LD26 April 26–29, 2013

I’m in – to actually make a game

Well, I’m in again – but this time I’m going to try and actually make a game. I’ll be entering the Solo competition, but I may go either with Java or C++.

Language: Java/C++
Libraries: My own engine (see my posting history if you really want to)/SDL 2.0
Graphics: GIMP (if I had more time, I would enter the Jam and ‘recruit’ an artistic friend)
Music: Sibelius/GarageBand (GarageBand had issues exporting last time)
Sound FX: CFXR, the Mac version of SFXR/GarageBand (it works fine for small .wav files)

Good luck, and I hope to see you all there 😛

Joining the jam now!

After passing last time I will jam this time.
The catch for me making this game is I’m going to work with my girlfriend after she told me she wanted to make a game once.
She is a digital publisher trainee so she got some skills in illustrator and vector art.

Language: Haxe/nme
IDE: flashdevelopgraphics: Paint tool sai, illustrator
Animations: Flash professional
Music: Milkytracker and free audio samples

I’m in for the first time!

This is my first Ludum Dare Compo!  Wish me luck!  😀

Main tool:  Engine001 OR Microsoft Small Basic.  I’m not sure yet.  If I use Engine001, I will use the following tools.  If not, I’m using small basic alone.

Art:  Paint.NET

Sound:  as3sfxr  (http://www.superflashbros.net/as3sfxr/)

Oh… and #teampotato

I’m in, hosting an event, and streaming.

Hello World!

I’m in and hosting the real world meet up in Mountain View, California at the Hacker Dojo.  I even plan to stream this time… Maybe, we shall see.

Tools:

  • Audio:  Audacity
  • Graphics: Paint.NET
  • Language/IDE: Java and Eclipse
  • Frameworks:  LibGDX

Even if I haven’t managed to make a game for a single LD yet, I will still try no matter what.  To everyone participating, lets make some games!

Ok im in + Livestream

So the last few times I’ve tried to participate in the Ludum Dare (LD #23 & #24), or last years 7 Day FPS challenge for that matter, real life has done all within its power to derail my plans and force me to withdraw. Well this time come hell or high water im going to finish, (Insert inspirational music here) and to inspire me to continue working regardless of external interference i shall live stream the entire event for your entertainment and my potential ridicule! (End dramatic music)

Well now that I’ve gotten that out of my system we can get down to business. I intend to live stream both my practice in the week leading up to LD#26 and the entire event itself. It is my intention to start streaming no later than 9pm EST (GMT/UTC-4) and I hope to be live for at least 3 hours each night before the event. Come the day of LD#26 I will be live 2 hours before the event starts (8pm EST GMT/UTC-4) playing a game or two to unwind. If there are any changes i will be posting them to twitter so check there for updates.

For development tools i will be using all free and or open source software, most of which is listed here on the Ludum Dare site. Eclipse for code. (Java + LibGDX) Paint.NET for 2D art. (maybe Gimp as well) SFXR for sound effects. Musagi for some simple music.

P.S. ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY POTATO!

Indianapolis Event Maybe?

I’m thinking of hosting an event here in Indianapolis, but I’m not 100% sure if I can trust people as the only place I can host it is in my studio apartment.. If I generate enough interest though, I say I do it anyway. If something goes missing, I will know anyway 😛

I live in a location near Indianapolis, but most likely will not be able to come

I’d love to do it and would generally be in Indy, but this just happens to be the weekend that I’ll be out of town. Perhaps next time?

I have a dream…

The world without potatoes would a happier place :)
And it is a dream worth fighting for!! 😀

Good luck to y’all!

I’m in again

Trying to get a serious entry done this time (depending on the theme).

I might be using Java with libgdx, Wavosaur, Ableton, Sketchbook, Milkshape, Pixexix, SunVox, Paint.Net, GtkRadiant, Graphics Gale.

If I can’t get something serious together I might be doing something for my VIC-20 (using cc65)  or my Genesis (using SGDK)

PS: Please get a fresh fun-theme next time, potato-jokes are outdated.

I’m in!

I am in this time, even though I only have time on Sunday unfortunately, but I’m confident I’ll make a game there! I would love to stream my progress, but my connection is way too slow. I’ll do a time lapse instead!

So, these are the tools I’m going to be using most likely:

  • Programming language: Java
  • Library: Slick2D (Which is pretty much my standard for everything)
  • Graphics: Paint.Net
  • Music: None? I don’t know yet, never created good music by myself…
  • Sound: Bfxr
  • Time lapse: Chronolapse

These things might change on the theme and my actual free time, so I might also be going with a console-only game or Twine – we’ll see!…

Last words for today: NO POTATO!

In

I’m in. Same as last go. Was thinking about something browser based with rails and/or angular, but decided against it.

Language: AS3 using Axel (with FlashBuilder as my IDE)
Graphics: Photoshop
Sounds: As3sfxr
Music: Random music generation tool from googling (probably the one I used last time).

Looking forward to it. :)

I’m in

Well, it’s Ludum Dare time again, which means I’m in, naturally.

My weapons of choice:

  • Language: CoffeeScript
  • IDE: Aptana
  • Framework: My self-made Lyria framework
  • Graphics (2D): GIMP
  • Graphics (3D): Blender
  • Sounds: Garage Band, Audacity, sfxr
  • Other tools: Stylus, Require.js, Node.js, Grunt, Handlebars or Jade templating engine, TexturePacker

I’m hoping for enough time this week-end to actually complete a game, no interruptions and me not getting sucked in by trying to constantly improve my framework. :)

Maybe…

I’ll be away for most of the weekend, rehearsing with an orchestra. I might still try to make something small in the evenings if there is a nice theme.

  • Programming: Haxe with NME (or with my own base code for Flash)
  • Graphics: Tile Studio, Inkscape, PhotoImpact, GIMP (and perhaps my Random Art Evolver?)
  • Sound recording: ZOOM H2 audio recorder
  • Sound editing: Nero Wave Studio
  • Instruments: An entire symphony orchestra to record sound samples from
  • Music: Milky Tracker, NoteWorthy Composer
  • Time Lapse Video: ETL and Virtualdub

potatoNow to prepare I’ll just practice drawing potatoes
