LD33 August 21–24, 2015

Lets do this

I’m in for Ludum dare number 33, can’t wait!

Hopefully in for this one?

Hello all,

I’m hoping I’ll have time for this one, but I’ll know nearer the time.

Does anyone know if ludumdare.com will link to livecoding.tv streams? That is probably where I’ll stream from.

Haven’t done ludum dare for a while now, so I’m not even sure what tools I’ll use, most seem pretty comfortable with Game Maker Studio, so I think I’ll go with that…

I’m in for this!

Well its my first time trying a jam so why not go with the big one, LD33 here I come. Heres what I’m most likely gonna be using:

Engine: Unity 3D

Audio: Audacity/BFXR

Graphics: Paint.net/GIMP

Any Jam teams need a music/sound/gameplay designer?

I’ve been doing LD solo for a while now, but I feel like maybe I should try joining a team instead this time around.  If I can find a good team to join that needs someone for music, sound, and gameplay, I’d like to do so.  Otherwise, I’ll just go solo again.

I should probably add that I have Unity Pro, in case that helps.

Back in action for LD33!

It’s been a while but im back for LD33! My last Ludum Dare was LD31 and though it went alright, it wasn’t my favorite theme, I felt it was kind of restricting.

For this game ill be using Unity and all my image editing things as well as HOPEFULLY LMMS for music assuming I learn how to use it (Music has not been my strong suit in the past, in fact only 1 game has had music and it was added post compo)

If you’re interested in following my project, I’ll be streaming it on my Twitch and posting builds and Screenshots on Twitter as well as on my Facebook page

BRING IT ON LD33!!

I’m in… And I bring tutorials.

So first and for most I’m in for LudumDare 33.

I’ve actually lost count of how many I’ve been in, I think it’s like 6 or 7 now.

So this time my weapons of choice are:

  • Unity3D.
  • Not sure on music yet.
  • Blender.
  • Affinity Photo, and Affinity Designer.
  • Bsfxr.

Also for those of you who are interested in having an in-game Level Editor in their LD game I have a set of tutorials for that over at http://moongate-uk.co.uk/the-tutorials/ they are still in progress and mainly for those who use Unity3d but I hope those who don’t use it can get something from it.

I’m in for my fifth time!

Hello again, fellow Ludum Dare participants!

I’m in again! My previous Ludum Dare entries were lacking a lot of depth and complexity. This time, Il’ll try making them slightly more complex. I also took some time to familiarize myself with Unity even more, so that should help quite a bit.

Tools

»Engine : Unity

»3rd party libraries : probably A* Pathfinding by Aron Granberg (http://arongranberg.com/astar/)

»Art : Photoshop CS5

»Music : Abundant Music or Audiotool, if they release an HTML5 version before LD33 (#OccupyFlash!)

»Sound effects : Possibly SFXR or BFXR

»Planning : Pen, paper and possibly Trello. Probably also Evernote.

Good luck to everyone!

One for all, all for one?

I looked into the tools page and I discovered quite a few things that would assist a game developer, however I was wondering where is the line drawn when it comes to programming? As someone who is interested in this (quite a lot actually) I know for a fact 3 weeks is not enough time to learn any language to make a game. On the other hand, I have been playing around with Scratch for about 2 years now, and I have made quite a few games like that. Styncyl, seems to have a similar style, although I feel much more comfortable using something I already know. In scratch I realize I will not be able to publish it as my own work because it’s using someone else’s program, and there are many restrictions about making games off of scratch and using it for personal use. However it is something I want to attempt and I was wondering if Scratch is a viable option in the upcoming Dare.

I’m not 200% sure, but I am fairly certain that Scratch is okay to use, as I have seen a few Scratch submissions and I don’t think anything happened to them, but honestly, don’t quote me on this!

you can definitely use Scratch to make Ludum Dare games! There’s even a tool somewhere that publishes your scratch game into a standalone executable somewhere… I’ll let you Google for that yourself. Definitely go for using what you’re familiar with rather than a new tool for your first time (assuming this is your first time)

The Jump from Scratch to Stencyl isn’t really hard.

