Fragment Division – Stop the Operatives!

Fragment Division - Day 1

Getting towards the end of my first day of development here in the UK. My game is a kind of reverse Splinter Cell, where you place and control cameras and guards to stop a squad of highly-trained special forces operatives from reaching your base. Had a lot of fun getting shadows and detection to work properly – not quite there yet but it’s playable at least!

Tools

  • Unity 4.0 (Pro! Thanks LD!)
  • Logic Pro

FRAGMENT DIVISION. Have had a very fun weekend – it’s really cool to spend a weekend and make something that’s playable and actually (I hope!) fun to play. This is the first game I’ve made, and I found Unity to be a great tool for producing a minimum viable product as quickly as possible and iterating on it over the weekend. Much like any using this approach with any other sort of software development, this gave me a lot of opportunity assess and redraw the game’s direction as I went on.

Take a look and see what you think!

This is Monoboy. It’s a colour-based HTML5 platformer that has you obtain and blend subtractive primaries (blue, yellow, red) to progress through levels.

We had a lot of fun making it, and we’d love to hear your feedback!

A Bigger Fish

A Bigger Fish

Hey everybody! Last weekend, @gavinpinkney, @fenixtao and myself (@jhrrsn) made a game about piloting a sub and exploring alien seas. It’s pretty cool! You should check it out… We’re getting into gear and playing your ace games, let us know how we’ve done and how we could improve! ABF screenshot

ProtoBot

ProtoBot

Hey everyone! This is our fourth Ludum Dare, and the second with my friend & musician Chris (@fenixtao). We made a super video-gamey video game – with high scores and waves of enemies and all that jazz – and this classic foundation allowed us to polish and experiment more easily than in previous jams. We used the concept of ‘entire game on one screen’ to play around with the idea of permanence over the course of a game, and the result was the creation of hazards that persist through the five waves of enemies.

I’m super happy with the result, please check it out and post your high score!

It’s pretty challenging, so props to you if you have the chops to finish it :)

Hey all! We made a few adjustments to ProtoBot over the past week, and we thought we’d share our improvements with y’all, including:

  • PS4 controller support (it’s great, if you’ve got one – use it!)
  • 1UPs (bonus points if you’re doing well, or an extra life if you’re struggling..)
  • UI improvements
  • Fixes & balance changes

Check out our game! It’s a puzzle-platformer where you control a robot exploring the derelict hulk of an ancient spaceship. Use your spotlight to navigate & interact with the environment, but watch your power levels else you’ll be in for a bumpy ride to the floor!
