LD25

My First Ludum Dare.

My game with be built with HTML5. I’ll be using plain JavaScript and CSS. As I am using chrome and have little time, I’ll be focusing on webkit browsers, sorry IE. I plan to stay away from the canvas and try to build the game using the DOM and hardware accelerated CSS. This will be my first game built in JavaScript, so I am not sure what to expect. I won’t be using any external libraries as I am not familiar with any of this nature.

Language: CSS, JavaScript
IDE: Intellij IDEA
Graphics: Photoshop

i plan to use Sprite3D which is the only library I know of that uses DOM/CSS3 w/ hardware.

Game Idea #3 panning out

Since the competition started, I have started 3 games. The first two were utter crap. I guess there is such a thing as lucky number 3 because my third game is somewhat entertaining. Basically you are the villan and have the ability to malform the world. Every level has at least one moving block. This block with go in one direction till it hits an obstacle taller than it, in which case it changes direction. You are trying to lead the blocks to their death in a block of opposing color (red <> blue). Anyways, I’m having a lot of fun with it and think it will make an ok first Ludum Date entry.

I’ve only tested in Chrome so let me know if you experience issues. If you’re on a modern browser it should work fine.

This is one of the more weird games I’ve built. The gameplay wasn’t great so I decided you award the player with silly audio clips. I wonder how you will receive it, I’ll be submitting soon.

I’m in

In my CS graphics course I have to do a school project and the proposal is due tonight. Luckily the timing works perfectly for the Ludum Dare!!!

  • get theme
  • plan game
  • write class proposal
  • build game

I’m going to be using WebGL and am probably going to build art with maths.
