happens that almost all of my birthday guests are game developers. There was really only one logical conclusion to this situation: Ludum Dare birthday party! Since I only have the weekend to work anyway, and since I’d like to do something on my own, I’ll be participating in the competition portion of Ludum Dare. I’ll be using the following tools:

  • Engine/Editor: Unity 2D
  • Language: C#
  • Art: Inkscape, Gimp
  • Sound: Audacity (editing), Anvilforge (midi), BFXR (FX generation), Abundant Music (music generation)

We will be livestreaming my Ludum Dare birthday party on Twitch at:

http://www.twitch.tv/boundergames/profile

I’ll also be tweeting my progress at @Jiymbi and @BounderGames, with retweets of the rest of the party’s participants.

See you on the flipside!

Edit: Adding a link to my personal codebase which I will be using for the jam (includes mostly a few GUI things):

Getting pretty pumped for my second LD. Had a blast last time, looking forward to going again.
On a side note, why is our hashtag LD48 this month? Isn’t this technically Ludum Dare 29?

Of course. I’m a little embarrassed I didn’t realize that initially. Thanks.

I’m inside!

My last LD was LD 23 or 24 I think. because of school. (How do I see my previous entries?) I think I lost the enthusiasm in making games. I had a lot of nice game ideas a long time ago. I wasn’t able to implement them and I think that was the reason I got discouraged in game-making. Now, I’m more experienced so…

It has been a long time since I made a game.

I want to revive that. (Hopefully. Last LD I was unprepared)

Platform: Haxe/Flash!
Engine: TBA! (or not)
Music: LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio)!
Sound: idk!
Graphics: GIMP!
Environment: Sublime Text or MonoDevelop on Crunchbang! with Git!
Timelapse with gLapse!

Thanks :)

I’m in – Power up the deathray!

I’m in!

Same stack as always…

  • Web-based: HTML, Javascript, CSS
  • Maybe PHP if I’m foolish enough to add multiplayer
  • I might borrow some helper/non-game-logic code from my previous games; all code on GitHub
  • Artwork with Pickle and Photoshop
  • Sound in Bfxr (if there’s time)
  • Music in GarageBand on the iPad (if there’s time)
  • Code in Notepad++
  • Testing in Chrome
  • Hosting by HostGator
  • Time lapse with ChronoLapse and YouTube (maybe)
  • Live -blogging on Tumblr / Twitter
  • Musical accompaniment by Pandora

Best of luck to everyone! So Say We All!

C# Neural Network Library

Hey Everyone!

I’m planning to join this Ludum Dare. The 28th is my Birthday, so I may or may not have a “Ludum Dare Birthday Party Weekend” (just like another poster I saw! great minds think alike, eh?) While I’m psyching myself up about it and thinking about all the wonderful possible baseline ideas, I would like to declare a personal library that I have posted to github (quite a while ago) which is a neural network library for C#. It’s a really basic setup and may or may not come in handy. The library itself is well documented (with comments) and was designed to be a simple introduction to Neural Networks. Although my game is going to be in HTML5/Javascript, I was hoping to port the library over during the compo.

https://github.com/SharpCoder/protonet

According to the rules and guidelines, I can use personal libraries as long as I share them. So hopefully someone else finds my code useful :) I don’t know if I’ll need neural networks for this compo, but I do love finding crazy uses for them – so hopefully I can finagle it somehow.

Good luck everyone!

I’m In!

I’ve been enjoying my spring break this year and why not end it with a game jam? I’ve been learning LÖVE this week so I’ll be ready to begin when the theme is released.

Tools

Language: Lua

Engine: LÖVE2D

Text Editor: Sublime Text 2

Graphics: Paint.net

Sound: Bfxr

I wish everyone else competing good luck and have fun!

We are in

Hello!!

We’re really excited to take part in LD29!

Hat Guy was our last team attempt during Ludum Dare 26.

We’re looking to step up our game this time around. We’ll be using the new Unreal 4 engine, which is pretty incredible. For those of you who haven’t checked it out, we encourage it. We’ve been spending the last few weeks digging into the finer points of the engine so that we can be familiar with it this weekend.

Engine: Unreal 4
Music: Acoustica Mixcraft 5
Graphics: Photoshop/Maya

The downside to using Unreal 4 is that it doesn’t currently support exporting to web. Hopefully that doesn’t discourage too many folks from trying our masterpiece.

The members of our team are RARoadkill(me), Fishy49, and we’re adding a graphic designer/modelling Calypdys ! Wooo!

Check out our site and keep up with us:
