LD25 December 14–17, 2012

Well, here’s my base code

According to the rule, if I wanna use any personal code, it’s should be declared and shared ,right?

here it is : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59758578/LD25_Base_Code.rar

(it’s also on my github )

I didn’t do much special, just collecting some libraries and framework, like flixel, lua-alchemy, tweenlite.

And revising the code of DAME smaples and lua-alchemy samples.

Not sure I will really use these…just in case of failure.

If there is something wrong,  tell me please :p

Thanks!

I made some changed… add a enemy group and misc

Hi all :D

So this is my first LD competition(recently knew this compo by a friend) and, lacking financial resources, im just going to use

> DK : Game Maker 8

> Graphics: MC Paint

> Sounds : FamiTracker

Not that advance, but hey, its something. Good Luck to u all freshmen like yours truly :)

Libraries that can be used

Greetings,

I am new to Ludum Dare and very much excited about it. I was exploring my options of development tools and I have couple of questions. Can we use open source libraries like Cocos2d-HTML5? Or should we write our own code for animations, effects etc.

Thanks.

Yes. From the rules page: “Base code and personal code libraries are allowed, but should be declared and shared with the community prior to beginning your entry. To do this, make a blog post.”

Thanks a lot Folis and Rose! :)

A little support before the contest

I told my girlfriend that I’m going for LD48 again and the theme might be selected as “End of the World” this time. What I got in the evening was this:

There are some nice ideas written in this paper. :) Don’t try to steal them. :)

Also, here’s a picture of my workspace a day before the contest. It’s going to get a little messy afterwards. :)

Good luck on your little games, everyone! :) Have a lot of fun this weekend.

I’m in! From Russia with love

Hi Folks!

I’ll participate the upcoming Ludum Dare, second time (see my first entry). I’m from Russia, so I’ll probably start few hours later than others, but will stay until the end!

This time I’ll most likely to participate in Jam instead of Compo, that will depend on the game theme and my overall progress in first 48 hours. As the rules require, I must post about my toolset, so here it is:

Client: HTML5, CoffeeScript, Playcraft.js, Spine.js

Server: Ruby on Rails 3, Redis

IDE: Sublime Text 2

Graphics: PhotoShop

Audio: SFXR

Follow me on twitter to get the updates.

Let’s enjoy the party!

I’m in!

For second time : I’m in!

Tools:

– IDE: VS2012

– Language: C++

Libs: SFML

GFX: Photoshop/PyxelEdit

– Sound: bfxr, Audacity, guitar + soft (Guitar Rig 5)

No Ludum Dare for me

I am not able to join this Ludum Dare :(

If I have at least 1 hour of time, I will do sort of a Nano-LD entry under the terms of a jam entry.

What I will look like this weekend

I’m In!

This is my second time round, loved the first one so much I’ve been trying to get a Jam team together but not this time sadly so it’ll just be me entering the compo.

Tools

Unity 3D

Paint.NET

SFXR

Blender

And maybe a few others.

I am in

Another person in, and that would be me! This is my first Ludum Dare. I’m looking at doing the competition. I don’t feel completely ready for this but no backing down now! Here are the tools I will be using:

Language: D Programming Language

IDE: MonoDevelop with Mono-D plugin

Libraries: CSFML 2.0 with Derelict3 interface and my own library I created to streamline some things.

Graphics: Aseprite, PyxelEdit

Audio: BFXR for sound effects. I probably won’t add music because I don’t know anything about making music.

Hopefully I’ll be able to complete my goal. Good luck to everyone else!

Good luck! I hope you complete your goal too.

Added Difficulties…

This weekend is pretty manic for me. I’m going to be spending most of Friday/Saturday in Durham with my old uni mates, or on a train there and back, which is going to drastically cut down my time for gamejamming.

But having said that, of *course* I’m going to be making a game for Ludum Dare 25. What do you think I am, sane or something?

So yeah, this time I’ll be trying to pull a half-ludum (or double-ludum?) and make a game in twenty four hours. Wish me luck.

