LD30

I’m in!

This will be my first jam/competition I have ever entered.

Language: C#
Engine: Unity3D
Graphics: Corel PaintShop Pro x6, MS Paint, Blender, Pickle
Sound Effects: Bfxr, Audacity
Music: Not sure yet. (Hydrogen maybe)

I will be streaming on twitch.tv (first time for that as well) the coding and game progress. http://www.twitch.tv/lorddraficus

I will also be updating a Git repository with all of my games code/resources every so often (for those who wish to see how bad my coding is). https://bitbucket.org/atsmith/ludum-dare-30/overview

Good luck everyone!

No idea if I’ll be doing it. Probably not :(

Playlist

Any last minute music requests for my soon-to-be-streaming stream?

The horror!

So, my idea for Connected Worlds was something along the lines of overlapping universes.  I have two universes, Black Universe and White Universe (names will probably be changed nearer the end).  You can switch between either of them at any time, but you will need to have them work together in order to solve the puzzles and make it to the next level.  There will be dangers.

Anyways, I was programming, and I ran into my first bug! Oh noes!  It renders out of order :'(

BugWhat it was supposed to be, was one platform (the black one in this case) was completely solid (i.e. alpha value of 1) meaning that you are currently in the Black Universe.  The other, semi-transparent to signify that you are not in that universe.  But it seems the ground is getting a higher rendering priority!  A fix shall be found sometime!

In the meantime, I have just updated my git repository with up-to-date code.  Feel free to see how terrible my code is: https://bitbucket.org/atsmith/ludum-dare-30/overview

Update

Finished the majority of the simple mechanics that my game will have, and so I have started working on the tutorial levels.  I still have a few more (a little more complex) mechanics to implement, but here’s the first tutorial for movement:

Just move forward and you are done!

Just move forward and you are done!

It doesn’t look like much, I know, but I’m having fun.  I’m still trying to decide if I want to have text in the tutorials, or if I want the player to have to learn like we did in Mega Man X for the SNES (by dying a lot)…

As always, the Git repository for this can be accessed (and forked if you want) https://bitbucket.org/atsmith/ludum-dare-30/overview

And I am still streaming on http://www.twitch.tv/lorddraficus/

Getting Close

I know it’s getting close to submission time.  I am still working on adding levels, though, I have a basic playable build with one level uploaded and ready for playing.  It is available for Linux (32-bit + 64-bit), Windows (32-bit + 64-bit) and OSX (universal).

The download is unfortunately a single zip file containing other zip files, but it can be downloaded from here: Two Worlds (Not final version)

There are a couple of bugs that I still haven’t gotten figured out yet either, but they are not game-breaking.

Let me know what you think!  I’ll be uploading the submission version after I get one (maybe two) more level(s) added.

Two Worlds

Update: Windows 64-bit, OSX and Linux ports uploaded.

Beginning The Game! Oh joy!

Beginning The Game!
Oh joy!

I tried to make the game a puzzle-platformer, but I think it turned more into a platformer than that.  Either way, enjoy my 48-hours work to create a game with no storyline!  It turned out to be a very simple game, though a lot more can be added to it really easily.

I’m in(Jam)

this is my first attempt at the Lundum dare main jam, I have some past game jam experience and I am really looking forward to taking part in the big one.

Right onto the tools:

Code: c++ and maybe some javascript or lua (if I have scripting interface up and running by the jam)

Engine: in-house SFML2 based engine

Graphics: Paint.net,SFML2

Sound: Audacity,SFML2

IDE: CodeBlocks

OS:windows

generally my idea was to keep the work pipeline lightweight and open so that when necessary I can move my work between machines and not fiddle with licensing, that and my skills outside of code and design are limited so complex tools are not really that helpful at this point.

Welcome to Lundum dare, the funny nosed foreign cousin of Ludum Dare

I’m In

Hi all,

This will be my second Ludum Dare (my first was LD30), so I’m super excited!  This time, though, my main goal is to learn, my secondary goal is to have something qualified as a game.

I used the Unity game engine last time, but this time I want to try doing it all from C (with a couple of open-source libraries).  My initial code-base can be downloaded from here. I am planning to enter the compo, though I may extend that to the jam if I feel I need to.

Language: C
Text Editor: Emacs
IDE: Visual Studio 2013 CE
Map Editor: Tiled
Graphics: Corel Paintshop Pro x6 Ultimate and good ol’ MS Paint
Audio: TBD (Maybe none at all, like last time)
Open-Source Libraries: PhysicsFS, SDL2, SDL2_ttf, SDL2_mixer, Yxml, stb_image

Like the first time, I am expecting my skill with art to produce horrible graphics…

Update: My code repository can be viewed here.

LD33

We’re in!

Hello everyone!

Last time I went solo I wasn’t able to finish in time, but I’m back for this one with some of my friends!

I will be using (I don’t know what tools they will use):

Engine: Unity 5

Editor: Visual Studio 2013 CE

Image Editor: Corel Paintshop Pro x6 Ultimate, MS Paint

Those are the tools that I will use.  My friends will use other tools to do the art (probably Photoshop) and music/sfx.

We have our git repository here.
