I am making a short mega-man stlye platformer, where you have to hunt down your escapee friends.
I’m only using place-holder graphics at the moment, but the engine is coming along well, with ice, check-points and “spikes”.

I have now made two full levels, each with a boss at the end.
Now to make the menu and add sound effects.

Too busy to actually download and play the game? Well now thanks to Superstickman42 you can simply watch an LP of the entire game! In some ways this is better than the actual game seeing as the video has added Megaman music!
Super hyped about this Ludum Dare after stuffing up the last one.
My arsenal:
Code: GameMaker 8.1/HTML5
Arts: GameMaker Sprite Editor, Paint.net, Adobe Illustrator
Ear candy: Audacity, SFXR
Setup:
I bought a new chair from Ikea just for the occasion.
I’ll be posting both on the LD website and on http://nanolotl.tumblr.com/
Fairly happy with the progress I made today. I have something playable that is somewhat fun!
Here is a link in its current state: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47598017/LD23/Ver3.exe
Controls: Arrows keys to move, Space to use item, X/C to change item. Debug: Z to add 5 XP, A to give a healing potion.
It’s quite fun trying to see how high a level you can reach before dying.
I also put together a terrain generator for some islands using the cellular automota method primarily used of caves.
Screenies:
#gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Woohoo! I managed to complete a game!
I’m surprised I managed to get a game pretty much exactly like what I had planned a the beginning: a randomly generated action-adventure game.
Towards the end when I needed ideas for what the characters should be, I went back to one of my mottos: “When in doubt, use sheep.”
So yeah, 3 levels, a nice combat system and a boss battle.
This is the first non-platformer I have ever finished making, and its quite fun too!
The page for the game is here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=4470
I am in! Hopefully this will be my 3rd time submitting an entry.
Entering from Perth, Western Australia.
Very much hoping for the ‘1000 Kittens’ theme.
Tools:
-Game Maker 8.1
-Paint.net
-SFXR
-Adobe Illustrator CS4
This was my first time really doing anything with 3d graphics. I’m glad I managed to get it working quickly enough!
Entry can be found HERE
I’m in for my 4th time so far.
I think I might have a hard time beating my previous rankings, but I’ll try anyway.

Obligatory desk shot:
I’ve finished my 5th Ludum Dare game, making this the 4th consecutive Ludum Dare I have had a final product for.
Reach the Moon is a very short first person puzzle game where you interact with objects in a dark empty world in an attempt to, as the title suggest, reach the moon.
Despite the amount of new things I experimented with I finished a lot earlier than I usually do.
