LD22

It’s a start! Ludum Dare 22 is out the gate!

Alright!  So I’ve got my little jam game going so far.

I think you can see where I am going with it. :)

My entry is done!

I know I haven’t been very active, community-wise this LD, but I have been pretty busy. However, I managed to get something done this time!

I did a jam game last time.  That was fun, but this time I wanted to be in the compo itself.  So I pressed myself hard to finish my game.  And, uh, I didn’t finish it.  But that’s pretty typical for me.

Intent to enter LD24!

Hi!  It’s ChainedLupine here.  I’m ready for this Ludum Dare — as much as I can be.

Unfortunately, I’m sick.  Blargh!  Sick!  I hate it!  But I do intend to finish this LD42.

So let’s get this up front:  I intend to use my typical game development toolkit, which is Flash and Flixel.  Plus some extra crap that I loosely call the “boiledpeanuts” framework.

I’m posting it up here for everyone to look at it or use: ChainedLupine’s boiledpeanuts framework

Sorry it’s such a mess, but I was sort of in a hurry to get everything up up for this Ludum Dare.  I’ve been busy with a move, and then I happened to catch a cold as part of that move.

I hope all of you have a blast!

Signed,

Showing some past-LD pride!

I’ve been meaning to do one of these for a while now.  I don’t have a lot to show unlike some of the really OLD people on here ;), but I am happy with what I’ve managed to accomplish over the last two years I’ve been involved in Ludum Dare.

Some progress, but I’m behind the times.

I fear I’m a bit behind.  But I’m still sick, alas!  So I’m trying to catch up for time I missed yesterday being asleep and sick and stuff.

You can move around and shoot!  Woo!  So that only leaves about a dozen items left. :)

Signed,

Well, won’t be completing LD24 compo.

Alas, I tried!  But I lost a whole day due to sickness, and I wasn’t feeling so hot for the other day, on top of that.

Here’s my game, so far.  I’m going to be entering it in the jam, as I work on adding sfx and music, plus more levels.

The basic idea is that you are a jetpack wearing redneck with a shotgun, whose trailer home is being invaded by space alien kudzu.  The kind that rapidly evolves to resist your weed killers.

It’s quite playable in its current state, though I had to cut some gameplay mechanics along the way.

If you want to give it a shot as it stands, I’ve uploaded it here.

I drewed a goat!

Why a goat?

Because goats won, by one point!

ONE.  POINT.

Oh yeah:

Maybe enter, maybe not, we shall see!

This isn’t exactly an “I’m in” post so much as a declaration of what I would be using, if I did decide to enter.

First, my standard platform of Flash.  I’ll be using Starling framework (with Nape physics) this time though, instead of my time-honored Flixel.  Just to do something different. :)

Here would be my “basis” code, mostly just a demo project I worked up to test out Starling/Nape/etc.  http://bitbucket.org/chainedlupine/unicycle-platformer-thing

For graphics, I’ll either be using Photoshop (back to it, from GIMP!) or ASEprite.  Sound will be my typical Audacity and LMMS combo.

You can find the source code of my last Ludum Dare entry right here.

So yeah, didn’t have time this weekend to whip up a serious LD entry, so I decided to spend a few hours and whip up something.  And so this is the result.

I did draw the goat image for the full game, that I recycled for the title screen.  G.O.A.T. stands for “Goal of Absolute Terror”, in case you wonder.  Or maybe that’s “Goat of Absolute Terror.”

I’m baaaaaaaaack!

Hey!  It’s been, a while.  A looooong while.  Ugh!  Wow, has it really been three years since I’ve entered an LD?  Gosh.

Well let’s see if I still got the old weekend game-making magic.  I’m going to enter once more!

I’ll probably do a jam game with a friend who has been wanting to work on a game, so this should be a lot of fun.

I’ll post more once I have the specifics.  We’re doing store runs for the usual Ludum Dare survival needs (food, snacks, beer, more food, beer, beer, and more beer), so we will be back.

LD35

Oh May Ghai! I’m doing Ludum Dare #35!

Hello all of my LD peeps!  I’m here to announce that I will be entering LD #35.

This will be my tenth attempt at Ludum Dare.  I hope I succeed in gaming a game, unlike my last attempt.

I started a game engine with Ludum Dare #34.  It’s a simple Javascript/HTML5 system utilizing PIXI for rendering backend, so it can handle for Canvas or WebGL.

I also write a simple vector 3D rendering system with this engine, but I never completed a game for it in time for the compo/jam.  If you want to see the write-up I did about how I created the engine, you can view it on my website.

Tools of my trade:

  • Custom Javascript/WebGL/Canvas game engine called Smoking Mirror.  You can find the demos here or the source code here.
  • Inkscape for vector (if I do vector).
  • Photoshop for art manipulation.
  • Aesprite for pixel art and animation (if I do pixel art).
  • Audacity for basic audio editing.

Awesome art!!! I love it! Good luck

Oh no!

Well, a progress report on day two.

I’m not doing so hot.  My Smoking Mirror engine is still too incomplete.  I wanted to make a physics game with a physics engine I had no experience with, and I wasted a lot of time trying to make that work.

Moving on to the plan B.  To give an idea of what it will involve:

LD36

Luuuuudum Daaaare!

Yeah!

Let’s do this!

All pumped for LD #36!

This will be my 11th Ludum Dare!  You can find my prior entries here.

What will my tools of the trade be?  Probably the usual of Photoshop for 2D compositing/editing, Aseprite for 2D pixeling, and Blender for 3D.

Let me shill Aesprite for a moment.  If you are not familiar with it, and you like to do pixel art, then I recommend checking it out!

Check it out:
