Hi First time doing this, I am really stressed out and inexperienced but I'll try to do my best!
Despite being stressed out I actually am really hyped about this!
Love!
Alright, no turning back now! :3c
So, first of all, let's start talking setup and schedule, shall we? :p I'm using: Godot Engine, Piskel, Tilesetter, Bfxr/Sfxr and maybe other softwares depending on how things go
My schedule is: 3AM - 8AM Coding and all, 8AM - 12PM Sleep, 12PM - 1PM Eat dress up get ready, 1PM - 3PM Back to work, 3PM Small devlog? then coding until 7:30PM, 7:30PM - 9PM: Shower and dinner, 9PM - 8AM Work! And repeat uwu
Now, for the theme: not what I hoped for, but not what I dreaded to have uwu
I'm picturing some kind of game where the goal would be to keep a creature alive (duh), either an escort mission in a platformer game, or a game a la Lemming or a la Mario VS Donkey Kong (probably the latter)
Not the most original ideas, but considering it's my first time here, I'll keep it simple uwu

Listening to: Lofi hip hop music - beats to relax/study to
Current mood: Hyped
Love!

I am a bit ahead of schedule, so naptime it is! :3
But before that, here is a small update on what I'm doing:
I decided to go for a "Mario VS Donkey Kong 2 and later" style of game: basically you can only interact with the world by clicking etc. with your mouse and your goal is to keep a character alive I don't know yet if I'm going to make like a single level or multiple levels or an "infinite runner" kind of game though
Anyhow, here's what's been done so far: - Player-wise: - Sprites - Movements & Collisions - Sound effects - World-wise: - Tileset
(Not using the orange outlines)

IDLE Animation

RUN Animation

Deconstructed tileset

Good afternoon my dear friends! Here is my 3PM report update!

I have: improved the tileset, made a custom cursor, added a camera, added some ZZZ effects, made an icon
Here you can have a try! https://sheinxy.itch.io/sleepwalker
Controls: - Left click on character: Jump (There's a double jump) - Right click on character: Move/Stop - F: Switch camera mode - E: Re-center camera (in free camera mode) - WASD/ZQSD/Up Left Down Right: Move camera (in free camera mode)
Listening to: Knight of the Wind - Crush40
Current Mood: Proud

Good evening dears! I hope you're all havin a great time!
I've overslept this morning, but worry not, as I still managed to do a lot! I've: - Added keys and keyholes - Finished designing the level - Made a hard version of said lever
I still have to do a title screen and maybe some other thingies if I have enough time uwu

Good morning my dear friendos!
This will certainly be my last devlog, as I have added everything I wanted to this game!
Here is the Ludum Dare page: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/sleepwalker
Tomorrow I plan on trying out what you guys made, I'm excited about this uwu
For now, I wanted to make some kind of "nostagia trip", a retrospective of these 2 days (yeah I thought it would have been funny)
Here's how the game's changed in only two days:
The origin of the world
And the first collisions
Let there be movements
And let there be textures and light
As a god, you should be able to look around
Spikes are scary
Moving platform, moving anywhere you want
Red vs Blue
The key master
Try not having to use them
A title screen
Yes, but better
Background improvements
The end
And for fun, here's some miscellanous thingies:
My small setup, I spent about two days sitting here, my neck hurts uwu'
Finding an idea was easier than I thought, I got relaxed pretty quick
Level designing was new for me

(Here is the proof that you can finish this game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDwJCn69FyA)
To end this, some words about how I experienced this first Ludum Dare: It was awesome, I've never felt so productive and happy before! :3 I hope I'll be able to be part of another one! :3
Listening to: Two Time
Current mood: Proud!
Love!

Wow, it's been more than a week now since this Ludum Dare has ended! Time flies as they say!
I wanted to write this post to thank you all, especially these who rated and commented on my game! (90 ratings, I'm so >//<) It's been an honour to receive all of this feedback!
At the time I am writing this, I have tried out 81 games, and as the following chart indicates, these were amazing (congrats to you all!)
Here are some of my favorites, in no specific order: - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/the-negotiator - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/destructive-reconstruction - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/gooperworm - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/keep-me-breathing - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/big-buddy - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/the-lizard-in-the-owls-nest - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/the-protective-samuraii - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/planet-guardian - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/beat-sturgeon - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/sisters-lighthouse - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/feed-the-panda - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/filicide - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/ecorobotical - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/alive-1 - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/unended - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/save-the-president - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/archimagus - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/shadoweight-a-moguel-tale - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/heading-north - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/last-lantern - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/fleur-defense - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/leader-keep-them-alive - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/cat-dad-redemption
I don't plan on trying out many more games (sadly), as I have other duties (i-e school [fun fact: I have learned today that I was accepted in the university I applied for :D]) uwu'
I also wanted to do a small advertisement toward my social networks, especially youtube and twitter, as I plan to make a smol video describing my experience with this first Ludum dare for me uwu (sorry for this, I don't really like making ads): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsDms14VI1jZssfZFMheU2w https://twitter.com/Sheinxy
Love! I hope to participate in another Ludum Dare!

