LD 41 April 20–23, 2018

Excited for LD41

I'm amped for LD41 and I'll be joining the fray.

I have a few ideas for technologies/languages to use but I think I'll leave the actual decision making for when the theme gets announced. Definitely going to be streaming the process, too, (shitty Australian internet be damned!)

If I do graphics, I'll use Photoshop. If I do sound, I'll use Logic X. Aside from that, who the hell knows what will get thrown into the mix.

Eager to see what wonders the LD community generate this time around!

I'm in!

This will be my 6th Ludum Dare. I'll be doing the jam solo using GameMaker: Studio, Aseprite, GIMP and ChipTone.

Good luck everyone!

I will be using the libraries I created for Java, Gimp, Krita, and Blender(if I do 3D)

My Team's Entries in a Ludum Dare Banner

I like to make logos/banners for AAGH Games entries into Ludum Dare, and for the last two we've entered (Ludum Dare 39 and the upcoming one) I made the logo using our pictures of our entries to date in the words "Ludum Dare" plus the number. Here's the one I made for Ludum Dare 41, for example.

LD41 - Title with Games.jpg

I like the way it turned out, and it works well because we've entered 10 Ludum dares prior to this, making this our 11th. That means it fits cleanly into the logo.

How I'm going to handle this as our logo for Ludum Dare 43 this winter, though, is anyone's guess. 😄

It's Good to be Back

I'm looking forward to jamming with and against all of you.

I hope we all have a great time!

I'm In!!!

This will be my 5th year participating in a row :D I will be using Audacity, MS Paint, Java, Eclipse, and my keyboard Best of luck to all!

"First time caller, long time listener"

Hey everyone! I've been following Ludum Dare for years being impressed by all the different entries for each event and have always wanted to participate myself. Every time LD came around I'd always find an excuse not to do it or something would come up, but this year I've taken time off work and I'm more pumped than ever to do it. I use to do game programming for fun with xna/monogame, but I just recently learned Unity and plan to try using it for LD41 (hoping I retained what I learned).

Tools I'm likely to use: - Unity - GIMP - FL Studio - Audacity

Can't wait to do my first LD and see what everyone brings to the table this time! Goodluck everyone!

im in

ive never done ludum dare and ive only just downloaded blender and unity so im a total noob in every sense of the word so i hope i make a decent game

I'm In

This is going to be my first time participating! I hope i will be able to finish the game.

Tentatively In

This will be my 3rd LD. Would be my 4th but got really ill at the very start of the last one. Looking forward to this time as it will be right after the busy season at my job so I might be able to take a day off to get more planning done. Hoping to do something with dice this time as I've been teaching a coworker some basic programming and I think it would be fun to do something simple.

Will be using:
Phlip's JS Library (bare bones HTML Canvas Drawer)
Sublime Text
Chrome
Paint.net
Gimp
Audacity
Probably Beepbox.co but not sure on music

I'm in!

This will be my second LD, I will be using Game Maker Studios, Audacity(maybe), and Photoshop(maybe)

We're in!

We (@klintwood an me) are two computer games students and this will be our first LD. We will use the Godot Engine for our game.

I'm in

Back again for my 3rd attempt. Did not finish my second attempt, so I hope to redeem myself with a better effort this time!

Will be doing the Compo, tools will probably be Unity, Blender, Krita and LMMS.

An Almost Certain Impending Failure

I am a terrible programmer. The only thing worse than my coding is my art. And I have no idea how to make sounds or music for my games.

This will be only my second Ludum Dare and my first one by myself. And my last game jam was LD26, almost half a decade ago. I'm going to try to hack together something with LibGDX and GIMP. The end result is guaranteed to be terrible.

But it's going to be an amazing weekend.

T minus 20 days

Only 20 days left to LD41 and I am starting to get super excited :) Part of me wishes LD ran more often but it's probably the perfect frequency with 3 per year to build up energy, motivation, and excitement. My personal goal for LD41 will be to TRY to focus more on original game design. In the past I have fell more into clones with a twist and I really want to come up with something more original this time. We'll see how that goes =)

This will be my 6th consecutive compo event and my previous entries from LD36 > LD40 have been:

LD 40 - ROBBY & COPPY ludum-dare-40.jpg

LD 39 - ROBOT POWER ludum-dare-39.jpg

LD 38 - PLANETARY REMAINS ludum-dare-38.jpg

LD 37 - SPACE JUNK ludum-dare-37.jpg

LD 36 - ANCIENT TECH TO RETURN ludum-dare-36.jpg

A few tips for those of you who are about to enter your first LD, a couple of days prior to the event: * Ensure your game engine and software is running well (no required updates pending) * Avoid software updates that can introduce bugs or change features so you are not familiar with things * Spend some time in the software/tools you intend to use - I do prototyping in Unity and model/skinning/animating in Blender for 4-5 days before LD starts to keep the tools and workflow fresh in my mind * Consider implementing stuff like game states and menu screens fairly early because if you leave it to last minute it is likely to introduce game breaking bugs or push you past the deadline.

Third time's the charm

Hello everyone! :D

Ludum Dare 41 will be my third time I'm participating (in a row, also). Last Ludum Dare was kind of a mess for me since I had to go for the jam because I found stupid game breaking bugs. Hopefully this time everything goes smoothly (more or less).

Here are some of the tools I'll be using (basically the same as the last time):

  • Unity 2017.4.0f1
  • Photoshop
  • Milton for sketches and brainstorming
  • Sublime Text
  • Visual Studio 2017
  • Blender if I decide for 3D (probably won't happen)
  • Bosca Ceoil
  • FL Studio
  • BFXR
  • GitHub
  • Deezer for lots and lots of music

I'll record everything with OBS as I did the previous 2 times and gonna patch it all up with Premiere.

And here's a simple wallpaper (as I made one for the last 2 times also): https://i.imgur.com/C4BMFYl.png LudumDare41.png
