Howdy, all. I’m super-stoked to participate in my first Ludum Dare this weekend! Obligatory tools list:

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go and acquire a whiteboard.

Cheers,

Nick

Maybe Next Time

So, I was way over-ambitious with my Ludum Dare entry and, even after a few revisions, decided there was no way I’d have a game that would fit the competition’s theme by tonight’s deadline. I had loads of fun this weekend getting to the point that I did, and learned a ton in the process. Anyway, rather than let what I did accomplish this weekend go to waste, I figured I’d throw it up on my website so that you fine folks can give it a go. I’m very much looking forward to trying again in four months!

We’re in

This is late.

All: Myself and two other team members will be are participating in LD 24. We’re going to create an HTML5/JavaScript game using Crafty and we hope everyone likes it. As a secondary goal, we hope hope we finish it. Really we’ll settle for like, half-way finishing it. Progress updates to come (maybe).

The Perfect Swarm

We had some really great ideas! We came really close!

My team and I were unfortunately not able to bring our entry to a satisfactory level of completion, but you can see what we’ve got here: http://rusticgames.com/games/swarm

We plan on continuing to work on the game after the jam, and I’ll reply to this post with updated links should we get anything done in a reasonable timeframe.

I’m in

Alright, guys—I’m in!

Here’s a quick run-down of some of the tools I’ll probably end up using:

  • Engine: Impact
  • Editor: Sublime Text 2
  • Graphics: Photoshop, Pixen, Wacom tablet, pen & paper
  • Audio: Famitracker, GarageBand, various acoustic instruments

I’m going to attempt to write all of my source code in CoffeeScript, as I’ve been meaning to give it an honest go. I wrote a custom build system for Sublime+Impact+CoffeeScript, which I’m keeping my fingers crossed about. Desk shots/food shots/excitement/wailing to come. Looking forward to it, and good luck, everyone!

I’m in, y’all

Really, really going to try and finish something this time around. I’ll be using Unity as my engine, and Photoshop in the event that I find time to make some decent art assets. For sound effects I’ll fire up sfxr. If I get around to music, I’ll either pull out the acoustic guitar and record something into GarageBand or make something in FamiTracker.

I am, in fact, in

My goal this go-round is to get more familiar with some tools I plan to use more extensively in the near future:

My personal metric of success will be to finish something that incorporates works created in all three. Good luck all!