The results are here!
I am not going to write a big post here, as I already wrote a twitter thread about this here: https://twitter.com/Sheinxy/status/1260358536044908547?s=20
Anyways!
Love!

I had so much fun doing that last year that I can't help but want to participate this year as well! I'm pretty busy with schoolwork but I think if I plan things correctly I should be able to do something this year!
Some questions are still lingering in my mind though. I don't know if I will go alone or in a team, Compo or Jam, etc etc. (I will probably go for the jam and in a team because my boyfriend wanted to do musics for what I would do uwu)
Anyways! I wish everyone here good luck for next week, I'm hyped up!
Love!

It's jam time! First of all, good luck to everyone else participating in this, let's all have fun!
Maybe I should introduce myself a little bit before: My name is Sheinxy, I'm a silly IT student who decided to come back for this jam! This is my second time participating here (the first one being a year ago) I'm working with Godot, Piskel and BFXR, and this time around I am not alone as my (lovely) boyfriend wanted to participate too by doing musics for me Unlike last year when I had a lot of free time (due to obvious reasons) this year's jam is going to be a little harder for me, schoolwork and responsibilities come first and they are not going to make it easy working on a game, so I guess this is going to be quite a hustle, but a good one! It's probably going to feel more like a 24h game jam :d
Now, now, let us see. The theme is Deeper and Deeper, quite a good theme, I like it! The first thing that came to my mind when seeing that theme was the game Spelunky, but I don't think I'm going to go in that direction. Unlike last year I don't have much to work with, only my small macbook, limited time and resources (but a great musician on board, so not everything is bad :3) Due to that, I will have to aim for a smaller game compared to last year, but I'll make up for it by aiming for a really good one! I'm quite fine with working with limitations anyways, I think limitations push towards turning your thinking around, thus breeding creativity!
Anyhow, I am now given a choice to either sleep right now and start working early, or start working now and wake up quite late, I'll probably do a mix of these two options I haven't found what I will do yet, but I'll think about something great!
On that note, the game is afoot!

Mandatory progress report!
I have managed to work on the game for a consecutive total of 9 hours so far, and I have managed to implement all of the game's core mechanics and visual art! Basically, the only things left for me to do are making some levels, sounds and waiting for my boyfriend to make the music :3
But maybe I should tell you about what I'm doing! At first, I though of doing something related to caves, mining etc. But I didn't go for it because it felt too "obvious" :d, Then came to my mind the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, in which you have to go deeper and deeper inside mystery dungeons, this was the spark I needed to find what I was going to do!
My game is called "A cat in the aliens' lair", and you, as a small but brave kitten, has to infiltrate an alien home base in order to save Earth. You have to go deeper and deeper inside their lair in order to stop their evil plans!
I thought that could be a different yet original take on the theme, so here it is!

The game is already playable (albeit in a very early state) here https://sheinxy.itch.io/a-cat-in-the-aliens-lair
Don't hesitate giving me any kind of feedback (I need that greatly!)
Anyhow, I'm going to get some rest now!
The game is still afoot!

Two days in already! Just one more to go!
Well, to be frank, even though we're 48 hours in, I have only worked for about 14 and a half hours, but I still managed to make good progress! (Hey, I would even say that I'm quite close to having a finished product!)

Basically, all there's left for me to do is: - Having a start and an end screen (+ credits) - Having a pause button (easy) - Having musics (I'm waiting for my boyfriend to finish them, he's got some pretty good things so far uwu) - Playtesting (That is your job! I'm counting on you all :blue_heart:)
In the mean time, game's still playable here: https://sheinxy.itch.io/a-cat-in-the-aliens-lair Don't forget to give it a shot if you can!
Here are some screenshots:

Anyway, goodnight to you all!
The game is still afoot!

I'm almost done!

All I need now is to wait for my personal musician (:3c) to be done with musics, and then I can implement them in game!
In the meantime, you can still try the game here https://sheinxy.itch.io/a-cat-in-the-aliens-lair !
Feedback is welcomed!
The game is still afoot!

While waiting for the music, I have made a small (and crude) trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2W9Yv3LlKN0
The game is still afoot!

Welp, this was fun!
I don't have much to say to be honest, I didn't get as involved as I was last year due to the fact that I had schoolwork to do at the same time, but I still managed to do something I am quite proud of!
Here is the game!
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/a-cat-in-the-aliens-lair
I hope you have tons of fun playing it!
The game is no longer afoot! :3c