So far, I’ve got a pretty good idea for the End Of The World theme, a turn-based numerical strategy globe-view-camera disaster game in a similar vein to Pandemic or Fate Of The World. Whether you’ll be playing as the oncoming Mayan Hordes seeking to destroy the world, or the forces of humanity trying to save it, I’ve not decided yet.

And the other good news is, I reckon if I try hard enough I can elbow this idea into any of the Construction (constructing defences), You Are The Villain (Mayans), Fortress (constructing defences) or Colonise (Mayans with a different agenda) themes. Night And Day might be a bit trickier, though…

Oh, and I’ll probably be using Unity3D. If I feel particularly Linux-centred, I might use C++/Irrlicht. Or if my Apocalypse Of The Mayans idea doesn’t come to fruition, I may well be working in 2D with Lua/LOVE2D.

Good luck everyone!

I’m in… ^_^

I’m entering Ludum Dare again and this time I’ll finish a game. So far my tools will consist of:

– Java
– Eclipse
– Slick2D

I will most likely stream it on Twitch.tv as well – http://www.twitch.tv/cookiemonsterza

Good luck to everybody and have fun.

I’m (not) In!

Sorry guys :( No new point & click from me this time around – even though I’ve got a whole boat-load full of ideas. I’m going to be too busy flogging MY NEW, COMMERCIAL ADVENTURE GAME AT ADVENTURE X 2012 IN LONDON HOW COOL IS THAT GUYS SERIOUSLY

Yeah, I’ve been working really hard for the last few months on a new adventure game based on the solid foundations laid by subAtomic and Plan M – this one is bigger, longer and funnier by far. And it actually (properly) has full voice acting. It’s called Astroloco: Worst Contact, and I’ll be at the University of East Anglia in London (near Liverpool Street station) all weekend promoting the game and (hopefully) making friends with other adventure developers!

The event is completely free, no tickets required, so please do pop in if you’re in the area and not too busy with Ludum Dare! More info here – http://www.screen7.co.uk/adventurex/.

This is all thanks to you people – everyone and anyone who has participated or is participating in Ludum Dare. You voted me as the funniest person in the Jam twice in a row, and this wouldn’t be happening if it wasn’t for you. I think that’s a good thing, but you can make up your own mind once you see the finished product.

If you want to find out more about Astroloco, and especially if you have a Steam account, click your way over to http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=113074281 and help us get the game onto Steam!

Don’t worry, though. I’m not gone forever, and I haven’t sold out. I love you guys. Provided the next Ludum Dare doesn’t clash horribly with my new, jet-setting, rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, I’ll be in for that one. And properly in. Not just a little bit. I don’t want to end up just making formulaic (but hilarious) adventure games for every LD – I’ve got some ideas to revolutionise the genre that will blow. your. minds.

Watch this space.

I’m In!

Well, I guess this is it, I’m officially doing this (as long as something doesn’t go wrong with my laptop…)! I’m about to strip a copy of my current project down to just the base engine, with the tile collision, graphic drawing, player object, stuff like that (nothing like enemies obviously…). Wish me luck, and happy Ludum Daring! (Also, I’m hoping “You are the Villain” is the theme, ’cause I actually have an idea for that theme that ISN’T a Wario Land knock off. Though I’d probably be able to figure something out with another theme…)

Tools used:

IDE: Eclipse

Language: Java

Engine: Caiman Platformer Base Engine

Graphics: Paint & maybe Pickle

Sound: FL Studio 10 & LPMGv.1.2-B (Edit: Oops, I forgot, I’ll use that one SFX generator, SFXR)

Other Tools: Caiman Engine Level Editor, XSplit

Anything else I need to post here?

Ludum Dare Preshow

Just posting here to say I will be using the Flixel library to make my game this coming weekend. Good luck everyone!

http://flixel.org/

Generic LD25 participation title

I’ll be joining the Jam, as I might need that extra day 😀

I’ll use this as an opportunity to try Unity 4.

3D modeling will be done in Blender.

Merry Ludum Dare everyone
