LD29 April 25–28, 2014

I might try!

I’m going to try next week, but I might not have enough time. Also i’m new to java and never really made a game before so this is going to be interesting!

  • Language: Java!
  • I going to use  lwjgl and maybe some other library’s
  • OS: Windows 7 x64
  • IDE: IntelliJ
  • Streaming: I might stream a bit but my internet is iffy
  • Music: Porbbly wont have any…..
  • Art: Gimp or paint.NET

We’re in :)

I’m proud to announce, that ArenaFighterz will participate in this jam too.
We learnt from our first jam, and this time we won’t spend our time on rolling out our own game engine 😀

So here’s the deal:

  • Language: Java
  • Framework: LibGDX
  • Music: MilkyTracker && SunVox
  • Graphics: GIMP || Photoshop || Illustrator

I’m in!

Once again, it is time to throw common sense out the window and make something, FAST! :)

As always, I don’t expect to make anything great, but to have a fun time hacking things together and trying a lot of strange games (if they run on Linux, Firefox or Wine).

Fourth Time is a Charm

Entering my fourth Ludum Dare. I somehow managed to create three working games in past LDs (one jam and two compos) and hope to continue my streak of good luck.

Tools:

GameMaker Studio

Photoshop

Ableton Live

Arturua MiniBrute (would love to do ALL the sound effects and music on this – I planned on this last time but didn’t have enough time after I completed the gameplay)

Also going to try using Git with GameMaker for having a version history, rollbacks, experimental branches, etc.

Good luck to everyone and don’t forget to have fun!

The April Ludum Dare events hold a special place in my heart. I’ve got the post-GDC enthusiasm coursing through my veins. All I can think is VIDEO GAMES.

Engine – Unity
Graphics – Photoshop
Music – Logic
Sound Effects – Logic
Modeling – Blender
Project Management – Trello

I want to stress the last item on this list. In the past I’ve always stuck to pen-and-paper todo lists. These work well, but I found myself spending far too much time staring at my list and pondering which item I would try to tackle next.

I find Trello’s scrum-like interface to be infinitely approachable, the perfect tool to keep track of all my ideas/tasks/progress. Most importantly, the act of dragging an item from “to do” into “in progress” has a magical effect. I’ve made the decision, time to execute.

Welp, I’m in again

I’m learning Unity but not skilled enough yet, so I’ll still be using good old Game Maker.

-IDE: Game Maker
-Graphics: ASEprite or Inkscape
-Music: LMMS
-SFX: sfxr
-Ideas: hopefully a good one

May everyone have an awesome LD!

Im in!!!

I’m soooo in. Hope this will be better than last time, where I had a hecka lot of homework :)

I’m using:

  • C++ SDL2 – programming
  • GIMP/PAIN.NET – graphics
  • SFXR – sound effects
  • I think i’ll use FamiTracker if i have time to add music. I’m not that sure that the game will have it because… you know… i’m absolutely HORRIBLE at making music :)

Well, that’s it for now.

I might be in.

I’m going to try next week, but I might not have enough time. Here’s my info anyway:

  • Language: Javascript, HTML5
  • OS: Ubuntu 14.04
  • IDE: Sublime Text 3
  • Streaming: none, because it’s just been a distraction in the past.
  • Music and SFX: LMMS
  • Art: Pickle or Gimp

In for the 2nd time

Really excited to do this all event again. Last time I got a bit overeager and my idea became too much for a weekend task. I am hoping the theme is solid and I can have a completed title this time. :D

Sound: Reason Essentials

Art: TS-6610 and Paint.net / Pixen

Code: GM / libgdx

GL and mostly HF

sc8

I’m all set for my first Ludum Dare!

Was a little nervous I wouldn’t be able to get next weekend off work, but finally found someone to cover me so I can take part! This will be my first LD, so I am super stoked! I don’t expect to score particularly well on my first time round, so I’m setting some realistic goals for myself.

Cross the finish line – I’ve seen quite a few scary stories regarding developers that have not finished their game within the allotted time. I will need to make this a high priority, as I’m renowned for being a slow worker, and I’m working in Java which isn’t exactly the fastest way to program a game imo.
Play that funky music – I’ve made two finished games in the past, both of which have included no sound at all. Creating music from scratch scares me, so learning it will be a challenge. I’m picking software that is completely new to me, and will hopefully be able to create some magical music that I can add to my LD entry.

[My Developer Arsenal]
Programing Language: Java
Development Framework: Libgdx
IDE: Eclipse
Graphics: GIMP
Tilemap Editor: Tiled
Sound Effects: sfxr
Music: LMMS

I’ve got a lot of preparation that I want to do; learning LMMS, learning how to do shaders in Libgdx and learning shortcuts for all my tools to speed up the process. Better get crackin!

SECRET (THAT ISN’T REALLY A SECRET): If you don’t finish for the Compo, keep going! The Jam exists, too. Of course, that isn’t to say you shouldn’t try for the 48, but– it’s an option! Good luck! =)

for sound effects you can use sfxr or bfxr (random sound generators). bfxr is for 8 bit type sounds.

Joining the Ranks!

I’m in as well! During my last LD, I managed to screw myself over due to improper planning, so if I’m to feel proud of my work I need to put more than 2 minutes of thought into what I’m doing.

  • Language – Java
  • IDE – Eclipse
  • Graphics – Paint.NET
  • Sounds / Music – SFXR / Ableton Live 9

I’ll be posting some base code about a day beforehand so I have the option to use it if I so need to, and will just be practicing until the weekend.

Good luck, all!

Val Viridian

Last month, I planned on releasing a game in the Mini LD. The plan was to turn VVVVVV into a “platformer with attitude” from the mid 90’s. I figured that would be a unique take on the theme; it was still a super retro take on a modern game, but aesthetically I figured it would stand out from the rest of the games that would be submitted.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish in time for the actual competition; that being said, I didn’t want to give up on the game! So, here it is, albeit three weeks late.

First time!

Really excited to be entering the jam for the first time. Setting my goal at finishing a game, ideally within the competition requirements.

Engine: MOAI (lua environment, specifically the HTML5 host)

Language: lua

Tools: GIMP, maybe blender, sfxr

Good luck to everyone!

Count Me In LD29

This is my first Ludum Dare. I’m in for the main compo. I’ve entered a few competitions before. They had longer time frames, and code/asset size restrictions though. This is opposite, with a short time frame, and no limit on the game size.

  • Language: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Framework: Phaser, or from scratch, depending on the theme
  • Graphics: Code generated and Photoshop
  • Sound Effects: Bfxr
  • Music: Fruity Loops

My primary goal is to not pass out, not have a nervous breakdown, and submit something that at least vaguely resembles a game at the end.

I Am In!

I am definitely doing Ludum Dare, and this will be my second one (apart from MiniLD’s)!

Here is what I am using:

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse

Libraries: LWJGL, Slick2D

Graphics: Paint.NET, Aseprite

Sound: BFXR

Tags: 29, 2D, game, indie, java, Ludum Dare, Slick, sound

I’M READY FOR THIS

Okay, maybe not just yet, but I finally signed up. I plan on using Game Maker, but I’m going to do something of actual quality instead of most people just making a basic platform engine and calling it done.

GameObject and component management

here is the basecode I will be using for LD48, you can pretty much do whatever you want with it, if anyone actually uses it (or even looks through it), I’d love to hear about it:). You can get in touch with me on twitter if you have any questions, hope everyone has fun:)….bye

-edit: forgot to mention that this runs on top of haxeflixel

First time!

Hi! :) This is my first Ludum Dare! I can’t wait!

My Tools:

Language: Java

IDE: Eclipse

Graphics: Paint.NET

Sound: sfxr and possibly Audacity

Good luck everyone!!! 😀

Lets see what we can make out of this

This is my first Ludum Dare, im fairly new to game development, been only making games for about 6 months. What i hope to achieve for this ludum dare is to develop a game within the time contraints that fits the theme best to my ability. So, all the hard work ive been putting in these past couple months are going to be put to the test and hopefully i wont fall flat on my face.

Heres how im going to make my game:
Language: AS3

Library: Flashpunk

IDE: FlashDevelop

Graphics: Fireworks CS5

Map editor: OGMO

Sound: i have no idea, maybe Soundboard or Bfxr.

Good luck to all, especially those who are new are like.

After a year and a half on my main project, it must be about time to do something short and quick

Right, hopefully for once I can spare a couple of days to try this. This will be my first attempt at Ludum Dare.

I’ll attempt to set up a stream at http://www.twitch.tv/nition1 and upload a timelapse video after the competition’s over.

The expected setup:

Language: C#
Engine: Unity
IDE: Visual Studio
2D: Photoshop
3D: Blender
Audio: Pro Tools
