Hi there,
I hope everyone had a blast the last couple of days making their "dream" game, I definitely had a lot of fun and I am looking forward to participating in the upcoming October Jam aswell. I hope in the same team constellation we had this time around.
Sooo, this is the child we bore after 72 hours of sweat, tears and pixels:

Be sure to check it out and give us feedback! I, myself, will be starting to judge entries tonight.
Psst, just between you and me.. leave your game in the comments below and I will set it at the top of my play list!
Soo, a quick rundown of the events that are now past.
As we are in Germany I used a good nights sleep and started refreshed when most of the US colleges where moving into their beds. To my surprise we quickly had workable game ideas. So, it's fair to say the theme didn't suck this time (but it definitely will next time... Pretty sure, this streak can't hold).
A few ideas in and we started a table of the ones we liked best and started voting.

We had a stall, of course we did. After a little bit of a discussion which one would be more manageable (talking scope here, it's a dreaded topic...) we decided on the Hacksaw Ridge game idea, which turned into Medic!. BTW, great movie you should watch it!
Well, then we were of to the races. I started doodling pixel art which I never had before, and @cloud925 and @mwfiae got the ball rolling on implementation details on player interaction. Check out this post for a very Godot-heavy prototype they had in place just after the first day. By that point I was only just finishing up the player character movement animation, talking about a bottle neck... Sorry, not sorry! It was a blast creating art, I had to consult a few of my trusted YouTubers for their almighty tutorials but after a few hours I got into the flow and after 1 1/2 days I finished all animations, player character and soldiers. You never saw a prouder me, and then I realized we still needed environment art... Well, back to the drawing board then.
After the main points where flushed out and most of the artwork done we started to glue stuff togehter and noticed a LOT of bugs, which @cloud925 and @mwfiae tackelt one after the other on the final day. And what was I doing, of course, creating SFX and music. What's a game without a fake gun shot SFX made entirely out of your own clapps... Beware it's annoying as hell.
After all the art was done I went into the engine and wanted to get started creating and designing levels but Godot threw me a curveball. It started behaving weirdly, but only on my machine. After a short while of mumbling obsence words against all of the worlds electronics and the software running on them (yes, I am talking about you Windows, maybe it's time to switch to Linux).
The last 3 hours where like hell, @mwfiae had a internet outage and very important fixes in his local branch on his machine. After about 1 1/2 hours it worked again but we lost precious time which we felt near the deadline, I think I press publish like 30 secs before submission hours was over. But hey, we made it!
