Submitting: Dude, Stop.

Game is finished!

You know who is the real monster?! The one who spoils your favorite TV-series! Or the one, who throw away jar from Nutella while it’s not crystal clear! Or maybe who cuts pizza in squares… And now even you can be that guy! Play this game to be a real Monster!!

Unreleased puzzles

Found some unreleased puzzles for “Dude, Stop”, and decided to share. Can you guess how to solve them to be a monster? (Of course, to understand what to do, you would need to play the game first :) )

Dude, Stop – our first Ludum Dare experience (Post Mortem).

We had only a day to make a game, so we went through very few ideas before finally deciding on the one that was the easiest for us to make and funniest for you to play.

What went right:

  • All of the game was divided into unrelated levels and had scripts that would automate the loading process. That way we could make levels up until the deadline without risking for the game to become unplayable.
  • We already had Unity prepared to work with SVN – that allowed us to work separately on art and code without depending on one another, experiment and send changes back and forth – we knew that any mistake could be reverted and the code would not be lost. That really sped up the development.
  • We communicated. A lot.

What went wrong:

  • While planning, we didn’t really leave time for anything interface-wise, that’s why we lost a couple of hours trying to hastily implement a menu that could not work with the reset of the game. It came out buggy and eventually we dropped it completely.
  • We are not any good at music and sounds, so we ended up with something primitive.
  • Some puzzles were too unclear for the players – the jam ended at 4 AM local time and our gamer friends are mostly asleep at that time hence the limited feedback.

Conclusion:

We still have so many ideas for new puzzles (we only implemented about a fourth of everything we thought of), that it would be bad to abandon this game. Right now, we are going to revamp the menu, animations and update some graphics. When that part is solid – we will keep adding more puzzles until we run out of ideas.

If you really like this game, you should follow us on Twitter (@Patomkin, @MrLevich) so that you will not miss the new build in the near future!

New UI for Dude, Stop.

We decided to work a little more on our entry, and right now we are finishing new UI. Later we are going to add new music, and polish and/or replace old puzzles (we got a lot of feedback about how broken they are, so we are fixing this :) ).

Innovation top.

While our top of Best Games is in the making, we decided to show a couple of games that have some really innovative ideas, but somehow lack user votes. You should definitely check them.

SportsRacer

Hello everyone!

We completely forgot (or were just too tired after LD) to post anything about our submission! So here we are, fixing our small mistake…

Meet SportsRaces!!

Small game that we were making through the whole 3 days and finished right 1 minute before deadline. It’s not perfectly balanced, maybe too short on the content, but it has slick UI animations (maybe we should focus more on the gameplay next time) and has some potential and some replayability! So feel free to check it out right here.

Ludum Dare 37

In One Fell Swoop

Hello there!

Let me introduce you to my LD37 entry: In One Fell Swoop

gj_Header2

It’s a small game with a mechanic similar to a billiard game. I wanted to add more story and more unique levels, but couldn’t find time for that. But I made my own shader (for that floor effect) and those cool “soft walls”, so I’m pretty happy with what I have learned from this LD!

In One Fell Swoop

I hope you all had a great time and learned something new too! :)

Dude, Stop – We are on Steam!

Hello!!

Aeons ago we participated in Ludum Dare 33 (themed “You are the monster”) and in about 14 hours or so we made a small game called “Dude, Stop”. We were late, everything was rushed, it had no menu or UI, no music and just two sounds. Nonetheless, we received a lot of positive feedback and decided to expand the concept a little bit…

And now *drumroll* we’re finally on Steam Store! The dream is coming true!.. Well, coming true soon, since the game is still not finished. It’s actually funny – the initial prototype took 14 hours to make and the full game isn’t complete after one and a half years. It’s all just a pile of puzzles. Glorious, wonderful puzzles!

Anyway, this is just an encouragement for other Ludum Dare participants – don’t be afraid to take your rushed mess of a game and flesh it out into a complete game! The community is really good at showing, whether or not your games are fun, and telling you where the problems are. You guys are awesome.

I love the trailer! Awesome narration. I’m following it. Do you have any idea on pricing yet? I would be interested depending no price to length ratio.

Hey, thank you!

We haven’t decided on the pricing yet. We’re still trying to find the middlepoint between content, length and affordability :)

Leave room for sales every 8 weeks and Summer/Winter/Black Friday. You can’t have very good discounts on those if you start your pricing too low to begin with.

Good job! Let me wishlist that…