If you want accept the challenge, then your reward would be alot moer freedom.

I’m in… finally!

I thought about it for a while and always had a different excuse to not take part, but now I’m finally in the next Ludum Dare.

My tools of choice will be:

  • Unity
  • Photoshop
  • Blender
  • …what ever else I may need!

Looking forward to sleeping even less than usual!

I’m in – my rookie Ludum Dare!

  • Language: Java
  • Engine: My custom engine (2D)
  • Art: paint.net

Good luck everyone!

I‘m in! Can’t believe I can take part in Ludum Dare one day

OK, deep breath, I’m in! Finally!

What’s more this time we have gotten a event here in Beijing! My city! How lucky! I’m sure I will be there instead of developing at home.

I was always playing other people’s LD games, just a few months ago I have never dreamed that one day I will be able to develop my own game or take part in a game jam. But now I’m here, how exciting! I’ve told a lot of friends this good news tonight and translated the messages and booked tickets for them, we are all in!

I’d like to meet more friends during this event! Here I will list my tools just like others did:

  • Language: C#
  • Engine: Unity
  • Art: Photoshop+Wacom
  • Music and Sound Effects: not sure yet
 Good luck everyone!

I’m in! This’ll be my first one. It will be fun and awesome…

Would you be okay with Unity instead? I am fairly certain they are similar, and I wouldn’t mind doing all of the coding.

Hello man ! Actually I don’t know if I’m gonna choose the compo or the jam ! What kind of thing can you do with Unity ?!

hello my name is ehiosu I saw your post and I’m also looking to team up with someone please reply if you also feel the same, I have a killer idea which is guaranteed to sell.

Just a reminder (and some shameless advertising)

Those looking for teams for any kind of game can subscribe to reddit.com/r/gameteam and make a post there. It’s a small community but is growing, and I hope I can make it a great place to collaborate on games. Good luck to everyone!

I’m In!!! :D….. Maybe?

This is the first Ludum Dare that I will not definitely be able to compete in.

I am on holiday that week, and it is the only week the rest of my family could make which is why I am not at home during that weekend. I am hoping to participate but I don’t know whether I will be able. It all comes down to how good the internet connection is at the hotel in Italy.

Tools:

  • Photoshop CS6: for my bad graphics
  • Eclipse: for Java code
  • LWJGL: in case I decide to make a 3D game
  • openGL: If I use LWJGL I will be making a 3D game with modern OpenGL.

Hope Everyone has a great time :D!!!!!

Ludum Dare Voting, IRC channel.

So some of you who hang out on the #ludumdare channel often may know that during LD32 I made a little channel where people can vote together. It’s ran through a bot that counts up everyone’s votes and then votes. It’s a little silly because it only counts as one vote, but it is still cool and a fair few of you had some fun last time.

I’m making the simple script publicly available so anyone can run it. I’m hoping that if someone is interested in it they will keep it running and a few of you can have a bit of fun. The script is a bot ran through node js, you will need a few libraries, as well as python, to get it running. Look at the docs for the individual libraries for help.

Here is the script: https://gist.github.com/Mixerman123/9f5fe0cb20d3683fffcd

Have fun!

im in!

i am going to make a game for ludum dare!
tools:

unity

paint.net

blender

I’m most likely in!

I’ve considered in the past, but I was either too busy or didn’t feel like I had enough tools or experience for the job. But this LD seems like the time for me to go yolo and solo and do the best that I can! (Provided that no interruptions happen)

My tools for the job:

  • Language: C#
  • Game Engine: Unity
  • Art Assets: GraphicsGale/ Photoshop/ Paint.net
  • Sounds: bfxr
  • Any other tools I think necessary

Good luck to everyone and may your dares be in your favor!

A post about I’m in…

I’m in.

Hopefully finish more than I did last time.  I had fun learning how to animate during LD32, but I failed on the game end.
