First Ludum Dare!

I have no idea what I'm doing, and I'm going to be stumbling around the entire jam, but I'm incredibly excited! I managed to miss the last one, and thanks to me never setting a reminder, I'd have missed this one too if not for Blackthornprod mentioning it's this weekend in his latest video.

In other words, EXCITED.

Question about compo vs jam

To enter a compo/jam, do you choose which one you want to submit for when you submit the game, or is that something you do before you create the game?

(First timer question ^^;

Cheatsheet for formatting

Hey, all! This is my first gamejam, and I had some troubles with figuring out Markdown with the submission hour and whatnot. But, I just found a cheatsheet for that! So that's nice.

I'd assume I'm not the only one who had some issues with figuring out Markdown and I'd bet there's some people who could use some help with that. So, here's that cheatsheet I mentioned!

I'm in!

Hello, everybody! I'm back for my second Ludum Dare, and this time I'll officially have a teamate too! I slowed down in GameDev-land, so I still only have my last Ludum Dare game under my belt, but that's not stopping me from participating again this year. I can't wait for it to begin!

Tools: * Godot * Affinity Photo * Affinity Designer * LMMS

T-5 minutes!

Theme revealed in less than 5 minutes.

Let's go!!!

Current progress

Alright, day 1 is done for me. I've got to hit the hay and recharge my brain.

So far so good, I've got movement, and most of the main mechanic. Here's a GIF with a whole lot of placeholder art!

Day 2 complete!

Time for me to stop for the day. Pretty good progress! I've got most of the base mechanics done. Just need to design some levels, get animations in, and add a few more sounds. I suppose an actual win condition could be good too. Gotta keep going!

Almost there

I'm close. All I need now, is a bit more polish. But 'till then, have another GIF! LD44MrPiedPiper2.gif

Try out Coinroll Adventures :D

Hey, everybody!

Edit: Link I forgot XP https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/coinroll-adventures

I thought I'd go ahead and shamelessly promote my second LD game; Coinroll Adventures! (Made it Godot)

It's a short puzzle-platformer where you play as a stack o coins.

I hope you all enjoy!

Ludum Dare 45

I'm back for more!

Hey! I'm here for my 3rd Ludum Dare, and excited to create yet another game :D

Here are my current suggested themes. Might change some, though. Not entirely sold on "Molded" ideas.jpg

Quick little opinion on a round 3 theme

Just wanted to say real quick that I'd personally downvote the theme: "Games that shouldn't be in first person done in first person"

It basically takes the idea of doing any kind of 2D game out of the picture, making things harder for those of us with less experience with 3D, or using an engine that flat out doesn't support it.

It's a neat idea for a project. But as a game jam theme, I just don't think that it fits. Especially with the huge amount of people with varying skill levels, using a huge variety of tools.

Obligatory pre-jam post

Hey, everybody!

I'm back for a 3rd Ludum Dare. And this time I'm going to be joining forces with @StinkyKitty!

I've been trying to get them to participate for a while now, so this is pretty exciting. We aren't the best at this, but we'll definitely do our best!

Tools

  • Engine: Godot
  • Graphics: Aseprite, and Affinity Designer/Photo if we end up needing something other than fancy pixels
  • Music: LMMS
  • Version Control: Git

And if we ended up needing something 3D for some weird reason, Blender.

Best of luck in the Jam everybody. Can't wait to get started!

Edit: Oh! And for sounds we'll probably use Audacity with our Blue Yeti mid, and sound effect generators such as "ZzFX", "sfxr", and "ChipTone".

Done for the night

Spent quite a while trying to get this working, and we've got quite a bit added in. Still missing alot of essentials, so there's plenty to be done, but it's getting there. Starting to look like it's supposed to!

Note: Gameplay not final

Progress update!

So far so good. We've got pretty much everything in there function-wise, just need enemies, a "roadblock", and audio.

Edit: Oh hey, both Labels say "Time". Huh.

Nearing the end

The game is so close. There's still one big main gameplay mechanic I'd like to add, but presentability comes first. We need to finish the menus!

Last minute control query

Hey! We're finishing up now, and I was wondering if there were any more popular keybinds that aren't WASD that people would want in the game. Any suggestions?

New high score on Acorn Rush!

I've finally managed to hit 3000 points on our Jam game, "Acorn Rush"!

Let me know if anybody manages to get higher :D
